Gary Smith looked over the case he was supposed to prosecute...It was weak, circumstantial.. He needed more.. He was going to tell his second chair , ADA Bruce Green to impress upon Lt. Tragg that he needed, they needed more to prosecute this case..

AN HOUR LATER-

Assistant District Attorney Jill Jones sat in his office...

"I'd be pleased to be your third chair Mr. Smith...I've heard about you and your legal expertise."she said.

ADA Bruce Greene was disgusted...He didn't like working with women almost as he didn't like being second chair...

"ADA Green, I would like for you to talk to Lieutenant Tragg and tell him we need more evidence...This case is booty, too circumstantial...I don't want to go into court looking like a fool." said ADA Gary Smith...

''Ohhhhh so I'm your errand boy huh? I run all the errands you don't want to do yourself eh? Why don't you tell him? You're the Lead Counsel!" snarled Bruce Green.

"Because I ASKED YOU TO DO IT!!! I know you're a highly decorated ADA, who up until a few months ago hadn't lost a case, but uh you lost to Olivia Bennett-Alexander, her niece Beverly and that team...You also lost to a former bailiff, who had passed the bar, just one month before he got the trial of his life....You my friend should be a little humble considering..Now GO TALK TO LT. TRAGG LIKE I ASKED YOU!!!" he bellowed..

His commanding nature aroused ADA Jill Jones in a way she hadn't been aroused in quite some time.

II-

After a great weekend...We were all back to work in our building on Monday Morning.

And in our conference room....

"Okay, what do we know?" asked Ms. Yvette.

"My contact over at the courthouse tells me that Special Prosecutor Gary Smith has put together a team of his own... ADA Bruce Green, who just lost to our boy Tyrell and who tried to prosecute Tyrell and lost to Olivia and Beverly and associates... Green is not to happy...He doesn't like being second chair.. He and Smith have already butted heads.. He has also requested the services of ADA Jill Jones." said Kahlil.

"Good , Now Lt. Tragg will have someone who's skirt he can slip his hands up."joked Bee Bee.

"Yeah." Sofia laughed...

I admit, I had to laugh myself.....but I knew that's not the information Ms. Yvette wanted..

"That's all well and good, but I mean about this case...What have the police got? What have we got to rebuff it?" said Ms. Yvette.

"The police don't have much... They have Olive's fingerprints and DNA all over Oliveri's Condo..." said Jade.

"Of course it would be...She lived there...They had been lovers...She had just moved out." I said.

"They've got his semen all over the dress she was wearing that night and his blood."said Jade.

"He was in his boxers, she said he called her over there.. We have a record of the phone calls made between them, He tried to get sex, there was a struggle and when she resisted, he ejaculated prematurely all over her dress, the wall and the bed spreads where they also found semen...They didn't find any semen in her panties, no saliva on her bra or anywhere else on her body...There was no sex..and even if there were...The semen on her had to be dry by the time she came back and touched his bloody body ,compared to the fresh blood." said Bee Bee.

"That's right and the lab ought to be able to prove that....Call Dr. Goggins and the M.E.'s office.That and that alone will prove the hour between when she was there and when she returned...proving that she didn't kill Lee Oliveri." said Ms. Yvette..

"I'm on it." said Sofia.

"I interviewed 25 people...They all live in and around that condo and I compared their statements to what they told Lt. Tragg.. It's like any other case... Half of them couldn't get their stories straight..They suddenly remembered things differently....They do remember her coming there and they remember a loud argument between them the sound of struggling and her leaving...Her hair in disarray and her crying.. Another group remembers her returning and her leaving again...Now, here is where it gets cute..

We know that he called her around 10:30....while he was on the phone..One witness ,Mrs. Ann Jarvis

him say-"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE? I'M ON THE PHONE!!" and then there was a gunshot! That witness is our most important witness...She proves that Olive couldn't have murdered him because she was on the phone with him!" said Jade.

"The phone records prove that." said Kahlil.

"That witness definitely won't be called...We've got to subpoena her." said Yvette.

"Problem is.. This witness has an alcohol problem..."said Jade.

The portal was on the table, Olive was privy to our entire conversation..

"I know her...

Mrs. Jarvis. She does have a bit of a drinking problem...How ironic....I helped her get into AA and she may be the only person who can save my life." Olive..

"One person is better than no person honey!" said Ms. Virginia.

And halfway across town at Sam Mother's Diner...

''What the hell happened to you? were you fighting?" asked ADA Bruce Green.

Lt. Tragg had a black eye that was nearly closed shut and cotton in his nose to stop the bleeding and a bandage across the bridge of his nose.

"It's nothin...What do you want?" he asked as his breakfast was brought to him.. Steak and a Fried Egg, Hash Browns and coffee...

"Gary Smith wants you to recanvass the crime scene, to see if you can find some more credible witnesses and explore the possibility of another suspect...He says your case is weak, circumstantial, which I have to agree with him...it is." said ADA Green..

''All you lawyer types say the same thing...The case is weak...the case is weak...Recanvass...Sometimes, what is there is all that is there...Look, they were having a lovers spat..She's got his love juice all over her dress and his blood...We found the gun down the hallway, where she ditched it...Case closed." said Lt. Tragg...

"The Gun was wiped clean of prints ." said ADA Bruce Green..

"Of course it would be. She's not stupid. She's a lawyer." said Lt. Tragg.

"Right so she hangs around with sperm and blood of the victim all over her dress, waiting for you to show up? She called her friend, an Assistant District Attorney and she called the police."said Bruce Green.

"WHO'S SIDE ARE YOU ON BRUCE?" said Lt. Tragg as he continued eating his breakfast...

ADA Bruce Green just stared at him and shook his head.

III-

We all were at the courthouse for the preliminary hearing.....

Sofia was bringing us all coffee when she ran across

Lt. Tragg.. Lt. Tragg had a black eye that was nearly closed shut and cotton in his nose to stop the bleeding and a bandage across the bridge of his nose.

"Aye Mios dios...WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?" she said as she passed a tumbler of hot coffee to all of us..

I was just as shocked upon seeing him as was Bee Bee, Kahlil and Ms. Yvette..

"Oh My God, Did somebody clock him recently?? Apparently we missed it!" I said.

''Apparently! We can't be present for all of his altercations." said Bee Bee.

''We haven't been in Curleys for weeks or Sam Mothers either..It's a chance we missed it." said Kahlil.

"Like Bee Bee said...We can't be present for all of his altercations." said Ms. Yvette , just shaking her head.

"Looks to me like he stuck his nose where it didn't belong." snickered Ms. Jade.

Olive snickered....

"Jade, I oughta run you in!!!....I swear I ought to place you under arrest....You mailed those trackers to the Deputy of Operations didn't you??? and you put that extra one on someone else's SUV didn't you?? One that looked exactly like yours didn't you?" he snarled.

"Well if you can prove any of what you say then you have to explain to the Deputy of Operations, like why you requisitioned so many GPS Trackers and placed them on my vehicle without a warrant or just cause.,you do that! .You prepared to do that? I don't think so. Stop trying to bug my vehicle..I'm an ex- cop...I know where to look and how to look..STOP DOING IT! " said Jade....

She had him up a barrell and he knew it... He was in enough hot water as it was with the GPS Trackers mailed to the Deputy Of Operations and giving an explanation as to why he requisitioned them in the first place...He would really be in a mess to explain why he was following a cop's wife around without a warrant..or any real probable cause... He couldn't say or do anything to Jade. He hated that she knew that!

"One of these days Jade, One of these days...you're going to slip up and when you do...Your license will be mine!!!" he snarled and stormed off..

We all met in Judge Pringle's courtroom a few minutes later..

"Good Morning Attorneys...we are going to change things up a bit...As you may have heard, Due to courtroom overcrowding of cases , and until further notice we are going to bypass a preliminary hearing...We know that a crime, a henious crime has been committed so we are going to go straight to trial.. We will have Jury selection on Monday..I'll be out the next day...So next Wednesday , we will begin with trial." said Judge Pringle... We will start today with introductions.."she said.

"Attorney Gary Smith, Special Prosecutor, assisted by

Assistant District Attorney Bruce Green, second chair and

Assistant District Attorney Jill Jones, Third chair." said Gary Smith....

Lt. Tragg sat next to her with his arms folded...He was furious that the man who was with ADA Jill Jones in that SUV on Lovers Lane had knocked him out. The man turned out to be a police officer from Bayside , who ADA Jones had met in a bar in Bayside....He had called and apologized profusely for what had happened.

"Lead Attorney Yvette Jones-Lockwood for the Defense your honor....I will be assisted by

Attorney Keith Jones,

Attorney Beatrice Evans-Jones,

Attorney Sofia Garcia-Ahmed

and Attorney Kahlil-Ahmed...

and investigator, Jade Lee-Ho...."said Yvette.

"Excellent...it's Tuesday......Monday be in court for jury selection at 10:00 am... Court is adjourned..."said Judge Pringle.

Gary Smith walked over to Lt. Tragg...

"Uh Lieutenant, I don't know if ADA Bruce Green has spoken to you yet but ahh..." he said.

"He spoke to me earlier today.... I brought in a solid case , now you should work with what I gave you from there....I am the detective on this case...I don't need you lawyer types telling ME how to run MY INVESTIGATION.." said Lt. Tragg....

"Okay, let me explain this to you so you can understand how this is going to work! I AM THE LEAD PROSECUTOR ON THIS CASE...I CALL THE SHOTS!! ME!! NOW YOU WILL RECANVASS THE CRIME SCENE, YOU WILL FIND ME A CREDIBLE WITNESS THAT I CAN USE...YOU WILL TURN UP SOME MORE EVIDENCE....YOU DO KNOW WHAT EVIDENCE IS DETECTIVE???? YOU WILL DO THIS OR I WILL GO TO YOUR CAPTAIN AND OR YOUR DEPUTY OF OPERATIONS AND REQUEST ANOTHER DETECTIVE BE PUT ON THIS CASE...DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT LIEUTENANT!!! I WILL NOT GO INTO THAT COURTROOM ,LOOKING LIKE A DAMN FOOL!" he bellowed...

"WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE TALKING TO? YOU WORK YOUR SIDE OF THE STREET AND I'LL WORK MINE!" snarled a defiant Lt. Tragg, stomping his foot and walking away....He already knew he hated Gary Smith.

ADA Bruce Green stood in the corner snickering at it all...

"I see I'm going to have to make some calls..." said Gary Smith....He looked at Ms. Yvette...

''A very attractive woman...I wish I had a tight unified team like she does.." he said to himself.. "I'm stuck with a jealous egotistical man-child and this idiot detective who couldn't find a suspect if the suspect confessed. Maybe I should cut my losses." he mused.

We heard the entire altercation.....

"Come on guys, let's get out of here." said Yvette.

"If he's telling him to recanvass, that means their case is weak..." I said.

"Maybe, but I'd better find my witness and subpoena her...Make sure we have a strong case.."said Jade.

"Mrs. Jarvis? She drinks at Curleys." said Olive..

Bee Bee, Myself, Sofia and Kahlil all let out a collective groan...we didn't like to be in Curleys without our collective group and even then Lt. Tragg could manage to get on our nerves...

"You guys don't have to go....I'll go with Jade." said Yvette... "Olive, you come with us...You can point her out. You guys are free for today....I'll see you in the morning!" said Yvette, smiling.. She always looked out for us.

"Okay." said Olive.

CURLEY'S BAR-

Now of days, we all came in on Thursday Nights...Couples night in a huge group...This was the rare night, that Jade...Ms Yvette and Olive were here alone...No Husbands, No large group of friends..but alone.

They were sipping a Citris Martini, A Mango Martini and a Lemon Drop Martini respectively..

With water at the table.

Lt. Tragg walked in....

"WELLLLL LOOK AT THIS...Where is Olivia and the rest of your motley crew?" he asked..

"They are where-ever they are...I'll be sure to tell them you asked about them..." said Yvette...

Assistant District Attorney Jill Jones walked up to Lt. Tragg...

"Hi Yvette, Hello Jade! Arthur...A word please! I'm at that table over in the corner." she said.

"I'll see you ladies later....Don't drink too much if you're driving." he remarked..

"What an asshole!" remarked Jade...

''She'll keep him busy...He won't be pestering us." said Yvette, sighing relief.

"There is Mrs. Jarvis." said Olive.

Mrs. Jarvis was sitting by herself...

She had downed ten beers,,,She wasn't quite sloshed yet...

Ms. Yvette, Olive and Jade Joined her....

''Mrs. Jarvis...My name is Yvette Jones...Don't be intimidated by this subpoena..This is just a formality..but I am the lead defense attorney for your former neighbor, Olive here, who is on trial for murdering Lee Oliveri....We need you to testify on her behalf...Just tell the jury what you told Ms. Jade a few days ago...." said Yvette.

"I told that cop the same thing...The one over there with his hands up that woman's skirt...Ouuuuu Why don't she slap him? She must like it! I told him...He must not have wanted to hear what I had to say."said Mrs. Jarvis.

"Yes , I noticed of all the witnesses Lt. Tragg questioned and interviewed...Your name is the only name not mentioned in discovery." said Ms. Yvette.

"That Keystone copper is trying to send me to Death Row." scoffed Olive..

"Tell us what you know Mrs. Jarvis." said Jade...

"Lee Oliveri was a gynecologist....Not one I'd go to....The man had no ethics...He dated at least three of his clients.... Yes baby, you weren't the only one." she said ,looking at Olive... and he was seeing Rosemary, a needy young woman from down the hall... Rosemary was a stalker...She watched his place like a hawk...They would have yelling ,screaming fights about his other women...Then he'd calm her down by sleeping with her....Everything would be cool for a day or two, then you or one of the other ones would show up and it would start all over again...

The day he died..Two women came over there to get their things before you did Olive...I saw you when you left..Then he was on the phone, I guess it was you...I heard a shreik and I heard him say... "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE!!!" and then I heard the gunshot!!!I was afraid to look out my door...I heard someone run down the hall and drop something heavy in the waste basket and then run back down the hall...Then an hour later...You and your girlfriend showed up and we saw the police all over the place.. I know you didn't kill him doll." said Mrs. Jarvis.

''And you'll testify to that?" asked Ms. Yvette..

''Sure...Now you girls, help me finish off these beers..I think I'd better be gettin home." she laughed..

and in the corner..

''Latimer is a Bayside Police Officer...I met him in a Bar in Bayside.. This was our second date if you want to call it that...He totally freaked out when I told him that he'd struck a fellow cop that night, A Lieutenant on the Philadelphia Police force...He was so freaked out that by the time he got back to my place...He couldn't perform, if you know what I mean..I told him not to worry about it, but he called your department and apologized profusely...He claimed he didn't want anything to get in the way of his promotion."explained Jill.

"How would it have affected his promotion? We are teo different police forces, plus, I didn't even know the guy was a cop."said an incredulous Lt. Tragg.

"I tried to explain that to him, but he just wouldn't listen...and after his uh lack of performance at my place...I don't think I'll be seeing him anytime soon."said Jill.

Lt. Tragg had his hand up her skirt and nearly had it hiked completely up, rubbing her butt and gently pulling at the waistband of her panties.. He wasn't really listening to what she was saying...

"You're still Handsy Hank...Pay for our drinks and let's get out of here, go back to my place." she said and removed his hands and pulled her skirt down...

They went back to her apartment and for the first time in months they made sweet love

Ms. Jade and Yvette took one Uber and Olive and Mrs. Jarvis took another one. They all agreed Mrs. Jarvis would be safer, knowing what she knew in an undisclosed location...So Mrs. Jarvis packed an an overnite bag and booked herself in the same hotel Olive was staying in.

We were all at home...

Bee Bee was wearing a sheer see through Baby doll.....She had just taken a hot shower and walked into our bedroom..

"I wonder how things turned out for Ms. Yvette,Jade and Olive? I hope they didn't run into Lt. Tragg."
