At the Law Library on their building.. Kayla and Jazzy were finishing up for the day..

She might wind up as a Managing Partner like Ms. Yvette...with her own staff..She just hoped she wouldn't have to leave this building and her husband and all of her friends.

Her husband, Dabnis snuck up behind her...

In the dining room . they saw their friends,

Yvette Jones-Lockwood...Her hero...and her staff, Keith Jones, Beatrice Evans-Jones, Sofia Garcia Ahmed and Kahlil Ahmed and Jade Le. Yvette hung in there and her firm made her a partner, moved her to a new building and gave her her own staff, which she had already anyway...

All Jazzy wanted was to make partner.. She didn't need or want a new building with a staff...She just wanted to make partner..

Yvette was her guide, who she modeled herself after.

Kayla, her best friend since law school and her husband Ray.. She had brought Kayla here..Kayla wasn't worried about making partner yet...RAy was at his firm working just as hard to make partner. Young Tony Billips, Bresha's husband...His second job and Jessica and her husband, Chip..They worked for the Innocence Project, they didn't concern themselves with making partner..

Jazzy was a very ambitious young woman, always had been...Which is why she had left the Public Defender's office, even before her mentor and idol, Olivia Bennett-Alexander

and her friend from college, and also Olivia's niece, Beverly West had left.

Beverly's husband and her one time colleague, Nelson East, were now both employed at Olivia's law firm..

Olivia was a Boss, she had her own law firm, with an Investigator, her husband, Donnie Ray

and two additional attorneys,

Josie Boyd, once an adversary , who beat her in court once, now a dear friend.

And sweet cutey pie, Bresha, Tony's wife, who lived down the street from her and Dabnis , who had just started working for Olivia and Beverly.

She loved them.

Olivia even had an office manager, Beverly's mother, Alfreda Johnson.

Olivia and Yvette were her role models, her mentors and her sheroes.. All she wanted was to be partner.. She'd be happy with that.

She leaned her head on her husband's shoulder and dozed off into a nice comfortable sleep on the train ride home with all of her friends.

They waved and said goodnight as they all walked toward their homes..

and she and Dabnis walked toward their home..

They were finally at home.

Her husband, Dabnis had been so supportive of her...She had taken her work at home the past three nights and had fallen asleep on the couch.. He had gently lifted her , taken her in the bedroom, undressed her and placed her in the bed., He hadn't bugged her for sex.. She was so grateful to him.

She had prepared for this case as much as she could, The litigation was 2 Days away....She was going to reward her husband for his loyalty..

The Judge was John Bedford.. Olivia and Beverly had tried a case in his court.. He was tough , but fair..

Opposing counsel was U.S. Attorney William "Bill" Strong, who had only lost one previous case, to her friends, Olivia and Beverly...Here he was in Philadelphia again, arguing the government's case against her client.

He didn't want to be here...Not so soon after his last case...but here he was... He had done his due dilligence on his opponent..

The Client, Margo Cunningham, was an area businesswoman accused along with her father and uncle,

Floyd and Arnell Cunningham of 6 counts Wire Fraud..

Floyd and Arnell. both pled guilty to 4 conspiracy chargew on February 4, 2021. The other 2 charges against Arnell were dismissed. On the same date, Floyd. pled guilty to a superseding information charging him with larceny, and the original indictment against him was dismissed. Floyd was sentenced to 51 months in custody, to be followed by three years of supervised release. He was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $405,790. Arnell was sentenced to three years of probation. He was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $35,832.80.

Floyd's prison sentence was suspended and he was sentenced to three years of probation. He was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $10,130. In approximately June 2020,

Floyd contacted an acquaintance in California and told him that he expected to receive a large inheritance from a recently deceased relative, which was untrue.

Arnell requested that the victim provide him and his niece, Margo and her family with financial assistance and assured him he would be repaid from her inheritance. The victim was unable to provide the entire amount of financial support requested by Arnell, so he recruited some of his friends to loan money to the California family as well. The victims were contacted by e-mail and were instructed to send money via Western Union, MoneyGram, and other wire transfer methods.

All three defendants benefitted from the scheme, according to the government.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Strong prosecuted the original cases. Floyd and Arnell were allowed to self-surrender to the U.S. Marshals Service on May 6, 2021, and immediately began their terms of probation. It had been a messy case and very hard to prove, but he had got the two main perpetrators.

Margo said she had nothing to do with the scheme and wanted her case seperated from theirs..

It was and charges against her were dropped for insufficient evidence. Which frustrated Bill Strong..

The Attorney in all three cases had been Brenda Jordan, who he had prosecuted for Jury Tampering and lost to who else?

Olivia Bennett-Alexander, Beverly West-East, Donnie Ray Alexander, Nelson East, Josie Boyd and Bresha Billips..

For their former client ,Brenda Jordan, defending these three and getting probation for the Father and Uncle and complete vindication for the daughter was a bit of revenge for Brenda for Bill Strongs brutal prosecution of her which ended in a complete acquittal and vindication. In this present case.. She had at least kept Floyd and Arnell out of jail, even though they were convicted and indicted Margo, who had all criminal charges dropped.

And thus we are here today...

Bill Strong had won the battle of voir dire, getting a 7-5 split..

Jazzy was representing Margo in a civil suit against the government..She was not indicted for any crime...but she had been arrested and her reputation had been somewhat soured in the business community, causing her to lose a substantial amount of business. She wanted a financial payment from the government for the damage done to her "reputation and her business because of overzealous prosecution."

Her Father and Uncle had already made partial restitution to their victims and were on three year probation, which was better than incarceration at any rate.

Jazzy had gone over to Olivia and Beverly's house weeks before and told them she would going up against their old adversary Bill Strong.. A cold cocky ,sarcastic , ego maniac prosecutor who didn't just want to win..He wanted to destroy opposing counsel in court , make them look foolish.

They had gone up against Bill Strong before and beat him. They had had a mock trial

They drove over to Camden and used an empty courtroom after hours...

With Both Olivia and Beverly doing a picture perfect imitation of Bill Strong and really laying into Jazzy..

And Nelson Grilling her on Voir Dire tactics...Some of which she used..

Donnie Ray, Josie, Bresha, Ms. Yvette, Sofia, Bee Bee, Keith Kahlil, Jade, Kayla, Jessica, Chip, Ray and Tony acted as the jury and gave her brutal but much needed criticism... Josie's Husband Paris and her husband, Dabnis were there as observers.

She appreciated the Mock Trials and the constructive criticism....She enjoyed the fellowship with her friends, who were more than willing to help her..

They traveled in two of Olivia's buses...

And stopped at Jake's on the way home and had..

And Had his Fantastic Hot dogs and washed them down with that awesome guava punch.

They had had these Mock Trials three times..

Yvette reminded Jazzy that we were all attorneys and that we saw things a lot differently than a jury of laymen and women would..

IV--

Today...

Jazzy was composed and prepared.. If she'd made a mistep in Voir Dire..She wasn't making anymore.. She had researched the case well, Predicates, like cases, laws...and the facts of this case..

Bill Strong had been the one caught with his pants down....He was nowhere near prepared for another battle royal..Olivia and Beverly and associates had been bad enough , but this young attorney was worse, it seemed.. Prepared and well versed... He couldn't afford to lose this case either...

He was finding Jazzy as cut throat as they came...Nothing seemed to surprise her, she was ready for everything and every bit as annoying as Brenda Jordan had been. He knew of her ties to Olivia and Beverly...If he knew right, they had coached her...She was as equally annoying as they had been.

Bresha Billips..Olivia's newest associate attorney was in court...She idolized Jazzy and patterned her courtroom demeanor after Jazzy.. She was here today watching... She had been part of the team that had handed Bill Strong his first defeat...She was enjoying this.

THREE DAYS LATER-

Judge John Bedford, who hadn't exactly been friendly towards her addressed the Jury Foreman.

"Has the jury reached a decision?"he asked.

"We have your honor, we rule in favor of the plaintiff, Margo Cunningham and we award her 10 million dollars in damages..." said the Jury forewoman.

"OHHHHHHHHHH YOU ARE A BLESSING!!! I LOVE YOU JAZZY!" said Margo Cunningham..hugging Jazzy..

Who was soo happy and so relieved she had won her case.

"You were wonderful Jazzy!"said Bresha.

"Awwww thank you baby!" said Jazzy, hugging Bresha. "Tell Olivia and Beverly and the whole gang that I said thank youuuu."said Jazzy.

U.S. Attorney Bill Strong was furious at losing another case and once again in Philadelphia..He never wanted to come here to this godforsaken city again.

Jazzy was happy! Right now, her main priority was to go home and make love to her husband...and sweat this perm out!

"How was your evaluation?"asked Jazzy to Kayla..

"They were ecstatic, but not ecstatic enough to make me partner...I'm like you, I've got a few more coins in my pocketbook and I'm still gainfully employed." sighed Jazzy, who didn't care..She was happy to be working in this building with most of her friends as well as her husband..

That night at home..

"Want to go out get some food?" asked Dabnis..

"Maybe later.....She took Dabnis into her arms..

"You still daydream about me?" she asked.

''Every damn dayyy!" said Dabnis.
