Oak Island Getaway

Oak Island is a seaside town located in the southeastern corner of North Carolina. Part of Brunswick County, the major portion of the town is on Oak Island which it shares with Caswell Beach. Founded in 1999 as the result of the consolidation of two existing towns.

Oak Island's main industry is tourism. Per the 2010 census, it had a permanent population of 6,783 which in 2019 was estimated to be 8,386. Its average summer population ranges from 30-50,000 and the town is considered to be a part of the Myrtle Beach metropolitan area.

We had already vacationed in Cancun, a few of us...and all of us had vacationed at the shore in Jersey for two weeks...

A very grateful client of Olivia and Beverly had given her the keys to two Air BNB's he owned in Oak Island.. Olivia and Beverly and their team, along with Yvette Jones and her team and Jessica Sanchez Burrows and her husband Chip 

Had successfully defended a man who had been in prison for 12 years for a murder he didn't commit. They worked together and got his sentence thrown out in a state appellate court...after three defeats and then won an accquital in a retrial..

Turns out the man's father was loaded...He was so grateful to have his son free...He paid us all handsomely and gave us the keys to his two Air BNB's on Oak Islnad..

''Anytime you guys want to take a weekend off, just head on down." he said.

His two Air BNB's were huge and right next door to each other..

Both had beautiful kitchens

and bedrooms...

In the first house, Olivia and I, Beverly and Nelson,  Josie and Paris, Bresha and Tony, Kayla and Ray and Alfreda and Rockland lived..It was a beautiful Aqua blue...

Next door, The Light Blue house ,was the rest of our entourage..

Yvette and Gary, Keith and Bee Bee , Sofia and Kahlil, Jade and Danny, Jessica and Chip  and Jazzy and Dabnis..

24 rooms and each couple had their own room....The Beds were brand new...Smart beds that didn't squeak, headboards that didn't rattle...We all liked that...

II-

There was plenty of beers...

Gary and I,Rockland and Ray manned the grills

We had steaks, sausage, burgers, corn and salmon cooking....

"Looking Good Guys, smelling good too." said a very happy and ecstatic Olivia, looking over her crowd of friends and neighbors and remembering how alone she, Beverly and Josie were when they first bought the building where we all live and work...All the houses across the street from them were empty...They were brand new...Only one was populated ,by two nice old ladies ,who often checked in to see that they were alright...Both women are deceased now and  Kayla and Ray live in their house...

Within a few years, Yvette and Gary ,Keith and Bee Bee, Sofia and Kahlil, Jade ,Jessica and Chip had all moved across the street from them and Jazzy and Dabnis had moved around the corner from them, Forming a nice tight knit family of attorneys and friends...They all socialized together a lot more than they did before...It gave her and Beverly a very warm feeling...They didn't feel so isolated anymore.

I was happy for the both of them.

"Oh My God...Everything is just so delish.." said Beverly...

"Of all the vacations we've taken together this is the best...Shame it's only a week.." said Ms. Yvette.

"I knowwwwwww!" said Sofia.

''Well today is the first day...Let's breathe it in and enjoy.."said Bee Bee.

"I'm with you Bee Bee...No court cases...No appearences...Ohhh man this is great."said Nelson.

"It's like a retreat...Good for morale."said Kahlil..

"It's certainly good for mine." said Keith Jones...

"Ms. Alfreda, you sit down...You work hard enough at the office.. We are getting you a plate , you just tell us what you want."said Bresha..

"Ohhh My...I really like you two..." laughed Alfreda..

"Yeah, just tell us what you're having." said Tony Billips...Glad to be hanging out with us.

"Jazzy girl, you me and Beverly are definitely going to hit the gym next week.."said Kayla, who was enjoying her food..

"Oh you know it...The one in our building and at home.." laughed Jazzy...The two women were really enjoying their food.

"I see why we bought so much meat....A whole week , we are going to be feasting...."laughed Dabnis.

"Aye Mios Dios...This is soooooo good." said Jessica.

''Oh My goddd..it is.." said her husband, Chip..

"I hate to bring him up...but you know by the time we go back home, Lt. Tragg will be coming off that boat." said Jade..

''All the more reason for us to be enjoying this vacay.."said Danny Ho.

We were far enough down the beach that we weren't bothering anybody...We had Alexa set up and playing Old School R& B...

Nightfall came... Couples began dancing slowly.. We had all eaten our fill and probably drank our fill..

'Watch your hands mister.."joked Olivia...

"I am watching them." I said..and we both laughed...

We kissed passionately...We were all family...we didn't care..Neither did Yvette and Gary..

This was the first night of what was going to be a week on the beachfront..

About a mile down the beachfront and unaware that all of us were even down here on Oak Island was U.S. Attorney Todd Dellums..  One of his colleagues in the U.S. Attorney's office had a time share down here and was allowing him to use it...He had taken a leave of absence from the office after losing his girlfriend, due to her seeing photos of him and ADA Cheryl Drake making love.

"I'm telling you Natasha...I will never...EVER cheat on you again....I swear... That was a total abberation...It was a spur of the moment thing...I-I was bored...I never intended to hurt you." said a very contrite U.S. Attorney Todd Dellums.

"Todd!!! Todd!! Stop begging..It's not sexy at all...I came down here with you didn't I? You're lucky I'm still speaking to you."said Natasha Smith, the young lady we had just finished defending..

''Baby please just forgive me...I swear it won't happen again..All I want is you!" pleaded Todd Dellums, who had never begged a girl before.

EIGHT TO NINE HOURS slowly drifted by....

"KNOCK IT OFF IN THERE...QUIET THE NOISE!!" came the voice from next door and more pounding on the wall...

THREE TO FOUR HOURS drifted by....

"On the Contrary...He paid us well and threw these two in extra.."said Yvette..

Todd and Natasha looked at the two Air BNB's...
