and Yvette Jones....Now Yvette Jones Lockwood, a partner at McCluskey/Cozen/Connor & Pratt

Olivia and Yvette or Liv and Vettie as Karen called them...Her besties. Two cute Black girls.....He wouldn't have minded sleeping with either....

They hung out in a bar called Josie's

And then at the newly opened, Aqua Bar...

They took and passed the Bar Exam the same day and were sworn in as Attorneys....

He moved back to Philadelphia and married another young attorney and they too divorced.....He looked up Karen, but was told she had married....A Black Civil Rights Attorney named Lloyd Cantrell and moved to San -Francisco.  He was in Washington D.C. when he heard Karen's husband had been murdered and she had returned to Philadelphia and was working in the D.A.'s office...

Now he was back and she was the Head of the Wrongful Conviction/Conviction Integrity Unit and had a staff of three bright and very capable young attorneys working for her.

She was also recently married again to Attorney/Talk Show Host and Podcaster B.L. Benz, host of "HARD BOTTOM" He had never liked that show much.....

Now as fate would have it. He'd be facing her and her staff in a retrial soon...

She was married now for the second time... a widower and he was twice divorced....Strange how things happen.

II-

SAM MOTHER'S DINER-

Karen sat in Sam Mother's Diner with her good friends...Olivia, her niece Beverly and their team...They had just finished trying a case... 

"Hi Karen...Wow...we just finished a hell of a case..." said Olivia, smiling.

 

"The Case had some twists and turns but we got an acquittal." said Donnie Ray,.

"The Best thing about it was...as complicated as it was..it didn't involve one Lt. Arthur Tragg at all." said Beverly...

"No and everything fell right into place."said Nelson..

"I'm just glad to be able to take off my heels and sit down in peace.."said Josie.

"And I as well." said Bresha.

Their Breakfasts arrived...

"I'm happy for you guys.... My case does involve him......In fact here come my guys now with the information I sent them to court for." said Karen...

Natalie, Brooke and I entered just then...

"Hi Liv,Beverly, Donnie Ray, Nelson, Josie and Bree...Well Boss Lady, we got the information you wanted.."said Natalie.

''We'll be facing a new ADA...Assistant District Attorney Effrom Jordan.." said Brooke.

"He's a new guy....I've never heard of him." I said.

"He's not THAT new!  Is he Karen?" said Olivia smiling....

"You know him Boss Lady?" asked Brooke....

"Yes.... The summer after Liv, Ms. Yvette and I graduated from law school.. We kept running into him...He had graduated from Columbia Law school in New York and had passed the Bar in New York about three weeks before us.. It seemed everywhere we were , he turned up.....Olivia and Yvette kept telling me he had the hots for me, but I didn't believe it....I just thought he was a nice guy. He always bought all three of us drinks when he saw us.Not just me."said Karen.

"But no guy is THAT nice...He wanted something didn't he?" laughed Natalie..

"Of course....He wanted to get in my panties!  And he kept on until he got in them....He was a nice guy...

We had a nice summer together after we passed the bar.... A very nice summer together OUUUUUU! ....Come the fall, he took a job in New York, I took a job....I met my first husband, Lloyd Cantrell and moved to San-Francisco and that was that. All and All...He was a nice guy.." said Karen...

"Wow....So after all these years you two haven't seen each other....This is going to be something huh?" I asked.

''Just another day in court David...I heard he was married and divorced twice.....I've been married, widowed and remarried..Lived in San-Francisco, While He's Lived in New York and D.C......We've come full circle....I'm certain we are both different people now..."said Karen.

Our coffees and teas arrived...

Lt. Tragg arrived with Judge Kelly Ann Mercer...

There was a lipstick smudge on his collar and on his cheek...He had a pleased as punch look on his face..

Her hair was a little mussed....She looked out of breath......

They took a table a few tables over from all of us..

"He looks like he's in a daze." said Natalie...

"Lord, She is blowing his mind in the bed and elsewhere.....He sees all of us in here and he didn't walk over to our table or say a word to us."exclaimed Beverly...

''Makes dining in here bearable again huh?" said Brooke

THE NEXT DAY-

VALHALLA WOMEN'S DETENTION CENTER-PHILADELPHIA.

Bull Bailey was working today at checkout......

"I swear it's as if he has ESP....He knows when Brookie is coming."I laughed..

"I know right?" said Natalie... We didn't go inside today... Only Brooke went in...She had some clothes for Sylena to wear...

"Hey guys!" said Brooke as they left the detention center....

Brooke emerged with newly freed Sylena Kyle. She had  on a new dress and had her hair styled..

She looked great.

"Thank you all soooooo much for getting me out....You all are terrific. It feels so good to be free after two years." said Sylena.

"There is still the matter of your retrial....but we're working on it and we are certain , we can get you off." I said.

"We are acting as your attorneys  and your probation officers.."said Brooke

''And we've got you set up in a Halfway house....A Temporary dwelling until you can get yourself together." said Natalie.

"Let's get out of here....I know you want to get a hot shower and some food and sleep on some fresh sheets.." I said.

"Oh you have read my mind." said a newly freed Sylena...

We got in Natalie's car and we pulled off...

Bull Bailey watched us until our car was out of sight....How he wanted Brooke...How he wanted her sooo bad.

We took Sylena to Sam Mother's Diner for dinner...

and then to the halfway house where she would be staying....It was a big upgrade from prison....She had fresh,clean clothes....could shower when she wanted and go to bed or not go to bed when she wanted...

It was great....We were all happy for her...

THURSDAY NIGHT-CAMDEN

One of Olivia and Beverly's grateful clients got free tickets for us to attend a baseball game... and so instead of going to Curley's for "Couples Night" we all went to a Baseball game..The Camden Riversharks were playing. Our Friend, Charlotte joined us....

"Thanks for inviting me out guys....And thank you for taking care of my girl Sylena." said Charlotte.

''Thank you  for accepting our invitation. Nothing is more fun than a Baseball game in the summer." said Brooke..

"And this is a great night for it." said Sean....

"Olivia always looks out for us, for everybody....She could just be taking her own team on these junkets." said Natalie.

"I know...She takes us all...and all we have to pay for is our food. She provided Transportation, Free tickets....the works..gotta love her." I said.

 "Olivia is a doll." said Charlotte.

 "My bestie since day one of law school.." said Yvette.

"A good Bestie to have." laughed Yvette's husband, Gary.

"And we got great seats too...The best..." said Keith Jones..

"And together too!" said Bee Bee.

"This is something different...from Couples Night." said Sofia.

"It's nice that we changed it up the past few weeks." said Kahlil..

"Yes..This is very nice...We'll all come home sober for a change." said Jade.

"Speak for yourself "laughed her husband, who was downing a few beers.

"At least you aint driving" joked Ms. Virginia.

"And I'm not either." said her husband, Jetty..

Who was downing a few beers himself..

We were all filling up on Hot Dogs, Soda and Popcorn...

Olivia leaned back into her husband's lap and smiled serenely.......

"Such a nice warm night nd so nice to have all of our friends here." she said.

 

''My dear, you're an Attorney/Businesswoman and Social Director..." joked Donnie Ray,hugging her..

Beverly was sitting on her husband's lap enjoying a hot dog...

"They aren't as good as Jake's, but they'll do." she said.

Nelson too was  enjoying a hot dog and a Coke...no drinking tonight for him...

Josie and her husband Paris were engrossed in the game, while munching on Hot Buttered popcorn..

"Ouuu Look he got a double...you think he'll steal third base?" she asked.

"Nah ,he's going to stay put.." said Paris..

"They've got no outs....He's not desperate..He can hang tight for a minute." said Bresha.

"Listen at my baby analyzing the game."laughed Tony....

Alfreda was sitting on Rockland's lap...enjoying a Hot Dog and Popcorn...

While Rockland munched on Pop Corn and drank a beer.

"Ummmmmmm nice hot Popcorn..." said Jazzy...
 

Her husband, Dabnis was engrossed in the game and quaffing a beer and munching on a hot dog...

While Kayla was enjoying hot buttered popcorn and sipping on a soda.

Her Husband Ray like Dabnis was engrossed in the game..

Jessica , a big baseball fun was enjoying the game also and munching on a Hot Dog and Popcorn...

Her husband , Chip was enjoying the game too and eating a hot dog....

"Ohhhhh Karen, look over yonder into the next row.," whispered Charlotte..

Assistant District Attorney, Effrom Jordan was also at the game.. He peered over and saw Karen, what looked like her husband, Olivia Bennett-Alexander, her husband and her niece Beverly and Yvette Jones and her husband, Gary Lockwood...  "Those three are still together..."he thought and smiled.

Karen was stoic...She saw him and she knew he saw her...She kept her cool..

Her husband, B.L. was oblivious to everything..

"Hey Nat, pass me some corn." said Charlotte..."And thanks again for taking care of Sylena." said Charlotte.

"All in a days work Charlotte, but you know that!" said Natalie with a smile, passing her the tub of Popcorn we had.

"This is a good game, you a fan?" I asked Brooke.

"Oh yeah, from way back..."said Brooke, who like me was engrossed in the game..

Sean had his arm around her and was eating popcorn with his other hand...

Zoey wasn't really into Baseball, but she liked the fellowship, She liked being out at this event with these friends on this night...

So did her husband, Lem... Though he was engrossed in the game...

Renee felt like Zoey...She wasn't really into Baseball, but she liked the fellowship, She liked being out at this event with these friends on this night...She wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else...

Her husband Tyrell was happy for her..She was with her closest friends from High School and all of their new friends.

It was a great night for us.....

But elsewhere!

in the teaming city of Philadelphia.....

"Black male, age 47, took  two shots...one to the back of the head and one square in the back....it severed his spinal cord.... Either shot could have caused instant death.." said a CSI Man as another snapped photos..

"He hasn't been dead long.. about an hour.....I'd say." said Dr. Hazel Baylor, Coroner and Forensic Investigator.

"His drivers license says he's" said Dr. Marcy Templeton...

"Charlie Graham....Good Time Charlie Graham, that's who he is.." said Lt. Tragg , who had just arrived on the scene.." He was a Loan Shark and a Gambler...big time Gambler... a leg breaker....I can't tell you how many legs he's broken, fingers he's broken of people who couldn't pay up for whoever he was collecting for and we never could get nothin on the guy....People wouldn't testify....they were too scared. He was a cheap hood who just got out the joint a few months ago... heh heheh, I knew he was gonna end up like this eventually." said Lt. Tragg.

As Charlie's body was put in a white body bag and strapped to a gurney...
