ADA Bruce Greene was livid....Here was another of his successful cases being re-litigated....A Case already decided by a jury...

Debra Brown, an "angry woman " who torched her own residence and refused to pay her live in boyfriend a cent of the insurance money....

He didn't like or trust the boyfriend either, Reggie Owens...He personally thought he was a snake and wanted to prosecute him too, but there was little evidence that he had anything to do with the torchin g of the house...He was simply a greedy good for nothing predatory man....The kind of guy he despised.

Still! This case was over, decided by 12 jurors who sentenced Debra Brown to one year in prison and two years probabtion...

He had bested Orville Newly..

who at one time had been a rather brilliant Defense Attorney, but was now a burned out drunk, who could barely stay awake during a trial..

He was going to have to have a serious talk with Karen Page, though he knew it would do no good.

He drove over to the Bridge Building

and their beautiful Cafeteria...

He was a little surprised at who he saw there...

"Tika Boo, So Nice for you to be eating with us.."said Jazzy...

"I'm here to visit with and thank the attorneys who worked with my new Public Defenders....Like your husband, Dabnis..."said Natika Summers, the new head of the Public Defender's Office.

"You're Welcome...I like talking to young lawyers...." said Dabnis...

"And thank you too Kayla."said Natika.

"Oh you're welcome, you're making great changes at the Public Defenders Office....Having your young charges work with seasoned attorneys on cases they most likely would lose."said Kayla.

"Yeah that's good...They get good tutelage and real world experience..."said Kayla's husband, Ray.

"And Jessica..You and Chip and Matthew were wonderful....Being second and third chair on actual cases and giving helpful lectures.."said Natika.

"Natika, you are the most progressive leader of the Public defender's Office I have ever seen...I really respect what you're doing....The image of the Green, Frightened Public Defender is a thing of the past now." said Jessica, hugging her.

"Yes, your new attorneys are young, fearless and more knowledgeable than they would be..."said

her husband, Chip.

"I love what you're doing Natika... And Bonnie, it's so good having you work with us..and do our investigating.."said Karen.

"I think your client is innocent and the victim of a shell game." said Bonnie.

"Well at any rate...She's out of jail and not on her way to prison."said Natalie.

''We are going to make sure that doesn't happen." I said.

"We've got our work cut out for us." said Brooke.

"I don't think this is too difficult a case...I think Bruce got lucky...He was up against a drunken burned out attorney who was slightly off his game."said Sean.

''Which is the reason why Natika has had a number of us working with her at the Public Defender's Office." said Zoey.

"Yeah to keep the next generation of Attorneys from becoming like Orville Newly." said Lem, laughing.

"He was once a very good Defense Attorney....He got jaded, along the way." said Renee.

"That could happen to any one of us in time.."said her husband, Tyrell, a new attorney himself, putting his arms around Renee and squeezing her tight,.

"Yeah, a defeat in court here..an unjust ruling and there you go." said Lee, also a relatively new attorney.

"That's why we have such a supportive network here...To hold each other up..."said Matthew.

"Exactly....I admire the reforms and changes Natika has made at the Public Defender's office."said Nina.

"Were you ever a Public Defender Nina? I was...in New York.."said Carlos.

"No, I was an Assistant District Attorney my entire career...I got burnt out and I came here to the Women's Law Center."said Nina.

"I don't want to get burned out and I don't want my young attorneys getting burned out."said Natika.

"And you're doing a fine job Natika...I wish you could have been running things when I worked there."said Olivia, who was visiting today with her crew. "And how are you Bonnie, I haven't seen you in a minute?" said Olivia.

"I'm doing well Liv...Just trying to keep my head above water." said Bonnie Shay.

"Aren't we all?" laughed Olivia's husband, Donnie Ray.

"Tika Boo, I hear you're making great changes at the Public Defenders Office....Having your young charges work with seasoned attorneys on cases they most likely would lose."said Beverly...

"I think I've found my calling Bev-Bev." said Natika Summers, smiling..

"I worked a few cases with your young Public Defenders...It was good Education..."said Josie.

"I worked a few cases too...It was fun..." said Paris.

''So did I..It was a good experience.."said Bresha.

"I'm scheduled to work with a young charge of yours next week."said Tony...

What Surprised Bruce Greene the most was that his girlfriend, Attorney Paula Johnson was eating with us also.

"You aint never lied...This food is the bomb and there are so many choices to choose from.." she said.

"You've eaten with us before Paula....it's been a long time....but you have..."said Ms. Yvette.

"Nice to see you down here...uh, look over there...Looks like your boyfriend is here."said Keith Jones..

"Did he follow you down here?" asked Bee Bee.

"I don't think so...."said Paula.

"We don't want you to get in any trouble."said Sofia.

"Yeah....We don't want that."said Kahlil.

"I'm a grown woman....I'm not in any trouble...You all are my friends."said Paula.

"That's the spirit."laughed Jade.

"Tell him girl." laughed Virginia.

"I don't think he's here for her..."said Jetty....

Bruce was livid....but he wasn't about to approach any of us...

II-

One by one everybody filed out of the cafeteria and headed towards the elevators...

Bruce Greene grabbed Paula by the arm...

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?" he asked..

''Well for one thing, I'm having breakfast with some friends....Some friends I am working on a case with,Two, the case is none of your business and three...I didn't know I had to report my every movement to you." she said and angrilly pulled away from him...."What are YOU doing here?" she asked.

"I have a meeting." he said. "A Division of the District Attorney's Office is in this building." he said.

"Oh Karen and them.....Okay...Carry on!" she said and she headed toward the Elevator...

The first elevator had Olivia, Donnie Ray, Beverly, Nelson, Josie, Paris, Bresha and Tony on it as well as Yvette, Keith, Bee Bee, Sofia, Kahlil, Jade and Virginia and Judge Jetty Dukes on it...Paula jumped on just before the doors closed.

On the next elevator, Natika Summers, who he also wanted to talk to was crowded with Jazzy, her annoying husband, Dabnis Coley, Kayla, her husband, Ray, Jessica Sanchez-Burrow of the Innocence Project and her husband, Charles "Chip" Burrows, Karen Page, who he wanted to see, Natalie Charles and myself ,David Charles, Brooke and Sean Marks, The Insurance Attorney and Investigator, Bonnie Shay, Zoey and Lem Anderson, Renee Cantrell-Jones, who he still carried a torch for and her husband, Tyrell Jones, An Attorney, who he still considered a lightweight....New Attorney, Lee Akes and her husband, Matthew Akes, an attorney who was born in Nigeria...A Naturalized American Citizen who nearly got deported.. Former ADA Nina Rios , who he attempted to date once and her new Husband ,Carlos Diaz, a transplanted Attorney from New York... Again the elevator was too crowded

He got on the next elevator.

We were in our suite having our meeting...

"So Yesterday, We met with Attorney Orville Newly...." said Karen..

''Was he sober?" asked Bonnie.

We all started laughing...

"For the most part he was sober....Though he had a half drank bottle of Jameson's Irish Whiskey.." said Brooke.

"But for the most part he was together...I think he was getting ready to crack that bottle when we came in." said Natalie.

''Anyway...he gave us his case files and updated us on the case... It was mostly what we already knew.." I said.

''For instance he gave us the address of one of those two electricians.. The one with the license...but who had a number of complaints against him..." said Karen.

"I'll find the other one...The one who didn't have a license, who was friends with Reggie Owens when they were locked up..." said Bonnie Shay..

"I'm afraid you can't do that unless you find out what cemetery he's buried in." I said.

"Oh He's Dead!"said Bonnie.

"He accidentally electrocuted himself last year while on a job!" said Natalie Dryly..

"WHATTTTTTTTTT? OH MY GODD!" said Sean, who was dying laughing....

" That's not funny!" said Brooke , who was laughing a little herself.

"Actually it is kind of funny..." said Bonnie,laughing..

"Well from there we should proceed to-" said Karen.

"I want you to proceed to shut this whole thing....This case was settled in court a year ago...Debra Brown was judged and convicted by a jury of her peers..There was nothing done wrong in her case.." said Bruce Greene.

"An Appellate court judge disagrees with you Bruce." said Natalie.

"She found a lot wrong....Evidence withheld...not saying YOU KNOWINGLY WITHHELD EVIDENCE BRUCE!! "said Brooke..

"WITNESSES NEVER ALLOWED TO TESTIFY!! That seems to be a thing with you Bruce in some of your cases that we've retried...." said Karen...

"I like to win too! But not at any extent..." I said.

"WHYYYYY YOUUUUUUU!" Bruce snarled, getting ready to charge me....

Sean got in between us...

"Hold up pal....You are way out of order here,,,,What's done is done.!!!!!.. The Court tossed out her conviction and we arraigned her successfully...She's a free woman until a new trial is ordered...One we expect to be up in a few days..There is noting you can do here." he said calmly...

"Bruce , you are not my boss or the boss of anyone in this room...You have no authority to ask us to do anything...But I am asking you to leave... NOWWWWWW!!" said Karen angrilly.....

Bruce angrilly stomped his foot and spun around like a top for about a minute and then stormed out of our office.

"He needs to see someone about that..." said Natalie.

"He makes me dizzy!" said Brooke, laughing....

CURLEY'S BAR-Couples Night.. A Few Hours Later!

A Thursday Night! We were all at Curley's for Couples Night.....

"Nice Cold Drinks...That's what I was craving for..." said Jazzy, smiling..

"They are serving Burgers tonight as a special." said Dabnis.

''Extra Special..Ouuu I love it." said Kayla.

"The AC is working well in here...because it's hot outside..." said Ray....

"Yes and with all of the drinking going on in here, that wouldn't bode well outside.." said Jessica.

"We are cool...We've got buses to get us and drive us home..regardless."said Chip.

"Yeah we do, but everybody here with us tonight does not..."said Karen.

"Lt. Tragg is over in that corner trying to get into Kelly Ann's panties...I don't think he'll be hassling anyone tonight."laughed B.L.

"Yeah that's true...I hope Bruce doesn't come in her in a snit..We've already dealt with him today..."said Natalie.

"He was real close to getting an ass whooping...North Philly style." I said.

"Nah we weren't going to let any of that happen."said Brooke.

"Yeah...We were smart to get him out of there....but he had a lot of nerve though..."said Sean.

"Yes he did , coming in your office demanding you shut down a case.." said Zoey.

"Besides, he's a little late...The girl's conviction has been tossed out and she's awaiting a second trial."said Lem.

"Bruce is always a little late with everything..."laughed Renee.

''Yeah, he sure is..."laughed her husband, Tyrell.

At a small table right in between us sat three couples who were our friends...Alexa Pratt, and her boyfriend, Daniel Bristol, Serendipity and her boyfriend, Kevin and Toni Robinson and her boyfriend, Eric Sellers. They had all driven here.

"Enjoying the drinks... I know you're waiting for the burgers aren't you?" laughed Alexa...

"I am."laughed Daniel Bristol.

"This is nice...We haven't been out in a minute..." laughed Serendipity...

"Nice to be out with your friends..."said her boyfriend, Kevin..

"Those burgers will keep us from being drunk.."laughed Toni Robinson.

"Yeah, one of us has to be sober when we leave here.."laughed her boyfriend, Eric Sellers.

Lee was already tipsy and sitting on her husband, Matthew's lap...

Matthew was sipping his drink and squeezing Lee tightly...

"Ouuuuuuu here comes more drinks." said Nina.

"Just what the doctor ordered." said her husband, Carlos.

As more drinks arrived....

" We have a nice turnout tonight."said Olivia, sitting on her husband's lap...

"Yeah , we have more people out tonight than usual." said Donnie Ray..

"Tonight seems special.." said Beverly.

"I'm waiting for those Burgers." said Nelson.

"I just know you are. You and my husband both!" laughed Josie.

"Yessssss...Yesssss."said Paris.

Bresha laughed...

"This is a good night." said Tony..

"Lot's of fellowship, lots of fun.."said Alfreda.

"Let's hope nobody spoils it."said Rockland.

"Spoke too soon...There's Bruce with Paula." said Yvette.

Bruce and Paula came in....but he purposely made her sit with him on the other side of the room..He didn't want her anywhere near the rest of us.

"WOW , HE MADE SURE SHE WASN'T ANYWHERE NEAR US!" laughed Yvette's husband, Gary.

"He's sooo petty!" said Keith Jones.

"He's a big baby....He didn't like the fact that she was eating with all of us this morning."said Bee Bee.

"I wonder if he knows she just wrapped up a big case with us and Olivia's group?"asked Sofia.

"Well even if he didn't know...The Case didn't involve him at all. We were in Bayside." said Kahlil.

"He could be angry that Natika has been working with a number of us , who have been second chair on a number of her young Public Defender's cases and have been lecturing a number of her new, young attorneys at the Public Defender's Office."said Jade.

"He won't say anything to her... She's his boss's girlfriend.." said Danny...

"Yeah, he won't say anything to her..."said Virginia..

"Especially since they just came in..."laughed Jetty...

"Hiiiii everybody!" said Natika, who came in and sat down with us...She was with Deputy District Attorney, Lester Burke..

"Hey Everyone!" said DDA Lester Burke.

Lt. Tragg and Judge Kelly Ann were in a corner kissing passionately...

"OHHHHHHHHHHHH ARTHUR....UMMMMMMMM!" she moaned.

"AWWWWWWWWWWW KELLY ANNE!!" he moaned..

And I did some research. It appears you helped Olivia and Beverly and their group and Yvette Jones-Lockwood and her group and those Innocence Project Attorneys work a class action suit in which 39 people's convictions were overturned." said Bruce.

"That's right...It was a righteous case...I was proud to be part of it...It took 14 lawyers to do the research alone ,let alone retry those cases..."said Paula.

''Well it's over..and you don't have to be hanging around them anymore." said Bruce.

"You're nuts...You don't tell me who my friends are and you don't dictate who I can associate with...I don't work for you...I don't even work with you..." said Paula.

"You know lately you've been really getting under my skin Paula." said Bruce.

"I think a lot of people have been getting under your skin....If you ever want to see my panties again, you'll stop with this conversation and this attitude right this minute."said Paula.

Plates with Cheeseburgers came out and were passed out to the tables with several drinks...Everybody was grabbing them up and eating them...

''Are you threatening me Paula?" asked Bruce.

''Nah Bruce...I'm leaving you.. I'll get a ride home...Don't bother to call me..." said Paula, who got up and walked over to our table with her cheeseburger..

"Olivia, can I get a ride on your bus home tonight?" asked Paula.

''Of course baby!" said Olivia, who didn't ask any questions...She kind of knew what the deal was as did we all.

Bruce sat somberly by himself, pouting and staring at our side of the room.....

He ordered a large mug of Beer and just sat somberly.....

We were all home from Curley's

"Wow ! What a night...I believe Paula and Bruce broke up." I said.

" I can't believe they were ever together." said Natalie with a smile. Loneliness will make a women desperate...I'm guessing you're horny, right?" said Natalie.

"Yeah well he got lucky with Paula....I'm sure she'll see him for what he is eventually and get as far away from him as possible." said Natalie.

"And to think...He was married once!" said Brooke.

Meanwhile, a few floors up , I was in Yvette's suite in their media room with Keith Jones and Kahlil Ahmed looking at possible jurors...
