Felonious Arrest

 PRELUDE: Saturday Morning-Philadelphia PA.

SAM MOTHER'S DINER-

Private Investigator, Milton Lewis was sitting in Sam Mother's Diner eating his breakfast....

New York Strip Steak and two Fried Eggs and Hash Browns....

with a nice steaming cup of coffee....

He looked up and he saw Lt. Arthur Tragg of Homicide staring balefully down at him... 

"You're eatin pretty good there Milt....You must be making pretty good money lately....huh?  You worked on that case with those lawyers from Wrongful Conviction...The Michael Rennie case and I hear you catch leftovers for Donnie Ray , Olivia and Beverly....You know I thought you had retired." said Lt. Tragg.

"No Offense Artie...But it's Saturday and I'm trying to enjoy my breakfast...I don't feel like the third degree this morning...and I prefer to eat alone...if you don't mind." said Milt Lewis, who all of a sudden was sorry he didn't get his food to go."

But Lt. Tragg stood there... "You know you used to be a good cop...well somewhat good according to my dad....you used to know what side your bread was buttered on...Now you're an old busted down P.I., who is a shill for any lawyer that will pay you..." said Lt. Tragg.

Milt Lewis continued eating his food and drinking his coffee...He looked up..

"See Artie...people ask you nicely to leave them alone and you don't take the hint...That's just why Joe Bishop's kid wiped the floor up with you in Curley's a few weeks ago...I heard all about it...Heard you wound up in jail for the night...Heard the swelling in your face just went down...You need to lighten up."said Milt.

"Wait a minute...you KNOW THIS GUY??" asked Lt. Tragg, sitting down..

"I don't know him...but I know his dad...You probably heard of his dad...Joe Bishop, a local guy..Light Heavyweight Boxer , was pretty damn good..Me, your dad and your uncle used to watch him fight...probably the only thing I had in common with those two...We liked the fights...He was damn good...Almost won the championship, but he got knocked out... He had a son...His son was pretty good with his hands too..A Golden Gloves champ...But Joe didn't want his son being a boxer...He was into education...He got him through school after his mother died and got him through college and law school with his ring earnings....He's a lawyer now...His name is Joseph Bishop Jr. real smart guy...Probably still good with his hands...I guess you know that...the way I heard he pasted you.."said Milton, who was now finished his meal and his coffee... 

"See ya Artie." said Milt as he got up ,went to the counter...paid his bill and promptly left, glad to be away from Arthur Tragg, a miserable man...

Now he had a name...a full name...He went back to his office and looked this guy up-

"We'll take games, Music and Food..."said Bresha..

"You're quite welcome...It's what we do.."said Brooke, now after this...I'm going home, take a nice warm bath, then take a nap ,then go to Boss Lady's house for dinner tonight." she said.

''Yeah...Me too!"said Sean....

"Tonight is a nice night for a date night." said Zoey to her husband, Lem.

''Dinner and a movie...How bout that?" said Lem.

"I think we are gonna just cuddle up and watch a movie at home, huh husband?" asked Renee.

On the other side of the bar,Attorney Alvin Davis, State Attorney Tanya Mosley's right hand man and our friend,sat and had breakfast with his boyfriend, Attorney Charles St. Patrick.

"I love this place Charles...We should come here more often."said Alvin.

"You're absolutely right....Judging by the clientele...This is the place to be." said Charles looking around at all of us...

Attorney Cheryl Williams and her friend, Austin walked in just then...They waved at all of us...before getting plates, filling their plates with food and taking seats...

"They've got a packed house today.."said Cheryl..

"I thought this was a hipster bar....I didn't know any black people came in here." said Austin, smiling..

Joey and Tanya Mosley walked in...They waved at everybody..Grabbed plates and filled them with food and took a seat in the corner..

''What's up Homeslice?" he said to his friend, Austin..

"Hi everybody.." said Tanya , waving and taking a seat.....

Saturday at Super Brunch....A time of good food and fellowship, and peace.

A Peace that was soon going to be disturbed...For at the apartment complex of Joseph Bishop...

''He's not home Lieutenant....Neighbors say they haven't seen him since Thursday afternoon..."said Detective Sgt Brice..

He was there with a fully armed tactical unit.. More firepower and manpower than was needed..

''That means he can only be one other place.. States Attorney Tanya Mosley's home.." said Lt. Tragg.

"Lieutenant, you're going to go to the States Attorney's house and arrest someone....??" asked Sgt. Brice.

"Let's go Sergeant!" said Lt. Tragg.

At States Attorney Tanya Mosley's house....A car was just driving up...

"I have so enjoyed the past week with you...The Day Party, The night at Josie's with you, Brunch..." gushed Tanya Mosley...

"The Mind Blowing Sex" said Joseph...

Outside his car was several armed policemen.......

Joey got out of his car and was handcuffed..

"What is this about?" he asked.

"Joseph Roland Bishop...You are under arrest for the felonious assault of  Lieutenant Arthur Tragg of Homicide which occurred in Curley's Bar two weeks ago...You have the right to remain silent...Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.  You have the right to an Attorney, If you can not afford one, one will be provided for you...Do you understand these rights as I am reading them to you?" asked Detective Sgt. Brice.

"I understand a whole lot of things now!" said Joseph Bishop ....

A slew of reporters and news people just happened to be across the street ,shooting photos of the entire event..

Lt. Tragg stood to the side, snickering....

Tanya turned off the ignition and got out of the car....She was pilloried with questions..

"Ms. Mosley is this your new Boyfriend??"

"Were you at the scene when he assaulted Lt. Tragg?"

"Are you in love?"  

"Is there a date set for a wedding?"

"Are you going to visit him in prison?"

"NO COMMENT!" she said.. She headed to her house...She peered over the crowd and saw Lt. Tragg..

She knew he was behind this, although he didn't make the arrest...

SUNDAY MORNING-Josie's Bar and Grille.

A Jazz Band from out of town played at Josie's this morning for Super brunch....They were good.

Some of us went to church, some of us didn't...but we all had to eat and all of us found our way to Josie's for Super Brunch....

And of course the Saturday Morning Arrest of Joseph Bishop was the topic on everybody's lips.. 

"Can you believe it? Tanya's boyfriend was arrested yesterday, right after they left us at the NO I.D Bar for Felonious assault." said Olivia.

 

"That could cost him his law license couldn't it?" I asked.

"Yeah if convicted and at least a year in prison , at worse, three years in prison."said Beverly...

''Lt. Tragg is such a chicken shit.. Think of how many other people have lost patience with him and thrashed him....Dabnis, Ray,JettyDr. Cornbluth, Assistant U.S. Attorney Todd Dellums to name a few." said Nelson.

"He could have done this a long time ago...He's trying to make an example out of this guy."said Josie.

"This beat down was pretty bad...I heard Tragg didn't land a punch and was beaten to a pulp...The cops had to literally carry him out...Both arms of his suit jacket were torn off and it was split in the back.."said Paris.

Bresha spit her orange juice out laughing....

Her Husband Tony was laughing too!

"You know if he could go in the bar, order a drink and sit down like everyone else, none of this would have happened..He probably got in Tanya's face with some nonsense and was asked to leave the table..He refused or decided he was going to stand there and stare like he does us and he got his ass kicked.." said Alfreda.

"I heard about the incident...I heard he started it...And that whatever was said..It got pretty loud before a punch was thrown." said Rockland.

 

 "That's what I heard...That he came in...Went straight to their table and started loudly trying to trigger Tanya, that Tanya asked him calmly to leave their table and he refused, got verbally abusive...and then her boyfriend cold cocked him." said Yvette.

"That's what I heard from about 20 people who were in there that night...."said Gary.

'Seven people made statements to the cops that Lt. Tragg started the beef." said Keith Jones.

''With Tanya, the States Attorney, that makes eight."said Bee Bee.

"Poor Tanya...another boyfriend, another scandal....And she's been nothing but good...So many people trying to knock her down, draw her into a scandal." said Sofia.

"I'm just glad none of us was there that night..That's the night we were all at Tyrell and Renee's house for Game Day."said Kahlil.

"And we all were at Josie's this past Thursday...That's two weeks in a row we weren't in Curley's." said Jade.

"Thank God for that." said Danny.

"He loves to Annoy people, to trigger people...I think of the harsh and cruel things he said to me when I first got out of prison.."said Virginia..

''And I thrashed his ass good...he hasn't said anything else to you has he?" said Jetty.

"Yeah but he could be doing this same thing to you Jetty or my husband or Ray....You've all put beatdowns on him." said Jazzy.
 

"Yeah...he very well could have...but he makes you so mad you don't have any recourse but to trash him...How many times has he threatened physical violence to me before I waxed his ass good in the courthouse that day? Yvette will tell you...She saved his life."said Dabnis.

''In all of those cases, he threw the first punch...Even with you Ray, He hit you first..I also heard that Tanya's boyfriend hit him first..."said Kayla.

''So what? He deserved it...Getting up in their faces... They were there, having a drink, talking quietly and here he comes, talkin nonsense...Probably telling them that if they leave, he's going to follow them and give them a ticket for driving under the influence...Like he does us.I'd of cracked him to..Nobody wants to hear that." said Ray.

"I know...but it's a trap...and if her boyfriend hit him first...He might have an out... I'm just saying...We ignore him mostly and he gets bored and walks away and he knows we get on those buses...we don't give him an out...We've just got to protect each other and be careful." said Jessica.

"Or not go there at all anymore... Listen I love Curley;s...I like the atmosphere...I love the cheap drinks and their drink specials....But he makes it unbearable....Same thing with Sam Mother's...Great food..Nice Homey, Comfortable enviroment...but again, he makes it unbearable." said Chip.

"I never go in there by myself or with a friend...He'd invite himself over to our table and his hands were everywhere they shouldn't have been."said Karen.

''Well that's not going to happen anymore...You're married now."said B.L.

"Wow, felonious assault...A conviction could get him disbarred and three years in prison max."said Natalie.

"He's trying to make an example out of him.." said David.

"If he wins this case...That means he could trigger and annoy people with impunity and anyone who dares strike him on duty ot not would be subject to assault charges.."said Brooke.

''Even Women who slap him for being Handsy Hank?" joked Sean.

"I was in there one time and he accidentally ripped a woman's panties off..."said Zoey..

Lem laughed... "I remember that." he said...

"WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT I'd have to go to jail then because I would have slapped him senseless." said Renee.

At this moment in the "Fishbowl" the interrogation room..

Joseph Bishop Jr. sat quietly and defiantly said nothing the entire nine hours he was here...He didn't even ask to make a phone call...

"Your old man was Joey Bishop, the Light heavyweight Boxer eh?   He was pretty good...A contender at one time.. until he got knocked out by Slick Sammy Hayes...My Dad told me about that fight...He lost a pile of money on that...He bet on your dad...Now my Uncle Jack.. he bet on Slick Sammy Hayes..he won a pile of money.. heh heh heh...Your daddy spent a lot of money... Had you sent to St. Joes Prep...Woww..a prestigious private school...a stint at Temple University, PENN LAW SCHOOL...Woww, no boxing for his kid....Ugh Ugh...His kid was going to be a lawyer...a lawyer and guess what counselor...I'm about to take it all away from you....All of it...How do you like them apples?" laughed Lt. Tragg.

Joseph still said nothing, not a word....

"You think because you're banging the States Attorney that will help you?  She can't help you now..."laughed Lt. Tragg and then he looked up..

"Who the Hell are you?" he asked..

"Cheryl Williams, Attorney at Law.. I work at the  States Attorney Office...Can we have the room?" she asked.

He thought this was pretty fast...

Once the room was empty.....Joey made the shush sound to Cheryl and pointed to a listening device..

He spoke to her in French....

"How's Tanya..? Tell her I love her." he said.

''She's fine.. She sent for me...I got here as soon as I could...I'm going to get you arraigned early tomorrow morning...Then we are going to see some outside attorneys, friends..You just sit tight,okay?" said Cheryl.

He smiled and hugged her...Finally ,he spoke in English..

"Thank you baby!" he said.

"Okay...sit tight.." she said

as she grabbed her legal roller and briefcase and left..

Lt. Tragg had heard the entire conversation....but because it was in French, he hadn't understood a word.

For States Attorney ,Tanya Mosley....It was going to be just another lonely night tonight...She cried profusely....but she was angry also....

MONDAY MORNING- COURTROOM E- 8:30

In front of Judge George Tucker....It was arraignment.....

"Joseph Bishop Jr. you are charged with the felonious assault of a police officer, one Arthur Tragg the third..." said the Judge...

"Assistant District Attorney Matthew Muldoon your honor, representing the people... Mr. Bishop is accused of feloniously assaulting Homicide Lieutenant Arthur Tragg the third in an eating and drinking establishment two weeks ago...This unwarranted attack caused Lt. Tragg multiple facial injuries... This man, although an attorney is a former Golden Gloves Boxing Champion...His hands should be registered as lethal weapons....I'm asking that he be held without bail...for I see him as a temperamental danger to society." he said..

Lt. Tragg sat beside him with a sarcastic smirk on his face...

"Your Honor..Mr. Bishop ,my client is a noted Attorney of record who's record is blemish less.. He doesn't have so much as a parking ticket... He maintains he was duly provoked by Lt. Tragg, who was off duty and may have been drinking himself.. I maintain that he is not a threat to anyone and I ask that he be released with fair bail... He would like very much to fight these egregious and outrageous charges and has no plans to flee." said Cheryl Williams.

Joseph Bishop Jr. sat quietly..

"This young man has no previous criminal record and is an officer of the court. I don't feel as though he is a flight risk....There for I am releasing him  on his own recognizance. But I ask that he be on time for all of the court dates pertaining to this case." said Judge George Tucker.

"Thank you your honor...He will." said Cheryl, smiling... "Come on Joey let's go....I've got some people I want you to meet." said Cheryl.

"Cheryl, you are worth your weight in gold, thank you baby." said Joseph, kissing her on the cheek and hugging her.. He needed a good hot meal, a hot shower and a change of clothes....

"Come on...We'll stop by your place...and then we'll go meet some friends." said Cheryl.

Lt. Tragg was livid....Just like that, Joseph Bishop Jr. had been released from custody ,pending trial...

Cheryl waited for him in his stylish apartment complex...

She loved his stylish digs....It befit him..She wasn't surprised...Joey always had great tastes.

While he showered and changed into some clean clothes

''Okay...lead the way counselor." said Joseph..

He smelled great and he looked good... Cheryl sighed.. "Tanya is lucky she got him...He's fine....He could park his shoes under my bed any night." she thought and smiled wickedly..They had known each other for a few years now...Had worked together at another law firm...They had mildly flirted but had never gone any further than that...She was happy for her friend, Tanya.

They drove to our house, unknown to them that Lt. Tragg had placed a GPS tracker on her car...

We were having breakfast...

"Dig in guys, breakfast is served." said Alfreda...

Pancakes, Hash Browns, Sausage, Coffee and Orange Juice were served. 

"Ummmm I'm good and Hungry this morning."said Olivia with a smile.

 

"Me too baby." I said , hugging her...

"We burn up a lot of energy in the bed, don't we husband?" whispered Beverly to Nelson...

"Lawd knows we do.." whispered Nelson to Beverly... As they both giggled....

"This smells and looks so good." said Josie..

""Ummmmmmm yes it does." said Bresha..

Just then the doorbell rang.

Alfreda turned on our doorbell monitor..

It was Cheryl and newly released Joseph Bishop Jr.

"Ouuuuuu it's Cheryl.......I didn't know she knew where I lived...and she's got someone with her..buzz them in." said Olivia.
