Won't Get Lucky Twice.

FRIDAY MORNING!

Sam Mother's Diner has always been a place where Lawyers, Cops, Politicians ,Businessmen of all walks of life have come to eat and talk...Today was no different... Trevor Hamilton, Millionaire Developer was having a business meeting with two perspective clients..

They all were having pancakes, hash browns ,bacon and coffee..

Lt. Tragg could care less..He was at the counter having his usual, Fried eggs over easy, Hash  Browns, Sausages and Hot Coffee, whining and complaining about how he was being disrespected by the Detectives under him and was getting no support from the brass...

 He didn't see us enter and sit down.. We sat across from Trevor Hamilton and his colleagues...They didn't know us, so us sitting across from them attracted little  to no attention..

We ordered our breakfasts and began to eat...

Sofia walked over to their table..

"Mr. Trevor Hamilton?" she said sweetly...

He looked at her pretty legs and shapely figure and smiled..

"And what can I do for you?" he asked, leering at her breasts..

"You can show up in court next week when we call you."said  Bee Bee, plopping a subpoena in his lap..

"WHAT?"  IN COURT?" he bellowed.

''We are attorneys representing Effrom Burke..on trial for the murder of Lenny Fischer...Your testimony is tantamount to his defense." said Kahlil.

"We'll see you in court sir." I said.

Lt. Tragg saw the entire thing from the counter..

"WHAT THE HELL?" he snarled and naturally walked over to our table.

"WHAT WAS THE MEANING OF ALL OF THAT?" he demanded to know.

"We were serving a subpoena for a witness for the defense....We do it almost every case we have. Nothing new." said Bee Bee.

"WHERE IS YVETTE? I'M GOING BACK TO YOUR OFFICE WITH YOU AND DEMANDING AN EXPLANATION FOR THIS!" he bellowed.

"No you're not...besides..She's off today as are we...This is just one last thing we had to do." said Sofia.

"We are all going to a candle light wedding tonight.." I said.

"Someone you know...ADA Natalie Tennison and Attorney David Charles are getting married tonight..."said Kahlil as we continued eating..

"I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN IT...SHE'S HAD THAT WHIPPED CREAM ATTORNEY WRAPPED AROUND HER FINGER SINCE SHE MET HIM!!!  GETTING BACK TO YOU!! WHAT THE HELL HAS HE GOT TO DO WITH THE BURKE TRIAL?" he asked..

 We were no longer talking to him...We were ignoring him and finishing our meals the best we could.

"Kahlil and I picked up our tuxes while you and Sofia were getting your dresses." I said.

"Bev and Josie got nice dresses, we were in the shop with them..."said Bee Bee.

"Did you see Natalie's gown?? WOWWWW!" said Sofia...

"My man David is as cool as a cucumber...We all took him out last night to Aqua Bar and Stoleys...while you girls were at Natalie's house."said Kahlil.

Lt. Tragg was infuriated at our small talk.,

"I ASKED YOU A QUESTION!!  THE SILENT TREATMENT EH?" he said as he stood over us, staring balefully...

We finished our meals and paid our bills..

"See you...I'll tell Natalie and David you send your regards."said Bee Bee, smiling..

"Have a nice weekend Lieutenant." I said ,also with a smile.

"Ouuu he pisses me the hell off." said Sofia.,

"Relax...here comes Ms. Jade."said Kahlil.

Jade drove up..We all piled into her car and pulled off.

Jade waved at Lt. Tragg  as she floored it...

Lt. Tragg stood there fuming....

We stopped by Ms. Yvette's house and gave her the news...

"You guys have once again done outstanding work....Get some rest...We got a wedding to go to tonight."said Ms. Yvette.

"I gotta go shower and start putting on my dress.." said Bee Bee.

"Oh Yeah, Me too!" said Sofia.

"Well homey, our tuxes are ready..." I said.

"Yupper." said Kahlil...

"I  gotta go get dressed too!" said Jade.

II-

The Church was crowded....

The Mini Buses transported everybody to the wedding except, Natalie, Brookie, Sean, Lem and Zoey..They came in a limo..

A Bentley that Lem rented just for the occassion...

Everybody was sharp...

Ms. Yvette, Gary, Me, Bee Bee, Sofia, Kahlil, Ms. Jade, Danny, Ms. Virginia and Jetty all sat in the front on one side...

Natalie wanted a small wedding...There would be no groomsmen or bridesmaids.. Just a maid of Honot and a Best man..

Sitting in the front on the other side was Olivia, Donnie Ray, Beverly, Nelson, Josie,Paris, Bresha, Tony,Ms. Alfreda and Rockland..

Sitting behind them was Jazzy, Dabnis, Kayla, Ray, Jessica,Chip, Zoey and Lem

Karen Page and her boyfriend, B.L. was also present.

Natalie said we were the only family she had...I didn't know any different...but her  best friends since 9th grade, 

Beverly, Kayla and Jazzy were here...and her present best friend..

Brooke Mars, was there as her maid of honor....

Her husband, Sean Marks..

Sean Marks was David's Best Man...

David looked calm and collect, His Mother and Father and younger sister were there, beaming with pride...They had met Natalie and they loved her...

Natalie was a beautiful bride.. She fought back tears as she said her vows....David softly held and rubbed her hands...She was still finding it hard to believe she was indeed married.

And it was a beautiful candlelight wedding..

Reverend Struthers, who had married all of us was at this service too, marrying these two, who like all of us, had joined this church upon moving around here..

The reception was held in the churches basement like so many of ours...we partied until midnight

We all cheered as David and Natalie, the newly married couple drove off..

to the airport , where he dropped the car off and they headed to make their flight towards their honeymoon.

III-

MONDAY MORNING- 9:30 AM

Judge Elise Clemmons was hearing our case....

Ms. Yvette, Myself, Bee Bee, Sofia , Kahlil, Ms. Jade and  Effrom all sat on our side at our table.

"I think we can win this in the preliminaries guys..." said Ms. Yvette, who yawned a bit..

''We had quite a weekend didn't we?" I said.

"Oh that wedding was beautiful..I almost cried and Saturday Night at the Roller Skating Rink...was so much fun with those D.J.'s out of Camden.

and then Sunday at Josies...

I love Jazz Brunch" said Sofia.

"We all shoulda stayed in...We knew we had a case today..."Laughed Kahlil...

"Instead you all went to the movies Sunday Night...Olivia, Donnie Ray, Beverly, Nelson, Josie, Bresha, Tony, Jazzy, Dabnis ,Jessie, Chip, Kayla and Ray 

took off today...We got a court appearence." said Jade, laughing.

Effrom smiled-

"Ah, you only live once." he said, smiling

While ADA Jill Baranski and Lt. Tragg sat at their table.. With him still rubbing her legs and trying to slip his hands up her skirt..

"TAKE YOUR HANDS FROM UNDER MY SKIRT AND TAKE YOUR HANDS OFF MY LEGS....IF I HAVE TO TELL YOU AGAIN I AM GOING TO SLAP THE HELL OUT OF YOU!!   I told you to recanvas, you didn't, I told you to interview more people..YOU DID NOT!! I ASKED YOU TO GO OVER THAT BOAT, THE CRIME SCENE...YOU DID NOT....I ASKED SGT. BRICE AND SGT SMITH to go over the crime scene and report to me...You ordered them off the case and wrote them up, Now I don't know what they discovered... AND YOU HAVE THE NERVE TO FEEL ON MY LEGS? HAH! YOU GOT LUCKY ONCE...YOU WON'T GET LUCKY TWICE!" she snarled.

Lt. Tragg looked like he'd swallowed a canary...He sat there with a blank baleful stare...

ADA Flint ran her case the way we expected....

"Your Honor.. On and About said date...Mr. Burke is charged with shooting and killing one Lenny Fischer and weighing his body down with a cement cinder block and dropping him into the ocean, never to be seen again...Due to the extremely cruel nature of this crime, we ask that Mr. Burke be held held over for trial on the charge of Murder in the First Degree.." said  Jill Baranski.

She presented five witnesses.. Gay men, all associates of both Lenny and Effrom, who testified about their volatile relationship and how it was falling apart during the last weeks of Lenny's life..

If we seemed a little tired from our big weekend..We came to life... We were prepared with questions for them that proved all they knew about was what they had personally seen involving the relationship..That hadn't heard or seen any violence between the two men and hadn't been anywhere near the ship the day before Lenny vanished.

Ms. Yvette sat back and looked at the four of us approvingly...she was so proud of us that a tear almost streamed down her face...at how far we'd come..

''Youth" she said to Ms. Jade and smiled like a proud mother.

'They are good aren't they."said Jade.

''I'll say and I'm an Attorney..You have mentored and trained those four well...You don't have to do much Yvette."said Effrom.

"They do make life easy.."laughed Ms. Yvette.

Jill presented "Crime Scene Photos" of the boat and photos of luminol where blood was...on the ship...

She interviewed Police and Crime Scene Investigators as well as Medical Examiner personell who were at the scene..

Ms.Yvette cross examined all of her witnesses and got them to admit that they didn't find any of Effrom's prints and DNA on the boat, despite his many visits..In fact they admitted there was not forensic evidence at all or any eyewitnesses linking Effrom to the crime at all.

"Touche Ms. Yvette, Touche' Brenda did not lie...She said you were good.. All five of you are excellent attorneys if I do say so myself." said an impressed Effrom..It was Thursday and so far we were operating on all cylinders knocking down the Prosecutions case.

It was Thursday afternoon...ADA Jill Baranski closed her case....she looked like she'd need the weekend to retool.. We weren't going to give her the chance..

"Mrs. Jones-Lockwood, would you like to present a defense?" asked Judge Clemmons...

"Yes I would...Due to the lateness of the hour...I'd like to begin my defense tomorrow."said Ms. Yvette.

''Alright, we'll meet here tomorrow at 11:00 AM, get a good nights sleep everyone..Be on time and be ready for trial."said Judge Clemmons.

"It's 4:00 pm...I'm going home and get some sleep." said Bee Bee..

"Me too girlfriend..This week has been draining."said Sofia.

"I couldn't agree with you more.."I said.

"We've earned a little rest...We've just about deep sixed her case." said Kahlil.

"Tomorrow is the icing on the cake."said Jade.

"Not long now Effrom.." said Ms. Yvette.

"I'm hanging in there Yvette...I must say...I'm enjoying you guys...You've put on quite a defense." chuckled Effrom..

Lt. Tragg sauntered over to our table..

"You're toast Burke...You're as guilty as sin and I can't wait to see you go down." he said.

"Oh you're going to be so disappointed."laughed Effrom.

THAT NIGHT! MS YVETTE AND GARY's HOUSE-

Ms. Yvette and her husband, Gary had just finished taking a long hot soapy shower together....

''So you guys have been decimating her case huh? And you haven't begun your defense yet?" Gary said.

as he passed Ms. Yvette some Orange Organic Tea he had prepared while she was getting dressed for bed and lotioning down.

"That's right and when I put Trevor on the stand tomorrow, We may wrap this up.." said Yvette.

''Oh Wow!  Lt. Tragg is going to be furious....He's on the Television saying this guy is so obviously guilty that a trial is just a minor distraction from his fate.  He shouldn't be allowed to make statements like that in the middle of a trial."said Gary, smiling.

"You 're right..Now no more shop talk." laughed Yvette playfully as she kissed him slowly and softly, the way he liked.  The way she knew drove him crazy...

They stood in the middle of the floor kissing ...while Gary gingerly slipped her panties down..

"WOWWWW! How did I miss these?" he said.

"Because you weren't in the room when I got dressed this morning." Ms. Yvette laughed.

"WOWWWWW! Let me look at you in these a minute...These really turn me on..."said Gary..

"Of course they do!" laughed Ms. Yvette...

"VETTIE, YOU ARE MY SWEET GIRRRRRRRRRRL" Gary yelled out..

They sat on the side of the bed...Yvette moving up and down on him, kissing him passionately...

"OUUU GARY, YOU ARE SOOO BIG, SO HARD, OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" she moaned.

"OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH LAWWWWWWWD!" he cried out..

Yvette felt so good, tears were just flowing from her eyes....Her head was moving back and forth...

She rode him slowly on the bed.....driving him insane... She was going insane herself....

"OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU IS THAT WHYYYYY???" she asked , having an insanely intense orgasm.....

EIGHT TO NINE HOURS of sweet sweet lovemaking was taking place...

She fell asleep on his chest.... He fell asleep with a big wide grin on his face...

Yvette's phone was on the night stand by the bed..It wasn't on the charger and it was ringing..

Yvette sleepily answered it..

"Yvette? Did I wake you? This is Effrom! Just wanted to tell you how impressed I've been with you guys this week.. After this trial I'm going to put you guys on retainer .perhaps we can work on some cases in the future. I'm so jazzed, I can't sleep!!!"he said.

''That's wonderful Effrom..Good Night!" sighed Yvette. She put her phone on the charger and turned it off...

Gary smiled when she got back in bed and lay on top of him...

"Ummmmmmmmm lawyers life." he said softly rubbing her butt....

"Yessssssssssssssss lawyers life..." she said, kissing him softly  and drifting back off into a peaceful sleep.

IV-

FRIDAY MORNING , 11:00 AM- COURTROOM A-

The Prosecution had closed their case and has asked that Effrom be held over for trial for first degree murder...Jill Baranski definitely wanted more time, a few days to beef her case up...She had thought about hiring an investigator from the D.A.'s office to look into this case further... Unfortunately, unknown to her, this case was about to collapse right in front of her, today...

Lt. Tragg had called her the past two nights, always late, begging to come over... She flatly refused him.. Like she said.. He got lucky once, but he wasn't getting lucky twice! Not with her!

Ms. Yvette called our only witness...Trevor Hamilton..Millionaire socialite.. He was already planning to do just as his wife had unsuccessfully tried to do about three years prior, sue McCluskey/Cozen/Connor and Pratt for Libel and slander for even issuing him a subpoena and subjecting him to this kind of media scrutiny...

As he walked up to the stand and was sworn in , he glared at the five of us...Sitting with Effrom...

The Attorneys and the Defendent represented a spectrum...African American, Latino, Arab, Asian and LGBTQ....

Yvette introduced a Fire Extinguisher...

''Ever see this before Mr. Hamilton?" she asked.

He looked incredulous... "NO WHY WOULD I?? IT's a common everyday fire extinguisher." he said.

"It's not just any fire extinguisher...It's a fire extinguisher from off of Lenny Fischer's boat..." said Ms. Yvette.

I showed the jury enlarged photos of the boat, Crime Scene Photos and matched the Fire Extinguishers

code numbers....

"I have three people from the Medical Examiners Office and two crime scene investigators who will testify that Lenny Fischer's blood and brain matter were found on this fire extinguisher..He was struck on the head and either knocked unconscious or stunned with this.. before YOU SHOT HIM!!" said Yvette.

"WHATTTTT? this is outrageous..."he protested...

"Your fingerprints are on the fire extinguisher...You forgot to wipe it down.... The Three Medical Examiner employees and the Crime Scene Investigators will testify to that too!" said Sofia...

Kahlil displayed a spread of photos taken by Lenny from his last shoot...They were Nudes of his wife, Candace and photos of her in hot sexy lingerie..

"The Reason is this....Your wife was spending a lot of time on this boat with Lenny...He was a photographer...She paid him...We have credit card receipts to prove it to do this photographic spread.for her...Maybe she was planning to give this to you as a gift..I don't know." said Kahlil softly..

"We'll never know... What we do know is that you were, you are a very jealous man and you followed her there ...We traced your movements through your phone's GPS that day...You were there..."said Bee Bee..

"You saw your wife leave that boat....You thought she was having an affair with Mr. Fischer...What you didn't know was that Mr. Fischer was Gay....Your wife wasn't having an affair with him...You killed this man for nothing...He was innocent.. You told the police, you didn't know Mr. Fischer and never been on his boat...Yet your fingerprints are on this fire extinguisher...They have no business being there..And the cement you bought two days before....That is no where to be found on your property...That was the cement you used to weigh him down after you murdered him, so he'd never be found again....right Mr. Hamilton?" asked Yvette..

He uncharactoristically broke down into tears...

"I knew she was having an affair with someone...I knew it... I love my wife insanely....but I couldn't satisfy here...I COULDN'T!!!! I KNEW IT WAS SOMEBODY....I KNEW IT!!! ARGHHHHHHHHHH!" he broke down , shaking and crying.... I KILLED THE WRONG MAN....I KILLED THE WRONG MANNNNN ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" he cried out!

"Bailiffs, take this man into custody......Mr. Burke, all charges against you are dismissed!"said Judge Clemmons.

Ironically enough, the man who was sleeping with his wife....His own attorney, Jeremy Tobin was there in court...He witnessed his breakdown....He smiled at Yvette manaicallly....

Yvette just shook her head...She was merely trying to get her client off..Which she had successfully done, not help him with his adultress affair.

"Vettie, sweet Yvette, I see us doing business in the nearby future...Like I said.. I'm putting you guys on retainer..."said Effrom...

"That's wonderful Effrom, just no more three in the morning calls okay?" laughed Yvette.

"Ohhh, sorry!" he laughed sheepishly...He turned to Bee Bee and Sofia.. You two are worth your weight in gold." he said.

"Well after this past weekend...I'm going to be working some of that weight off in the gym." said Bee Bee laughing..

"That makes two of us."laughed Sofia..

"I may be gay, but I know what straight men like...I'm sure neither of your husbands mind" Effrom joked..

"I certainly don't...LAWDDDD!" I said, looking at Bee Bee's rear end..

"Ohhhhhh stop it.,"laughed Bee Bee, blushing..

"And I certainly don't mind." said Kahlil..

"Ouuuuuu Papi, you're soooo badddd!" said Sofia.

Jade cracked up laughing...

"Hi Sis!" said Jill.

"Tough Break in there sis, but at least you didn't send an innocent man to prison..."said her sister Diane Baranski, also an ADA..

"Come on...I know a nice place we can all eat... Great food."said Diane's boyfriend, Attorney

Jake Patais, known as "Lawyer Bae" to the female attorneys...

The Big Loser was Lt. Tragg...He had once again arrested the wrong man , once again done a half assed investigation and it looked like he wouldn't be sleeping with either Baranski sister ever again. He clearly wasn't going to get lucky twice!

EPILOUGE-

Trevor Hamilton was convicted of General Murder and sentenced to 50 years...For him, that's a life sentence..

Ms. Yvette took us all to a nice Rooftop restaurant.. That served excellent pasta.

"Put your wallets away.. This is on the company card...We'll call it an after case debreifing" laughed Ms. Yvette.

''You're so good to us."said Sofia..

"You deserve it...You guys practically ran this case.. I did very little...I'm proud of you all and how far you've come." said Ms. Yvette, smiling.

"Anybody hear anything about Natalie and David.?? It's been a week..They're in sunny Barbados...Where Virginia and Jetty went...

"Oh they probably haven't seen any of the island.. They're still in bed..."I said.

"I'm afraid my sex obsessed husband is right...judging by the way David looks at Natalie...and by memories of my own honeymoon I'd say that's a fair statement."said Bee Bee.

She high fived Ms. Jade and everybody laughed..
