VENTURES: David and Natalie

The Church was crowded....

The Mini Buses transported everybody to the wedding except, Natalie, Brookie, Sean, Lem and Zoey..they came in a limo..

A Bentley that Lem rented just for the occassion...

Everybody was sharp...

Ms. Yvette, Gary, Keith, Bee Bee, Sofia, Kahlil, Ms. Jade, Danny, Ms. Virginia and Jetty all sat in the front on one side...

Natalie wanted a small wedding...There would be no groomsmen or bridesmaids.. Just a maid of Honot and a Best man.. There was 33 people in the church...That was small.. Her closest friends,,,Many of these people , neither one of them knew a year ago...

Sitting in the front on the other side was Olivia, Donnie Ray, Beverly, Nelson, Josie,Paris, Bresha, Tony,Ms. Alfreda and Rockland..

Sitting behind them was Jazzy, Dabnis, Kayla, Ray, Jessica,Chip, Zoey and Lem

Karen Page and her boyfriend, B.L. was also present.

Natalie said we were the only family she had... Her best friends since 9th grade, Beverly, Kayla and Jazzy were here.. I walked her down the aisle as I had Kayla and Jazzy before her....I didn't have to walk Beverly because her father was there to walk her..

.and her present best friend..

Brooke Mars, was there as her maid of honor....

Brooke's husband, Sean Marks..

was David's Best Man...

David looked calm and collect, His Mother and Father and younger sister were there, beaming with pride...They had met Natalie and they loved her...

Natalie was a beautiful bride.. She fought back tears as she said her vows....David softly held and rubbed her hands...She was still finding it hard to believe she was indeed married.

And it was a beautiful candlelight wedding..

Reverend Struthers, who had married all of us was at this service too, marrying these two, who like all of us, had joined this church upon moving around here..

The reception was held in the church's basement like so many of ours...We partied until midnight

We all cheered as David and Natalie, the newly married couple drove off..

to the airport , where he dropped the car off and they headed to make their flight towards their honeymoon.

For Natalie, this had all happened so fast....Her head was spinning...

For David, it hadn't happened soon enough...Natalie had no idea ,how long he had liked her secretly, had longed for her silently ,without her ever knowing it..

They spent the week in bed...but the next week...They finally went out and enjoyed the beach...

The beautiful water....

The stores and shops on the beautiful Marina..

Natalie was a long way from the West Philly Projects and the Urine smelling hallways of the apartments she grew up in... She had applied herself in school with an almost obsessive laser focus on one thing...getting an education and escaping her humble surroundings... Her studies paid off, She wound up going to Masterman, the middle school for students with the best grades....

There she met a kindred spirit...Jasmine Jenkins, also from West Philly , who like her was determined to escape her impoverished surroundings... They both wound up in Girls High where they met and befriended Beverly West and her cousin, Kayla..

The four became fast friends and were inseperable through High School and through four years of college at Temple...Natalie went her seperate way after college, going to law school at Georgetown , while her childhood friends, Jasmine, Kayla and Beverly all went to PENN LAW. She ran into Kayla in Atlanta one year during the Black Lawyers Consortium.Kayla had told her that Beverly and Jazzy were Public Defenders...

She was soo grateful after all these years to be reunited with her best buds again and this time permanantly, living in the same neighborhood ,working in the same building with Jazzy and Kayla and hanging out with them, their husbands and the whole gang..

Beverly and her Auntie,

the one she always talked about ,who was only a few years older than her had started their own law firm with three additional attorneys, including her husband, An investigator...Her aunt's husband and an Office Manager...Bev's Mom...They were quite successful and on the Television after winning controversial cases.

Jazzy had gone from Public Defender to Assistant District Attorney to the Private Sector.

Kayla had done well in Atlanta for herself and had moved back to Philly, gotten married and was working in the Private Sector with Jazzy.

She loved working down the hall from them

David had once again enjoyed the hospitality and true friendship he had experienced the second time he was staying at Olivia and Beverly's Office /Duplex..

Olivia and Beverly kept him well fed as well as their staff and their significant others..

At nights Beverly and Nelson were great hosts in their domicile, along with Josie and Paris, Jazzy and Dabnis and Kayla and Ray, Playing cards, laughing and talking, with Beverly, Kayla and Jazzy all telling funny stories about Natalie and them when they were young girls....and the Night they all drove up to Jake's and got Hot Dogs...

It was a fun week and they did their best to keep his mind off of the fact that Natalie wasn't exactly there.

He would never forget their friendship and how well they treated him....

Now he had his Natalie, never to be seperated again....

As they walked along the beaches and shopping districts....

Stopping every chance they got, to walk on to a side street and kiss passionately... Neither one of them would ever forget these past two weeks...or the time leading up to it.

MONDAY MORNING...

Natalie and David were back in their office building...in their cafeteria.... It was early...No one actually knew they were home yet...They had stayed in a hotel near the airport the night they returned for some much needed privacy..

"WOWWW!! you know this is the first time in my career I've had an office of my own as opposed to a cubicle....I love this...I gotta pull my phone out and photograph this...Mom would be proud!! Thank you Ms. Page." said David.

"You're welcome....You all deserve it...Between the three of you...You've won 57 consecutive cases since you've been here and this office is still undefeated...We've got the highest clearence of cases in the entire D.A's office."said Karen..

Natalie walked down to David's office... She ran her index finger across his lips..

"Of course you won't be able to stare at me all day long anymore...but uh...I'm not against coming down here to see how you're doing every now and then.." she whispered...
