VENTURES: Things Fall Apart

An Overcast Saturday Morning -10:00 AM

We stood with several of our neighbors outside of Olivia and Beverly's Office and Duplex...

Two of the Mini Buses owned by their law firm drove up...

Beverly clapped when she saw us...

"Good Morning Everybody...We are going to have Breakfast for you when you get there as well as Lunch as usual." said Olivia.

"That's Alright with us." I said.

"Hi Olivia, Hi Beverly...I love your matching outfits."said Bee Bee.

"Me too!" said Sofia.

"Good Morning everybody." said Kahlil..

We all had our laundry bags... Standing with us...Holding their laundry bags for only their second Laundry day trip was our newest friends, Sean Marks, his wife, Brooke Marks, Natalie And her husband, David Charles.

"Man , the activities this group has." said Sean ,smiling.

"I know..I've never been part of a group of friends like this."said Brooke.

"None of us have." said Natalie, smiling.

"Well I'm glad we are now!"said her husband, David.

''Let's get loaded up." said Donnie Ray as we loaded our laundry bags on the bus.

"Everytime is better than the last." I said.

"Yes... I never get tired of this." said Bee Bee, who had two bags of laundry.,...

"Looks like this was just in the nick of time for you girlfriend." said Sofia.

"Girrrrrrrrl, you just don't know...Beverly is going to have to start scheduling these laundry days a little closer together."said Bee Bee.

" I'm starving." said Kahlil. He and Sofia had a big bag of laundry...

" Hi Everyone." said Yvette.

Gary yawned as he carried both of their bags to the bus,.

"Good Morning" said Jade, yawning..and carrying a laundry bag.

''Good Morning." said Danny Ho, also carrying a laundry bag and yawning.

" Good Morning... Glad everybody came out." said Nelson..

"This is going to be the best one yet.." said Josie.

Her husband, Paris yawned also as he loaded their three bags on the bus.

"Liv and Bev out did themselves with the planning." said Bresha..

"Man I love yall, yall is mad cool." said Tony, loading his things on the bus..He had never had friends like this...So cool, so together. He loved being a part of us... He was envious when he first started dating Bresha and was introduced to her friends.

Jazzy, Jessica, Kayla, Dabnis, Ray and Chip were already on the bus..with their laundry..

"This is just in the nick of time....Me and my hubby have two laundry bags a piece." said Jazzy..

''Aye Mios dios..I can't wait...It's been a month since we did any laundry...We stayed in last night bagging everything up and getting it ready. Before we went over Bee Bee and Keith's house" said Jessica.

''I hear you girl, same here..We are busy during the week and Fridays and Saturdays , we're at the gym in the morning, Bar hopping and clubbing all night and too tired to move on Sunday..."said Kayla..

''Well We went out last night, Aqua Bar and Stoleys. but tonight, we are going to Netflix and chill after we get back from this.."said Dabnis.

"We Stayed in. We did have dinner at the Mermaid Crabhouse earlier with Liv ,Donnie Ray, Beverly and Nelson, Josie and Paris.and Bree and Tony the night before,Then we all went home. It looks like it might rain tonight.. Snuggle and Cuddle weather." said Chip.

''Kayla and I ,we were at Aqua Bar and Stoleys last night with Natalie, David, Brooke and Sean. We were in Josies for awhile too!.."said Ray.

"Josie and I saw you guys in Aqua Bar and Stoleys Last Night..We were there with Bev and Nelson..but we went home after that..We didn't go to Josies. We chillin tonight."said Paris.

''Bree and I basically Nexflixed and chilled last night and plan to do it tonight too! "said Tony...

"Heyyy everybody." said Zoey, who ran up with her husband and two bags of laundry.

"Hey Guys." said Lem, her husband.

Virginia and Jetty walked up with their two bags of laundry...

"Don't leave without us."said Jetty, smiling.

"Heyyy Virginia, Jetty..I'm so happy you could come." said Olivia, who hugged her.

"We almost overslept..." she laughed." I love you and Beverly's matching outfits." she said.

"Thank You...Donnie Ray and I and your Boss and her husband were all at The Mermaid Crab Tavern...For a light Dinner, then we all went home." said Olivia..

''Well, everybody's here...Let's go.." said Beverly..

We all piled on to the two buses and headed off...

On a 45 minute ride, halfway across the city...

To A huge tony ,ritsy titsy building that none of us looked like we belonged in...

It was modern..Ultra modern and beautiful....and empty.....We quickly commandeered it.. filling up the washing machines with our laundry...

''Beverly, I love this place...We gotta petition our neighborhood laundromat." said Bee Bee.

"Oh My God...I love it too!!! So much more space and room and so clean." said Sofia.

"We do have to petition our laudromat to modernize."said Beverly..

"I'm thinking about getting a washer and dryer for our basement." said Olivia.. "But I would still go to this..It's so much fun.

"Let's start loading up while we got this laudromat to ourselves." said Josie..

"The people that live in this building must use it during the week." said Bresha..

"Girl I love it...They probably do..." said Jazzy...

"This is great Cousin Bev."said Kayla.

''Thank you for bringing us here...You've spoiled us. I don't want to go back to our neighborhood laundromat."said Jessica.

"I've never been to it...You have to show me where it is." said Natalie, who was relatively new to the neighborhood.

"You know where the Dry Cleaning place is? It's a block up from there." said Jazzy.

"Next time we go to get our nails done, I'll show you."said Beverly...

''This is sooo nice, Thank you for inviting us. Girl, I was almost out of clean panties." said Virginia.

"Ouuuuuuu girl, you and me both!" said Yvette, giggling.

"This place is sooo huge." said Zoey..

"It is " said Jade.

"I just love this.All us girls and our husbands...washing clothes together.."said Brooke.

"I could never imagine this...I love it too! This was a great idea, finding a nice place like this and all of us as a group doing it..."said Natalie.

After their clothes were in the washing machines..They had a seperate section where they all could talk and dish....

The girls weren't the only ones who liked the place.. Us guys liked it too.. We all loaded our clothes in the washers too and sat and talked and even started a card game

that the girls eventually joined in.

There was College Basketball on the huge screens that we watched also..

"Here comes my mom with the food."said Beverly.

Everybody clapped and cheered.

A Catering Van drove up..

Rockland and Alfreda unloaded and set up everything.

They set up catered Breakfast Trays and passed everybody plates and utensils..Pancakes, Bacon , sausage, Eggs,Hash browns ,orange juice and hot coffee.. Everybody was immensely happy..

We all enjoyed a very good breakfast..while our clothes washed.

''Heyyy everybody is there a washer available.? " asked Karen Page.

We all clapped..She had said she was coming through.

"Heyyy Karen.. Yesss.. There's a washer and a dryer right here!" said Olivia, hugging her.

"Heyyy girl!" said Yvette...who also hugged her.

"Get some food...Grab a plate Ms. Karen." said Beverly.

There was a cold cut tray provided for lunch , with breads, mustard and mayo for sandwiches..

and cokes..

As our clothes were in the dryer...We all watched some college basketball games on the huge monitors with our girls and chowed down on the good sandwiches and sodas... It was a good day...Freindship, Fellowship and Good Food

When we were all done, our clothes washed and dried and bagged up..We left the laundromat as we found it..It's machines with a little more money in them than they had before we came today!

We all piled into our buses and vehicles and headed home..Nice way to spend a Saturday.

As we predicted...It began pouring down raining.... The Buses delivered us all home...

We all chose to stay inside tonight and cuddle with our significant others.. Not a bad weekend..

II-

MONDAY MORNING-

We were back on the case..

Through Portal, Yvette showed Bob Connor the report that was left on Frederick Glover's fax..

"Well I'll be damned!!!...Richard Biggs was telling the truth...He HAD prepared this proposal in time..Glover never reported that he had it... because if he had of..it would have meant that HE and he alone screwed up..I wonder if that's what he was calling me about?" said Bob Connor.

"He didn't call you Mr. Connor...The killer called you...He was already dead when you got that call sir." I said.

"Glover didn't call you at all...Whoever called you didn't realize that fax was in his machine or they didn't care." said Bee Bee.

"Shame the Union didn't see this...This is a very good and equitable proposal.." said Sofia.

"Yeah, we could have argued this for you..."said Kahlil..

''Whoever killed him, really hated him....It was overkill.. He was shot seven times and at least three of those shots were after he was already dead. Do you know anybody who didn't like Glover?" asked Jade..."Besides you?" she said.

"Believe me...The line leads out the door and down the street." said Bob Connor.

He was right , most of the male attorneys hated him...The female attorneys that had slept with him found themselves tossed aside for another hot woman, so they hated him too!

At this moment at our old building a contentious meeting is once again concluding...

Susan Davis, the Attorney representing the Labor Union spoke to Partner, Cozen...

"We are not happy with Bruce Patterson at all..

He has not worked out well with us and the proposal he has put forth is worse than any of the three you guys proposed..

We would like you guys to represent us again....but could you please put together a team that does not include those clowns you had before?" she asked.

"I've been talking to Mr. Connor, who you know is on trial for killing one of those clowns you talk about... I don't believe he is guilty of that.... but I do have some attorneys who might be more to your liking." said Mr. Cozen..

"Good, I'll give you 48 hours to put something together."said Susan Davis.

At the Sheraton...

"WHAT??? THIS IS GREAT!!! WE GOT THE CONTRACT BACK!!! LISTEN, YVETTE AND HER TEAM DISCOVERED THE FAX IN GLOVER'S CONDO....HE LIED TO US....BIGGS DID SEND IT TO HIM IN TIME...."said Bob Connor..

"If I know right, he was probably in Ericka's panties... Both of them were absent when this needed to be settled... Hey Listen....Susan Davis said she's willing to sit down, but she doesn't want to sit down with you, Ericka or Biggs from the old team..but I know some smart, ambitious attorneys who might like a turn at this...What do you think?" said Attorney Cozen...

"HAH HA....YESSSSSSSSS ! We are on the same wave length...."said Bob Connor.

And at our conference room....a little while later!

"Guys...this case just gets murkier and murkier...We have been chosen to represent our firm in these negotiations." said Ms. Yvette.

"Really? What about Mr. Connor's Defense?" I asked.

"I taught you how to walk and chew gum at the same time, didn't I? We can do this...I'm going to ask Olivia if we can borrow Josie and Bee , go downstairs and see if we can borrow Kayla and Jazzy... I'm telling you...we can do this. We've got 48 hours to prepare."said Ms. Yvette.

"Road Trip!" laughed Bee Bee.

" We've handled labor negotiations before.." said Sofia.

"Sure we have."said Kahlil.

"Jade, I won't need you for this... I want you to look into both Erin Cahill and Richard Biggs...." said Ms. Yvette.

"Way ahead of you!" said Jade.

III-

48 HOURS LATER-

We all converged on our old building... Jazzy, Kayla and Josie joined us..

"Vettie, your old building is kinda fly." said Jazzy , who had never been in our old building..

"It is...I like it.."said Kayla, who had also never been here before..

"I remember this building...I was here when we first met you guys... We helped you on a case..." said Josie.

"I remember...I picked you three because of your skill sets... Josie, you have an MBA in addition to your law degree and I understand this is your area of expertise from what Olivia has told me. Jazzy, we went up against you once in a negotiation....you're a killer..Same with you Kayla." said Ms. Yvette.

"Keith and I brought Coffee for everyone" said Sofia.

"We brought creamer and sugar." I said.

"Here we are."said Bee Bee.

"Right in here ladies...We are early..."said Kahlil.

We walked in and took our seats..

"OUUUUUU THIS IS FLYYYYYYY!" said Jazzy...

"Yeah, it was okay, but I like our building....It's newer." said Ms. Yvette.

''And it has a cafeteria." I said,. "This Building doesn't." I added.

"And it has a Gym and Shower." added Bee Bee.

"And All you guys work there with us." said Sofia.

"AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!" said Kayla..

"We are glad you guys work with us too!" said Jazzy.

"Welcome to our old digs." said Kahlil.

"It's nice...This conference room has been remodeled since the last time we all were here...That was some years ago,."said Josie.

"Well it's nice.."said Kayla.

We all took our seats..

Labor Attorney Susan Davis peered at us from the window..

"You have certainly picked a diverse team...Young too!" said Susan Davis..

"Yvette Jones-Lockwood...is another Managing Partner... A lot more mature and responsible than the late Frederick Glover...and with her, Keith Jones, Beatrice Jones, Sofia Garcia-Ahmed and Kahlil Ahmed are among our best and brightest prospects... Those other three attorneys I don't know..but if Yvette picked them to be on her team they must be good.." said Mr. Cozen..

"Okay...we are waiting on the representative from the Construction company...and we can continue."said Susan Davis.

And meanwhile halfway across town...

Attorney Ericka Cason was given a day off.. Her firm , McCluskey/Cozen/Connor and Pratt had gotten the Construction Company contract back...but it was with the agreement that Bob Connor, Richard Biggs and herself not be involved.. They had brought in a completely new team of attorneys...She was pissed.

None of this was her fault , she reasoned.

Attorney Warren Lloyd was her guest...They had talked about it during early morning drinks..

and breakfast at a tony rooftop restaurant and bar.

Now they were done talking, they were in her condo..

The kissing was getting hotter...

There was a lot of kissing....

They got the Construction Company contract back and they replaced us with a completely different team... Those guys don't even work in our building...I worked my ass off on that proposal..I should have been involved...You too! Can I come in?" asked Richard Biggs..

"Ugh Richard, I ugh have company....I'm sorry....I'll see you at work tomorrow ,Okay?" said Ericka..

From what he could see through the door, she was wearing a baby doll that came to her thighs..

and a orange and aqua colored thong....

"Bye Richard" she said , and smiled and closed her door and locked it.

Richard was heartbroken and livid at the same time..He felt betrayed..

IV-

At our building...

in our conference room..

Champaigne Bottles were popped.

and a glass was passed to everyone in the room...

"Well, Mr. Whittendale.. I am so glad we were able to come to a reasonable and equitable settlement.."said Attorney Susan Davis.

"I'm glad too..Some sharp attorneys you brought in Cozen...Very sharp and shrewd negotiators.." said Irv Whittendale, Attorney for the construction company.... We had negotiated a contract that both the Union and the Company agreed upon...It took several hours of tense negotiations, but in the end..we all walked out with a solid agreement.

Mr. Cozen was ecstatic...We had gotten the account back and we had successfully negotiated the contract..He was over the moon..

"Yvette , thank you again...The day we hired you was a great day for this firm!" he said and hugged her and kissed her on the cheek.

"Oh Myyyy!"laughed Ms. Yvette..

I smiled.

"I'm Happy for you Ms. Yvette...He's right you know." I said.

"Yes, he is.. You are special..I'm so glad you found us..."said Bee Bee.

"Yes, where would we be without you?" said Sofia..who hugged Ms. Yvette and kissed her on the cheek.

"Ohhhhhh come on...You all are going to make me cry." said Yvette.

"Don't cry Ms. Yvette, this is a celebration."said Kahlil.

We were glad we had wrapped this up in just one day.....

Mr. Cozen looked at Jazzy, Kayla and Josie..

"You young ladies were very good too! Thank you so much..I know Yvette hired you on a consultant basis, but I'm going to put an extra bonus in all three of your checks as my appreciation for the job you ladies did.." he said.

"OH THANK YOU SIR!" said Jazzy....

"THANK YOUUUUUUUUUU!" said Kayla..

"Thank you sir."said Josie.

Sometimes Things Fall Apart and then , they come together..

It was good having Kayla, Jazzy and Josie on our team to bolster our arguments... Things had fallen apart.. Our firm had lost a major client...Then we had gained them back and had delivered...Mr. Cozen and Mt. Connor now knew who they could depend on!

Josie was right...Sometimes things fall apart.. It's nice when you can put them back together.

THE NEXT DAY IN OUR CONFERENCE ROOM

"I didn't find Richard Biggs or Ericka Cason. Ericka had the day off...Her phone went to voicemail...She apparently was entertaining.. Richard Biggs was a no show too! He wasn't at work and he wasn't at home.. but I found something interesting about him..

Apparently....He was somewhat of an entertainer before he became and attorney...He did voice impressions and was a ventriloquist....He was quite the hit in Atlantic City while he was in law school. Once he passed the bar, he gave that up though..." said Jade.

"Amazing, the things people did before they became attorneys....Olivia was a model and a championship swimmer...Brooke used to do hair...."said Yvette..
