Not A One Off

 THE OFFICE OF ASSISTANT UNITED STATES ATTORNEY MICHAEL LAWRENCE...

Assistant United States Attorney, Michael Lawrence was busy looking at some case files of upcoming cases when he looked up and saw Ms. Yvette, myself, Bee Bee, Sofia, Kahlil and Ms. Jade standing in his office...

"WELLLLLLLLL...I never expected to get a visit from the esteemed attorney Mrs. Yvette Jones-Lockwood and her young colleagues....To what do I owe this visit?" he asked. 

 "We are here to ask you to dismiss these ridiculous charges against  our  client.. You don't have a case, not even the beginnings of a case against him...Not one eyewitness that places him at the scene...No record of him having anything to do with the drug game or any wrong doing whereever he's been ir any violence...You've got nothing...You take this weak crap to trial and we will humiliate you worse than those other trials you were involved in last year..."said Yvette.

"Save yourself the embarrassment."I said.

"Lt. Tragg made this case....You know his track record...Think of the Lincoln Lewis cases...Why would you want to go down that road?" asked Bee Bee.

"We are thinking, you're smarter than that..Drop this case...Drop these charges...You've got nothing and we mean nothing..."said Sofia.

"I've seen some weak cases....and this one takes the case.. Save us all some time and trouble..You don't want to go to trial with this."said Kahlil.

"I'm an ex-homicide detective and I've looked at this case from all sides..I wouldn't have even made an arrest this soon...but then I'm not Lt. Tragg...I'm not stupid!" said Ms. Jade.

AUSA Mike Lawrence leaned back in his chair...Then he laughed..."You guys sound desperate.." he said.

He showed us a glossy of Nadine Raymond.

"This is the late Dr. Nadine Raymond...."Last year Dr. Nadine Raymond was arrested at her last job, Bayside Methodist Hospital after she was accused of repeatedly stealing drugs from a hospital and swapping them out with saline earlier this year. According to court documents, Dr. Raymond, 35, has been charged with three felony counts of Diversion of Controlled Substance. Raymond  was charged for the incidents that authorities said took place in the Bayside Pa. Medical Center from April 2022 to May 2023. A law enforcement officer said they were made aware by the Director of Pharmacy at Bayside Methodist about several syringes and vials that, during his routine inventory check, appeared to have been tampered with in the nurses’ station’s automatic dispensing cabinet.

Upon further investigation, court records show Dr. Raymond had access to these syringes and had drawn up some Hydromorphone and Fentanyl before replacing the drugs with normal saline solution and putting the tampered vials and syringes back into the cabinet. “On April 20, 2023, at 07:13 hours, (Raymond) went to the M8N_NE Pyxis and overrode a transaction. (The) affiant observed (Raymond) selecting hydromorphone and removing the substance from the vial with a syringe. (McNeilly) also selected saline and removed the substance with a syringe. (Raymond) then filled the empty hydromorphone with the saline solution. (McNeilly) was observed on video surveillance 11 times total between the dates of April 20, 2023, and May 10, 2023, adulterating hydromorphone with saline.” On April 24 and 25, and again on May 5, she’s accused of doing the same thing with the saline and a vial of Fentanyl. Court records show that on one of those days, Dr. Raymond was caught on surveillance injecting herself in the hand with a Fentanyl syringe before returning to work. The pharmacy manager of the hospital stated McNeilly was overriding their automatic drug dispensing system and accessing medicine that was not prescribed to her or her patients by a pharmacist. “The adulterated medicine, now back in circulation, then had the potential to be administered by other medical professionals to patients, unaware that the medicine had been tampered with,” the court documents stated. When confronted with the video evidence on May 15, Dr. Raymond admitted to gaining access to the drugs but said she threw them away. She was then asked why she took the medications to which she responded, “I hear voices telling me to do it.” She ultimately denied taking the drugs at work despite investigators saying that they noticed visible bruises on her arms. After the evidence was gathered, Dr. Raymond was fired immediately from Bayside Methodist Hospital. The hospital shared the following statement with TV10 News. “This employee’s conduct was unacceptable and never tolerated at Bayside Methodist. The employee was fired immediately and law enforcement was notified. We have extensive safeguards in place to protect our patients.”

Her charges were mysteriously dropped.....

People at her most recent job, Mendelson Clinic in Philadelphia were unaware of her recent legal troubles. or so they say...But The DEA has been watching her all along...She was definitely our target." he said.

''Did you just hear yourself ?  First off you didn't tell us anything we didn't already know...regarding the deceased...Second of all you haven't mentioned our client once...He has nothing to do with this.."said Yvette.

"I know he was married to City Coroner, Dr. Marcy Templeton and that they left Philadelphia for Seattle , where he preceded to bed, A married Surgeon and the wife of the Hospital Administrator...He was subsequently let go ,though not officially...He was quietly asked to turn in his resignation...Which is why he has a cushy job at Mendelson...I know that the ink wasn't dry on his divorce papers before he was in the bed, sexing and strangling Dr. Raymond.."laughed Mike Lawrence.

"Hearsay and Gossip...Has nothing to do with Murder or drugs." said Bee Bee.

"And you still have no proof of Murder or Drug involvement...None whatsoever." said Sofia.

"Come on Mannnnn." said Kahlil..

"I'll have plenty of proof to present at trial." said Michael Lawrence..

"Sure you will"laughed Jade.

"I didn't think you'd drop the charges...but I had a wager with my girls here."said Yvette.

Bee Bee and Sofia passed Ms. Yvette a dollar each...They had bet her...

"See You in court counselor." said Ms. Yvette.

"You know I started to bet Ms. Yvette myself.. but that was a sucker's bet."said  Kahlil..

I laughed as we walked out of his office..

"Bye for now.." said Jade, smiling....

He smiled confidently until we were gone...Then he sat back with a look of pure dread....He knew deep down inside of him...He knew we were right. He needed more information on Dr. Martin.

II-

Back at our building , it was business as usual...

In The Conference room , Ms. Yvette did research with Bee Bee and Sofia....The Three women researched Federal Capital Cases, laws pertaining to them...Predicates and Case law in general...

"Federal Cases are a little more complex than State Cases.... I've studied this prosecutor....Mike Lawrence...He's as slick as canned grease....What we did today was simular to poking the bear...

He won't forget it and he won't stop." said Yvette.

"Yeah, but he's got little to nothing...Except for his love life, our client is squeaky clean...not even a parking ticket." said Sofia.

''Actually, he has six parking tickets..All paid...but I get what you're saying Sofia and I get what Ms. Yvette is saying...Where there is a small hole, he'll drive a larger one." said Bee Bee.

"Right...so we have to have our facts straight and be prepared for anything." said Ms. Yvette.

Ms. Virginia found our research on this case intriguing too...As an Attorney , she hadn't tried many federal cases...She sat with us and aptly helped with the research...She found she was learning things as well.. 

"I'm learning so much extra stuff that I didn't know when I was practicing.. A Decade makes a difference,,, The Practice of law changes like everything else." she said.

She kept Yvette and the girls supplied with tumblers of hot coffee as well.

Later on that day in our media room.... Ms. Yvette and Ms. Jade, helped, Kahlil and I pick potential jurors for this case...

''We want Young Urban Professional jurors who are open minded..." said Ms. Yvette.

"Easier said than done..Those are the type who try to get out of jury duty..."I laughed..

"Let's hope among these people, we find people willing to do their civic duty..." laughed Kahlil.

Ms. Jade did  thorough background checks on each juror we looked at as possible and then some alternate jurors...

Once again, Ms. Virginia learned from us about Trial Science, picking jurors...studying the psyche of the potential juror...Something she hadn't done when she had been a practicing attorney.

"This is fascinating....I love working here with you young people and learning all of this new stuff." she said.

Ms. Virginia supplied us with hot tumblers of coffee 

Later on we met in our conference room for a Portal Conference with our client,  Dr.William Martin

"You guys are really earning your money....I'm grateful...I just want this to end.." said Dr. Martin

by way of Portal.

 

 ''We are ready to go... Your Trial begins Monday Morning..."said Ms. Yvette.

''From what we can see of the Government's Case.. It might end on Tuesday." I laughed.

"Yeah...this is a stinker."said my wife ,Bee Bee.

"Never have I seen a case so weak. And we've seen some weak cases." said Sofia.

"That's for sure." laughed Kahlil.

"I'm still investigating...Still trying to find just who might have done this. I've discovered that she was close friends with a woman, who also left the Hospital in Bayside days after she did and wound up working at Mendelson just days after she arrived..I'm checking her bank records right now." said Jade.

"You guys are very thorough...Always Good to know. Thank you." said Dr. Martin.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Todd Dellums walked into Mike Lawrence's Office....

"Good Afternoon Mike." he said.

"Afternoon Todd...What brings you by my office?" he asked.

"I'm worried about this case... I think you're going in the wrong direction with Dr. William Martin...I don't think he has anything to do with this... I think you should dismiss charges against him...We are already looking at someone else...Another associate of Nadine Raymond....a Woman, who left the hospital in Bayside and wound up working here in Philly, just days after she arrived..." said Todd Dellums.

"You think I don't know what's going on here?  This Morning, Yvette Jones-Lockwood and her four young attorneys and her investigator showed up here asking me to dismiss all charges and now here you are , just hours later...Co-Incidence...I THINK NOT! " said Mike Lawrence..

"I didn't know anything about that." said Todd dryly...

"THE HELL YOU DIDN'T?  I know all about your former fiance, 

Beatrice Evans, now Mrs. Beatrice Evans-Jones..... I know you still carry a torch for her...What? did she call you and ask you to intercede on her client's behalf..??" he snarled.

"No she did not...I have not seen or heard from Beatrice and her colleagues in months...I am talking about this case , AND THIS CASE ONLY!!! You took this case from that jackass, Lt. Tragg...and he couldn't capture a suspect if the suspect stood in front of him and confessed...Your ego is so  enlarged  that you can't stand to dismiss the case on the words of a woman.

Even though you know she's right...You know you have next to nothing...Do the right thing, drop these charges...Don't embarrass us and yourself with this loser of a case." he said.

"You work your side of the street Dellums and I'll work mine." Don't worry about my case..." said Mike Lawrence.

Todd stared at him balefully and walked away...shaking his head.

At his hotel room, which was a few blocks from our building...Dr. William Martin got a knock on his door...

''Hello William..How are you?" came the voice of his former wife, Dr. Marcy Templeton, She looked good..She was wearing a tight form fitting dress that enunciated her every curve...It was sheer and he could practicaally see through it..

"Marcy....I uh didn't expect to ever hear from you again....Come in...Come in....I uh, I'm uh doing about as well as I can do in a situation such as this.... Marcy, I didn't kill anybody, I swear and I didn't have anything to do with any drugs... I knew nothing about that....I-I-I just met the girl..." he explained.

"Shhhhhhhhhhhh I know that....I believe you....I never believed you were responsible for these crimes...You have some good attorneys...I'm certain they'll get you off....." said Marcia.

"Thank You...Thank you Marcy for believing in me...." he said, driven to tears....

"I'm no longer your wife, but I never stopped being your friend...We are .....still friends aren't we?" she asked.

"Of course.. YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!" he whispered..

And leaned in for a kiss...

"UMMMMMMMMMMMMMM you smell so good and your skin is so soft....I miss it.." he moaned.

"You couldn't have missed it that much." she said in between steamy hot kisses..

"I was stupid...I didn't realize what I had...I was so stupid.." he said...almost in tears...

"UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM I've missed this....ummmmm you're so damn big and so harrrd! OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" she cooed.

THEY MADE SWEET LOVE FOR THE NEXT NINE TO TEN HOURS!!

Marcy slept on top of her ex-husband...

"That was good William....I'd love to do this again sometime....No time soon, but sometime......We are still friends....No matter what. This is not just a one off. Not a one off.." she whispered.. Her left leg still shaking.....

"I know...You're not that kind of girl... Friends...No Matter what." he said as they both drifted off.

It was Thursday Night...and we were in Curleys for couples night.. Tonight, there was plenty of food to go with our drinks.

We were celebrating recent victories in the Voter Fraud Cases.... 

States Attorney Tanya Mosely's Caterer awarded us three sandwich platters with all kinds of meats and cheeses and hard rolls and mustard and mayo for sandwiches and sodas and condiments. Pasta salad and Cole Slaw She was not present.

We bought Beers and Martinis as usual..

.which kept Curley extremely happy..

"It was sooo nice of Tanya to do this for all of us.." said Jazzy....
 

"She gets my vote.." laughed her husband, Dabnis...munching on a sandwich...

"Our friends did a good job...I'm proud of them." said Kayla.

"I am too!  We've got to grab a big case.....Jessica, come to us next." joked her husband, Ray.

Jessica laughed... "I'm just glad they're over and we won...." she said.

Her husband,  Chip had one arm around her waist and a sandwich in his mouth, mayonaise all over his lips..  "We done well" he said.

''We all done well." said Karen Page whose Wrongful Conviction/Conviction Integrity attorneys had taken part with the Innocence Project in overturning the cases...

"I'm already planning a special report about this sprawling case...I'm going to be interviewing all of you." said Karen's husband, TV Talk Show Host,Podcaster and fellow Attorney B.L. Benz..

"WOWWWW MOM WOULD BE PROUD!" laughed Natalie..

Her husband, David Charles, who also took part in the case laughed and quaffed down a beer..

Brooke drank a Coke and munched on a sandwich...

"This is sooo good." she said.

"I am so glad I was able to get all of you guys together on that case....And Olivia and Beverly too..So glad we won." said her husband Federal Public Defender, Sean Marks, who had put together the entire team of the Innocence Project/ Wrongful Conviction/Conviction Integrity, which featured his wife and outside attorneys, Olivia Bennett Alexander, Beverly West East and company... It was a big sprawling case and they had helped him overturn the convictions and win acquittals...

"Gee I'm proud to know you guys."laughed Zoey...

"Next time you guys get a landmark case like this...I want in." said her husband, Lem.

"Me too!" said Renee.

"Ditto that" laughed her husband, Tyrell.
 

"We would have loved to have had you two on this case." laughed Olivia.

 

"Yeah 19 cases and 13 lawyers and me, the sole investigator.. It did get hard."laughed Donnie Ray, remembering how they worked around the clock for days , all filling up their conference room and their law library and media room...

"Today Lt. Tragg will be right..We are eating and drinking off of the Government dime."laughed Beverly..

"Don't bring him up...He'll be in here soon enough."laughed Nelson...

"I'm glad those cases are over and we are allowed to relax a little bit." said Josie.

"Just a little while." laughed Paris.

"Ummmmmmm this meat is so good and the cheese....ummmmmmmmmmmmm."said Bresha.

"It was sooo nice of Tanya to do this for all of us.." said Tony....

"Ummmm Yes....These meats are exquisite." said Alfreda, sampling a sandwich....

"You guys should take on a case like this every week." joked Rockland. 

 "Our trial begins Monday....We are ready!" sighed Yvette.

"You look so weary baby...Relax, enjoy a sandwich..." said her husband, Gary..

Keith and Bee Bee were making each other sandwiches and quaffing cokes and beers...

So was Sofia and Kahlil... Oblivious to the conversations around them...

"I'm going back to that hospital and the crime scene tomorrow." said Jade to her husband, Danny.

"Just be careful babe!" said her husband, Lt. Danny Ho..He knew Lt. Tragg was looking for a reason to try and pull her license.

"This has been quite a week for us." said Ms. Virginia.. She and her husband were busy making sandwiches and quaffing beers...

"Lawyers life baby...You know what it is.." said Jetty.

Naturally Lt. Tragg walked in and saw all of us.. All of the food and all of the drinks...

"WHOA HOOOO LOOK AT THIS! LOOK AT THIS...ALL YOU HIGH FALLUTIN LAWYERS EATIN OFF THE PUBLIC DIME EH?" he snarled.

"TONIGHT YOU'RE RIGHT!! THIS FOOD IS COURTESY OF THE STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA!" laughed Beverly...

"But we won't be driving, considering all this drinking we are doing." said Bee Bee.

"That would be against the law!" said Sofia.

"Yall so crazy.....I love it!" said Renee.

Bee Bee, Sofia and Renee all laughed and held up sandwiches and glasses of beer.

This infuriated him...He wasn't sure if they were pulling his chain or not....but one thing was for sure...Everybody was laughing, talking, eating and drinking and paying him no mind whatsoever......

He couldn't stand and stare balefully at us either..

Curley stared daggers at him....He wasn't for any foolishness tonight..

Lt. Tragg contritely headed for the bar...All he could do was stare at us from afar and sulk.

At 2:00 AM..We all boarded the buses and pulled off....We had left no food behind...We ate it all and drank all of the alcohol and soda... leaving only a little cole slaw behind...

IV-

DAYBREAK!

William woke up only to see Marcy strapping her bra back on..

and slipping her panties on...

"Marcy, where are you going?" he asked..

"I'm goin home darlin....I've got to work today...." she said smiling...

"You meant what you said about this, about us not being a One Off About us being friends..." he asked..

"I meant it....I didn't mean we were going to be a couple again....I just meant that uh occassionally we can uh still have a night like last night...I found it very pleasurable..." said Marcy....

"So did I." he said..

"I know you did...." she said..

They kissed passionately.....

"UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM...good luck in your trial...I'll see you." she said as she left his hotel room..

A Few Blocks away, the Bridge Building...A FEW HOURS LATER!

Nobody was eating breakfast....

We all were seated, drinking coffee...

Some of us had orange juice...

''All that food last night and all that drinking...Who want's to eat?"laughed Jazzy.. "I'm gonna cut my crew loose after lunchtime." said Jazzy.
 

"Yeah, I'm cuttin my guys loose too!  It's Friday after all and it's a slow week."laughed Dabnis.

"I'm gonna utilize that Gym and the spa upstairs.." said Kayla.

"Yeah, I am too!"said her husband, Ray, who used it every Friday, unless he was in court or a litigation.

"I should have brought gym clothes today like Kayla and Jazzy..." said Jessica.

"Yes Lawwd...So I could watch you." said her husband, Chip..

"Aye Mios Dios...All you think about is sex!" she laughed,playfully swatting him...

"You guys can go home after lunch." said Karen..

"Oh Thank you boss lady...I can catch up on some sleep...IF MY HUSBAND WILL LET ME!" she said ,looking at David and laughing.

"I'll let you....I'm tired myself." said David.

"I'll bet you are....I know I'm tired." said Brooke.

"Yeah I'm tired too!" sighed her husband, Sean..

"I'm glad we are getting off early today...We can catch up where we left off  eh?" said Zoey, softly rubbing her husband's crotch beneath the table..

"Awwwwwwwwwwww LAWWWWWD!" moaned Lem... The two of them had been having marathon sex every night and early every morning lately...

So had Renee and Tyrell, the newlyweds...

"Ummmmmmmmmmmm are you going to let me catch up on my sleep honey bun?" asked Renee.

"I'll try..." laughed Tyrell....

"Mannnn I hope Liv cuts Josie and Bree loose today." said Paris, who didn't have any classes.

"Yeah I hope so too!" said Paris.

 

 "We are ready for trial.. You all can go home after lunch." said Ms. Yvette, in the spirit of everyone else.

"Thanks Boss Lady." I said.

"I guess we caan uh pick up where we left off  Hot stuff." said Bee Bee slyly, rubbing my leg...

''We certainly can." I said slyly....

"Ummmmmmm Bed springs will be squeaking this afternoon.."said Sofia..

"Ours will, I know that mamasita." said Kahlil to her, hugging her.

"I'm going to recheck that crime scene and do a little dogging around that hospital."said Jade.

"Okay, but be careful.." said Ms. Yvette.

"I guess I'll catch up on some sleep.." said Ms. Virginia.

"Ummmmmmmmmmm wear something sexy for me..I'll be home a little early my damn self."said Jetty.

"I could wear a potato sack and you'd find that sexy." said Virginia...

Ms. Yvette smiled....
