He looked at the files on us on his laptop and smiled ruefully.

"They're all Ivy Leaguers....All from Penn Law...I'm betting Yvette Jones-Lockwood handpicked the four of them from her alma-mater...They've been with her a few years now...And when she made partner...She naturally took them along...

"And their investigator, Former Tokyo P,.D. A Homicide Detective with a spotless record....They helped her gain her American Citizenship.... She's a looker.. Quite an interesting crew... They're very good..They prepare well. I'll have to be on my A game with this bunch." he reasoned.

A few blocks away at our building...

and in our conference room we sat with Ms. Yvette , having a meeting about our strategy.

"Alright people....This case has gone federal....doesn't mean anything...It's still a murder case...And We'll treat it like one... They can't prove our client knew anything about the drugs or the money...Our defense is that she was a young lady he knew casually and his only reason at her home was for sex. The burden of proving otherwise is on the government ." said Ms. Yvette.,

"I read the Crime Scene Report and the subsequent reports...This is a typical Lt. Tragg case..A Whole lot of nothing..All circumstantial..No proof of anything..Certainly not Murder."I said.

"Love of my life...The Feds don't really care about murder...Their angle is drugs... It's Fentanyl Baby...Lots of it, stolen from the clinic, on her and a lot of cash...We can't ignore that." said my wife, Bee Bee.

"No we can't... AUSA Michael Lawrence said she was a target..Thye had been watching her."said Sofia.

"But he never said our client was a target....Like Ms. Yvette said, the burden of proof of wrapping him up in this case is on the Feds and they haven't got any proof of any involvement by him at all." said Kahlil.

"Which goes back to what I said.....The Feds can't prove our client knew anything about the drugs or the money...Our defense is that she was a young lady he knew casually and his only reason at her home was for sex. The burden of proving otherwise is on the government ." said Ms. Yvette.,

"I did a little digging... and I found this out.." said Ms. Jade..."Last year Dr. Nadine Raymond was arrested at her last job, Bayside Methodist Hospital after she was accused of repeatedly stealing drugs from a hospital and swapping them out with saline earlier this year. According to court documents, Dr. Raymond, 35, has been charged with three felony counts of Diversion of Controlled Substance. Raymond was charged for the incidents that authorities said took place in the Bayside Pa. Medical Center from April 2022 to May 2023. A law enforcement officer said they were made aware by the Director of Pharmacy at Bayside Methodist about several syringes and vials that, during his routine inventory check, appeared to have been tampered with in the nurses’ station’s automatic dispensing cabinet.

Upon further investigation, court records show Dr. Raymond had access to these syringes and had drawn up some Hydromorphone and Fentanyl before replacing the drugs with normal saline solution and putting the tampered vials and syringes back into the cabinet. “On April 20, 2023, at 07:13 hours, (Raymond) went to the M8N_NE Pyxis and overrode a transaction. (The) affiant observed (Raymond) selecting hydromorphone and removing the substance from the vial with a syringe. (McNeilly) also selected saline and removed the substance with a syringe. (Raymond) then filled the empty hydromorphone with the saline solution. (McNeilly) was observed on video surveillance 11 times total between the dates of April 20, 2023, and May 10, 2023, adulterating hydromorphone with saline.” On April 24 and 25, and again on May 5, she’s accused of doing the same thing with the saline and a vial of Fentanyl. Court records show that on one of those days, Dr. Raymond was caught on surveillance injecting herself in the hand with a Fentanyl syringe before returning to work. The pharmacy manager of the hospital stated McNeilly was overriding their automatic drug dispensing system and accessing medicine that was not prescribed to her or her patients by a pharmacist. “The adulterated medicine, now back in circulation, then had the potential to be administered by other medical professionals to patients, unaware that the medicine had been tampered with,” the court documents stated. When confronted with the video evidence on May 15, Dr. Raymond admitted to gaining access to the drugs but said she threw them away. She was then asked why she took the medications to which she responded, “I hear voices telling me to do it.” She ultimately denied taking the drugs at work despite investigators saying that they noticed visible bruises on her arms. After the evidence was gathered, Dr. Raymond was fired immediately from Bayside Methodist Hospital. The hospital shared the following statement with TV10 News. “This employee’s conduct was unacceptable and never tolerated at Bayside Methodist. The employee was fired immediately and law enforcement was notified. We have extensive safeguards in place to protect our patients.”

Her charges were mysteriously dropped.....

People at her most recent job, Mendelson Clinic in Philadelphia were unaware of her recent legal troubles." said Ms. Jade.

"Wow ,she was deep into this..No wonder she caught the attention of the feds.."said Kahlil.

"True but she's not our client...Everybody ready for arraignment tomorrow?" asked Ms. Yvette.

"I called our Bail Bondsman." I said.

"Sofia and I contacted all 21 of his charactor witnesses."said Bee Bee.

"And Jade did background checks on them all...We are ready to go."said Sofia.

"Need Anything Else?" asked Jade.

"No! Good Work everybody...We are ready!" said Yvette,

The Federal District Court was larger and even more modern than our city court which had been upgraded a lot...

ADA Micheal Lawrence was used to winning....but recently he had been burned..

Recently , our friend, Sean Marks, a Federal Public Defender had put together a successful defense of 19 African-American defendents wrongfully convicted of a supposed voting scam... The charges were trumped up and everybody could see it...These people were sentenced to 3-5 years in Federal Prison.... They shouldn't have served 3-5 hours in lock up...

Thanks to him and the team he put together.,...They got new evidence they needed to prove their innocence..and not only order new trials for them, but to get all 19 acquitted.

It was a big victory for the team which consisted of

and to sweeten the deal, our friends, Olivia Bennett-Alexander, her husband, Investigator, Donnie Ray Alexander, her niece and partners,Attorneys , Beverly West-East, her husband, Nelson East, Josie Boyd and Bresha Billips.

These 11 Attorneys and Investigator overturned 19 convictions and won 19 acquittals in retrial. It was a big case that drew nationwide attention and his first losses as a Federal Prosecutor.. He was not happy! Not Happy at all..

Then to make matters worse..

He attached himself to a local case of Lincoln Lewis...a Black area businessman who he tried for Fraud, Wire Fraud,Identity Theft, felonious Assault and Extortion..

Olivia and Beverly and crew got him acquitted on all of these charges , once again handing Mitchell Lawrence a defeat in court...and later defended the same man on Murder charges and got him acquitted..

Last year had not been Micheal Lawrences's year...So now this year....He desperately wanted to be a winner...

He looked over at Dr. William Martin , his present target on trial for First Degree Murder and Drug Conspiracy charges, standing with us...and knew he had to win this case...or any hopes he had in advancing in his career, like running for States Attorney or any political office was sunk.

He was glad William Martin was white...He was getting a reputation of going after Black defendents...

"Look at him Yvette....He's out of his mind.. Lt. Tragg arrested me on the most superficial, circumstantial evidence....I'm not a lawyer and I can see that." said Dr. Martin.

"You're absolutely correct and we are going to use that to get you freed." said Ms. Yvette.,.

''Personally, we have a good argument for complete dismissal." I said.

"That's not out of the realm of possibility is it Ms. Yvette?" asked Bee Bee.

''Well Bee Bee....We can try...but looking at this guy...He's anxious to put on a show...to make a statement, I don't see him going for that..but surely we can try."said Ms. Yvette.

"I see where you're coming from...Prior to last year he had never lost in court and then he lost those 19 voter fraud cases and then Olivia and Beverly beat him twice with the Lincoln Lewis case."said Sofia.

"Yeah...right about now...He's got to be sweating bullets in front of his bosses, especially when his performance evaluation comes up." said Kahlil.

Jade smiled. 'Ego...it's so unsexy in a man." she said.

Our friend and Brooke's husband, Sean Marks, Federal Public defender came in and sat in the visitor's section and folded his arms...he had a snarky smile on his face..

This unnerved Micheal Lawrence to no end.

The Judge walked in and sat down...Yvette immediately reacted...

"Oh My God! That's Judge Juanita Tilman." she said.

"You know everybody Ms. Yvette." I said Smiling.

''She lectured Olivia, Karen and I in law school...She's been on the bench a long time..I didn't know she was on the Federal bench.." said Yvette.

''When we've been in this law game as long as you have, we'll know all of the judges like you do." said Bee Bee.

''Right...but you guys have been in this game a few years....You're going to start seeing your former classmates and teachers popping up...If you haven't already." said Ms. Yvette putting her arms around Bee Bee and Sofia and hugging them. They were like the little sisters she never had..

"We've already seen a few people from our past in court...Not on the Judges Bench." said Sofia.

The Arraignment began....

AUSA Michael Lawrence argued with flimsy evidence that our client, William Martin in addition to committing first degree murder was also a major figure in a drug smuggling ring...

Ms. Yvette and I argued that there wasn't a scrap of proof of any of these charges...That our client was a surgeon , a well known scion of the community with no criminal record whatsoever...and should be given a reasonable bail...

Sofia, Bee Bee and Kahlil presented seven charactor witnesses a piece....

AUSA Mike Lawrence was prepared for them with questions as we thought he would be...We had had time and prepped them very well...They held up under his scrutiny.....

Judge Tillman placed his bail at $25,000.00.

Dr. William Martin had the ten percent downpayment...

Our Bail Bondsman fronted the cash to the court....

"Thank you....Thank you very much." said Dr. Martin, who was sweating..

"You're welcome...Come back and have lunch with us...We have much to talk about..." said Ms. Yvette

"Yeah ,let's get out of here." I said.

"Right this way." said Bee Bee.

''Did you see the menu for today?" said Sofia.

"No let me get my phone and pull it up." said Kahlil.

Ms. Jade smiled. "The Wonder of Modern Science." she said.

Federal Public Defender Sean Marks walked with us...

''You guys were great in there today....but be careful...You've got a bullseye on your backs.. Mike

Lawrence is like that... Get your office swept...He'll try to bug it...Try to tap your phones...Anything he can do legally or quasi legally to get a leg up... He did it to us during that Voter Fraud trial...and no doubt he tried to do it to Liv and Bev...." he said.

"Thanks for the heads up." said Ms. Yvette.

"He hates me.... because of Brooke....

They used to be a thing...She broke up with him....He never got over it and seeing me with her made him equally vengeful....He's tried to sabotage my career ever since...

It was the same with Lincoln Lewis..

He was dating a young Black Assistant U.S. Attorney ,Gail Reddick who left him for Lincoln Lewis..He was her supervisor.. He made that girl's life a living hell..Write ups for every little thing..bad performance evaluations... I'd often see her in tears....She finally resigned...She's with Lincoln Lewis now... That's why he went after him so hard.. I jumped for joy when Olivia and beverly got him acquitted in both trials and I want you guys to beat him with this one.." said Sean.

Ms. Yvette smiled.

"This is personal for you?" she asked.

"Very...I want you to crush him...That will send him off the deep end and out of this office...everybody hates him...any help I can give you....Inside information whatever...You just let me know."said Sean.

"Always good to have a friend on the inside."laughed Ms. Jade.

Michael Lawrence watched them all as they exited the courtroom....He got a strange sinking feeling in his stomach.

We went back to our building...

And to our cafeteria where all of our friends, neighbors and colleagues were.

""Ummm everything is delicious today as usual... Here comes Vettie and the guys."said Jazzy.

''Looks like they got their client out of jail..and considering it was a federal beef that is extra good." said her husband, Dabnis..

''Hey Vettie, guys..grab some seats.." said Kayla.

"Yeah...There is plenty room here." said her husband, Ray...

"Yeah slide in." said Jessica.

'Always room for you here." said her husband, Chip.

"Thank you guys..."said Yvette,.

'Quite a place you have here..Great Cafeteria...I should say 5 star restaurant, great food." said William Martin.

''We Love it."said Jade.

"There is room for the rest of you." said Karen..

"Where is my favorite shoe shopping girls?" said Natalie..

''Right here, with husband's in tow." said Bee Bee.

''Hey Natalie, Brookie,David."I said.

"Hopefully we'll have time to do some more shoe shopping soon."said Sofia.

''We aren't crowding you out are we David?" asked Kahlil..

"No Sirrr... squeeze on in, the more the merrier."said David.

"So You saw Yvette and them in court today huh?"laughed Brooke.

"They made mince meat out of your ex!" said Sean...

"Sounds like you enjoyed that a little too much ."laughed Zoey.

Her husband Lem laughed.... "I certainly understand...I know Mike Lawrence...He's an A one prick!" said Lem.

"Ouuu tell us how you really feel!"laughed Renee...

Her husband Tyrell laughed.

"No lie there....I recall the extra methods he went to ,to intimidate and hinder Olivia and Beverly when they were facing him..."said Paris, whose wife, Josie was part of the legal team.

"Just extra petty...." agreed Tony, whose wife, Bresha was part of the legal team.

Upstairs in our conference room, Ms. Virginia and her husband, Jetty were missing lunch....They were busy kissing passionately...

"Okay.....Okay....that's enough...They will certainly be up here in a few minutes.."said Ms. Virginia..

"UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM I NEVER GET ENOUGH!" he said, continuing to kiss her..

"I knowww, but you have to settle for this much right now... Get back to work...Don't you have work to do?" she laughed..

After a few more minutes.. Virginia pried herself loose from him....

"Ummmmmm go on now....I've got to straighten myself up.." she said..

"Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, okay....I'll see you at dinner." said Jetty , as he slipped out and slipped down the back steps... His trousers were sticking out like a circus tent..

And her lipstick smudges were on his lapel and his cheeks....

Ms. Virginia went in the ladies room and fixed her hair and reapplied lipstick and make up...

THIRTY MINUTES LATER-

We were all in our conference room.

"Now you are sure you've told us everything...Everything about your relationship with this woman...because if they find out anything ...It can be used against you." said Ms. Yvette.

"I've told you the truth....I met her just two weeks ago...at the clinic...I knew nothing of her past arrests or that business in Bayside...She never mentioned Fentanyl or any other opiate to me.. I knew nothing about vials missing from the hospital or any DEA probe...Nothing...We met for drinks, We talked..I went back to her home..We had consensual sex and I showered and left....She was up and alive, brewing coffee...I swear...that's all I know..All I know." said Dr. William Martin.

"Alright." said Ms. Yvette... She wrote down the address of a hotel... "I want you to check yourself into this hotel, under your real name and address and park your car in their indoor parking lot..." said Ms. Yvette.

"Give me your car keys...I'll get your car and drive it there for you and give you your keys...Keep a low profile." I said.

Bee Bee passed him a Portal...

''We will communicate with you by Portal...They can't tap into this...We'll give you updates on the progress of your case...There won't be more than two days lag time...between now and trial." she said.

"Oh My...How High tech." he laughed...

Sofia passed him a phone...

"You will communicate with us through this...A burner phone...So write this number down...don't call our business phone or our personal phones...just contact us through this number..and change the sim every other day." said Sofia.

"How careful are you guys." laughed Dr. Martin.

"That's why we win cases..." said Kahlil.

Ms. Jade spotted a micro listening device....She cautioned us to be quiet...

She removed it and smashed it with her heel.

''See what we mean?" said Yvette.

And at a room in the Federal building.

"We lost audio contact in their conference room...They must have discovered the bug....Apparently they are using other means to communicate...Nothing is coming up on their business phones or personal phones..and I mean nothing.. My guess is he's got a burner phone, which can't be traced and or they're using a Portal...but they weren't even discussing his case in the office.." said Mike Lawrence's investigator.

"DAMNIT! THEY PREPARE FOR EVERYTHING!!!" snarled ADA Mike Lawrence..

CURLEY's BAR-

It wasn't a Thursday Night...It was a Wednesday Night.and it was a date night for Gary and Ms. Yvette, who were the only members of our crew here tonight..

"This is so nice Gary, a candlelight dinner for two...We haven't done this in a long time." said Ms. Yvette.

"I know...We should do it more...Just the two of us.." laughed Gary..

A Fat New York Strip Steak arrived for Gary

And A lobster arrived for Ms. Yvette...

"You know Vettie...I chased you for a long time...Three years, almost four and you barely gave me the time of day...and then one night, I got lucky...."laughed Gary..

"You got REAL lucky."laughed Yvette...

"You thought and even I thought all I was after was sex......but after the sex....I began to know you...to see how much you cared about people...about your work about everything and I fell in love with you...You were some kind of angel....a sexy angel..." said Gary...

"I'm not going to talk about my case tonight." said Yvette.

"Come on Artie, give us a break huh?" pleaded Gary as their food arrived and they began to eat...

Because of his presence....They didn't order any drinks...Just Coffee and Tea afterwords..

"ARTIE!!! GET AWAY FROM THEIR TABLE!" barked Curley....

Lt. Tragg had been on the Marine Boat for 30 days and out of Curley's bar for that time and an additional week... Curley was just allowing him to come back in...He didn't want any trouble and there was none.. Arthur Tragg towed the line and left their table.

Nightfall

Ms. Yvette and Gary went home..

"I really could have used a drink tonight...but it's just as well.."said Gary...

"I know...Next date night..We'll go someplace else." said Yvette. "Now come here...give your little angel some sugar." said Yvette.
