It was the big weekend Olivia had talked about....We called the Bus service that transported us about town when we realized we would be drinking...We rented two buses ..
Two buses to transport us to Ocean City.....Where Nelson's retired Gangster Uncle, Fathead Newton had given him a time share as a partial graduation gift, when he finished law school and passed the bar.. He and Beverly had spent a few weekends there..
but they both agreed.. this place was huge and meant to be shared with friends..
"It's beautiful, but it's so large it gives me the creeps when it's just the two of us alone."said Beverly..
Nelson agreed and the last time we ventured down...Two years ago...We came and invited Arthur Trout and his girlfriend Mandy, also an Attorney...
Olivia picked this occasion to celebrate our soon to be former para-legal,
Josie Boyd's graduation from law school.....She had graduated law school the week before..She hadn't taken the bar yet...but she had graduated and we were ecstatic...
Olivia and Beverly invited all of our friends and associates down for the weekend..Hoping we all could make it..and rented two buses and a catering service...
We left Philadelphia on a Friday afternoon...
"I'm so glad all of our dockets are clear and we could come down here for this weekend.."said an ecstatic Olivia..
"It wasn't easy co-ordinating this and getting all of you people down here.."said Beverly..
"No it wasn't..I hope we have enough drinks and food for all of you guys.."I said..
''We certainly have enough room."said Nelson..
"I'm speechless, I can't believe you guys did this for me...Thank you so much."gushed Josie..
"You deserve it...You're an angel's breath from being an attorney..."said Paris, Josie's boyfriend..
"So Happy for you baby girl...If you need any help in studying for the bar...You know my number and where I live." said Attorney Yvette Jones..
"Congratulations Josie.."said Gary...Yvette's boyfriend and an investigator with the D.A.'s office...
"Congratulations Josie...Much luck to you.."said Attorney Keith Jones..
"I'm so happy for you Josie Girl...."said Attorney Beatrice "Bee Bee" Evans...
"So am I."said Attorney Sofia Garcia..
"Congratulations Josie..I wouldn't have missed this for the world.."said Attorney Kahlil Ahmed..
"Yes, congratulations Josie.." said Lt. Danny Ho, Jade Lee's boyfriend of Robbery-Homicide..
On the second Bus..Olivia and Beverly's cousin, Kayla and her husband, Ray St. James sat
"I remember the last time we came down here...It was so nice.." said Attorney Kayla Bennett.
"Indeed...We had a ball.."said Ray...
"We had a good time too didn't we Arthur?" said Samantha...also an Attorney..
"Yesssss indeed."said her boyfriend, Attorney Arthur Trout ,remembering the early morning sex they had on the beach a f ew blocks away..
It was a nice warm weekend just like this one..
"So Sorry I missed the last time Liv and Beverly came down here.."said Attorney Zoey Easter, Olivia's one time divorce lawyer....
"Well we are here now.."said Lem, her husband...
"Liv sure knows how to throw a party ." said B.L. Benz...TV Journalist/Attorney and host of the show HARD BOTTOM....
"I'm just glad you and I were able to get away from Philly and go somewhere nice.."said ADA Karen Page..who had gone to law school with Olivia and Yvette..
II-
The two buses pulled up in front of the huge Time share......
Olivia gave them a check....
"Thanks guys...You can pick us up Sunday afternoon around 4:30.." she said as they pulled off..
With help from Nelson and Paris, we set up Alexa and some speakers....
The Music, Classic R&B, Neo Soul, Classic Hip Hop and a little acid Jazz flowed through the huge living room....
After everyone got themselves settled in their rooms...The young people began dancing..
They were having a great time..
"Liv, great party...Thank you for inviting me.."said B.L.
"Thank you and Karen for coming..."said Olivia..
Gary and I laid out the platters..
All types of cold cuts
and sandwich meats and cheeses
along with lettuce, onions,pickles relish and mayo, mustard and sandwich rolls...
As you can guess...The sandwiches flew off the table..Everybody was eating..
The grill was fired up in the back and ribs, barbecued chicken and burgers were served ….
There was plenty of beers to wash down the food....
A good time was being had by all....We all planned to go to the beach later on tonight..
I couldn't wait to see the ladies in their bathing suits,..
III-
Unknown to any of us...A car sat across the street from us....
Photographs were being taken...
"I can't believe you've got me out here on a Friday night photographing this harmless party..."said Private Investigator, Burt Vandenburg..
"I did a property search....This property was purchased by Reputed Gangster, Arthur "Fathead" Newton.."said Lt. Tragg..
"Oh Come on Artie...He purchased it 20 years ago...He's no longer in the states...or in the game..I hear he got married, lives in Paris...He gave this place to his nephew, Attorney Nelson East...Who barely comes down here... They're all down here celebrating...Olivia's para-legal, Josie Boyd just graduated law school..
Liv through her a big party...Nothing illegal going on here..There's enough lawyers here to make sure of that...and some cops too.."laughed Burt..
"Yes...one of my guys, Lt. Danny Ho and Gary Lockwood, an investigator for the D.A.'s office are both here...Isn't this a conflict of Interest?" asked Lt. Tragg, who sat next to him in the car..
looking at the goings on in the house...
''So what Arthur? They're off duty...You're gonna bust em for eatin cold cuts and drinking beer with their girlfriends?" joked Burt....
"I just wanted to make sure nothing illegal or untoward was going on.."said Lt. Tragg...
"You don't fool me....Who you're really interested in is her...What she's doing down here?" said Burt ,pointing to ADA Karen Page, who exited the house and was walking hand and hand with B.L. Benz..
Within minutes...
Olivia and I exited and followed them...
Beverly and Nelson and Josie and Paris exited also,,,
Yvette and Gary
Keith and Bee Bee
Kahlil and Sofia
Jade and Danny Ho
and Kayla and her husband Ray..
all left and headed toward the beach...
We were all photographed ….
"Don't act all pure Vandenburg...Don't tell me you don't care about her, being with him!"said Lt. Tragg..
Samantha!!! She and Arthur Trout were still together. It had taken Burt almost two years to get over his mad obsession with her...and here he was seeing her again...and with him...Attorney Arthur Trout.
"Artie, I'm over her...I'm here clearly because you paid me to follow ADA Page.." said Burt..
Zoey and Lem, the last couple, who Lt. Tragg didn't know exited the building..
We all went to the beach...Most of us got in the water...and swam...It was a great time...
We retired to the house some hours later..
IV-
SATURDAY MORNING-
Olivia was up ...The doorbell had rang...
"We have more guests guys..." she said.
"More guests? Seems like everybody you know is here..."laughed B.L.
''Not everybody... These are the most important guests...They brought us all together..."laughed Olivia..
"HEYYY MAN!! Howdy Missus!"I said..
It was my fellow Private Investigator, Kevin Morris and his lovely wife, the realator, Sepia Morris and their adorable little girl...Kimberly... Indeed...Sepia had sold us the property we work out of and live in...She had sold a house or rented a property to practically everybody here...and Kevin had helped all of us in someway at sometime...
"Hi Everybody...Sorry we didn't make it down last night...but we had to come today.."said Sepia....
"Hiiii Congratulations Josie..."said Attorney and Insurance Investigator ,Bonnie Shay....She and her husband Ronnie had come down with Kevin and Sepia...
"Heyyy everybody...Sorry we didn't make it down yesterday..."said her husband, Ronnie Shay...
"OH MY GODDD!" said Josie, now in tears....Kevin had taken Josie in when her father died and helped her finish her college..He had introduced her to Olivia and Beverly when they were starting their law firm..
Her boyfriend, Paris put his arms around her...
"Don't cry babes." he said gently..
and she had been with them, even before I was part of the team...
''We brought Cake...Three Cakes...I hope everybody here gets a slice.."said Sepia..
"I love you guys too!You took me in , when I had nobody...You introduced me to Olivia and Beverly...You'll always be family...Always "said Josie, crying....
"Aww We love you too Josie.." said Sepia.
"There is plenty of food here... I had this catered … You're just in time for Brunch.." said Olivia..
"Yes..Come in, take a load off, Eat!" I said..
Kevin, Sepia, Bonnie and Ronald's eyes popped out of their heads when they looked at the spread we had..Catered Breakfast, Catered Barbecue and cold cuts for sandwiches...
"Gee I don't know where to start first.." said Kevin...
"I'm sure you'll figure it out.." said Sepia.. "I'm getting some breakfast food for the baby." she said.
"This is sooo nice...I wish we had come down last night.."said Bonnie...
"That's okay...We are here now.."said Ronnie,her husband.
"Now let's cut these cakes..."said Kayla, hugging Josie..
"Yesssssss" said Beverly, kissing Josie on the cheek..
"Congratulations Josie girl.."said Bee Bee..
"Congratulations Mami." said Sofia..
Nelson, Keith Jones , Kahlil and Gary helped Olivia cut the cake..
"Here, everybody get some.."said Olivia..
as the cake was cut....
"This is from Cakeman Raven's place right Sepia?" asked Yvette...
"Oh Most definitely..." said Sepia..
"The short time I've been in Philly, I find they make the best cakes." I said..
"Oh for sure.." said Kevin....
The rest of the guests gathered around and got a piece of cake....
"Let's go Artie...There is nothing to see here...They're just partying...No laws have been broken...but I think you knew that."said Burt Vandenburg ,who looked at Lt. Tragg and shook his head.. "What a miserable human being." he thought to himself..
Lt. Tragg was furious that Private Investigator Kevin Morris was there with his family...as well as every attorney who had fouled him up in court and then some..but what really burnt him up was that Karen was here with B.L.
They pulled off, heading back to Philadelphia..
Josie and Paris stood outside for a private moment..
"Congratulations baby...You're a lawyer now!" said Paris..
''Almost, I gotta pass the bar first..."said Josie.
"You'll ace it...All those cases with Olivia and Beverly....You probably don't even have to study..."said Paris..
"Ohh yes I do....someone has offered to help me prepare for it...I can't bother Liv and Bev or Nelson, they have court cases and so does Ms. Yvette and her team...I'm studying with someone else..but that's for the future.. Liv and Bev gave me a week off, just to relax...I don't want to see any law books or be anywhere near a courthouse." said Josie..
"What do you plan to do?" asked Paris..
"I plan to spend it with you.." said Josie...
She and Paris kissed passionately on the porch while inside..
Nelson's Beachfront house...
Much Cake was eaten and Champaigne imbibed...
This was indeed....The best weekend ever...For everyone..
