VENTURES: Sooner Or Later

It was early morning....

Kevin Collins stood in front of the Bridge Building...He was excited about working here...He had gotten up , taken a hot soapy shower, slapped on a new cologne and put on a new suit and eagerly driven to the Bridge Building...

He was here early... The Train had just pulled into the station and all of the Attorneys he would be working with got off the train and headed to the building..

''Well nice to see you here...We ran into Serendipity on the train...She lives in our area and usually drives...but today she caught the train with us." said Yvette.

"Good Morning!"said Serendipity smiling....

"If you thought Dinner was awesome last night..Wait til you have breakfast." I said.

"You'll love it."said Bee Bee.

"Good Morning..."said Sofia, smiling...

"Good Morning!" said Kahlil.

"Glad we didn't scare you away." said Jade.

"Never that!" said Kevin with a smile.

"Good Morning... Here is a building pass...I meant to give this to you yesterday..This means you can eat in this building without having to be with one of us." said Virginia.

"Welcome."said Jetty.

There was Three people in this group he hadn't seen yesterday...One person he knew, Former Assistant District Attorney, Nina Rios , the other two with her

"Good Morning." said Jazzy.

"Good Morning."said Dabnis.

"Good Morning." said Kayla.

"Good Morning" said Ray.

"Hola."said Jessica with a smile.

"Good Morning man!"said Chip.

"Hi Kevin, Serendipity."said Karen.

"Hello Kevin...Yvette told me you were going to be working with her and her people...How have you been?" said Nina...

"I've been good Nina...How have you been?" said Kevin Collins.

"I've been good.. As you know I left the District Attorney's office a few years ago... I'm a Staff Attorney at the Women's Law Center down the street..but I eat in here." said Nina. "I got married about two months ago...This is my husband, Carlos...He works at the Women's Law Center also..He's a staff Attorney. Carlos...This is Attorney Kevin Collins...We worked a case together a couple of years ago.

"Nice to meet you." said Carlos..

"This is Lee Phillips...She just passed the bar a few months ago...but she's smart as a whip and has already logged in many billable hours as a staff attorney and trial attorney. She works with me also."said Leah.

"Pleased to meet you."said Lee.

"Good Morning."said Natalie.

"Good Morning."said David.

"Good Morning "said Brooke.

"What's Up Old Friend?" said Sean.

"Good Morning."said Zoey.

"Morning."said Lem....

"You, back again?" joked Renee.. "Good Morning Kevin.." said Renee.

"Good Morning."said her husband, Tyrell.

"Good Morning." said Paris..

"What's up man?" said Tony.

We all got on the elevator and headed to our cafeteria....

''And how are you today?"Kevin asked Serendipity...

"I'm fine.." she said, She wished he had fought harder to come home with her last night...She would have let him...but it was just as well that he didn't.. Now they could get to know each other and build a real relationship...Not like whatever it was she had had with Bruce, who was still calling her by the way.

Kevin whispered in Serendipity's ear...

"I wanted to come over to your house so bad...but the time wasn't right...It is too soon...You're right...We should get to know each other better...but sooner or later I'm going to get into those panties..." he said.

"Oh No...Not me.."said Dabnis.

"Me neither."said Ray....

"Cowards."laughed Kayla.

"They know we are right."laughed Jazzy...

Lee chuckled..

"I'd be happy for her....Anybody is better than Bruce Greene..."said Karen.

Her husband, B.L. was with us this morning...Waiting for Yvette and company to enter the cafeteria.

We always walked up to our office first and unloaded before coming to the cafeteria.

"Kevin appears to be nice, well mannered, pleasent.. He's not manic or persnickety like Bruce. He'd be excellent for Dip." said Natalie.

"Well he's got all of her girlfriend's votes...That's a start, if he is in fact interested."said David.,

"I'm a lawyer and I'm not going to argue with that."laughed Lem.

"I just hope Bruce has her out of his system and will leave her alone."said Renee.

"Think so? He hasn't gotten you out of his system yet."said Tyrell.

"I'm surprised he hasn't come to this building looking for her."said Paris.

''Well it's not like she works here.."said Tony..

"Yvette, I'm so glad to see you...The other shoe has dropped... Last Night, Lt. Tragg and his men arrested my camera man, George Barry and formally charged him with the first degree murder of Jillian Dantley....I didn't find out about it until this morning when I came in ,so I rushed over here." said B.L.

"They were all over the station.."

"He seemed to take glee in making the arrest...he probably wished I'd of been there."said B.L.

"Geroge has been there all night.." said B.L.

''Alright, we'll eat breakfast and then we'll head up to our conference room and decide on a course of action.." said Ms. Yvette.

"I knew this was going to happen..."I said,.

''Anytime Lt. Tragg brings someone in for questioning two times...He's bound to charge them."said Bee Bee.

"And overlook any other possible suspect...It's a thing with him." said Sofia.

"Olivia once said that he has a playbook that she and Beverly have learned by heart and that it never fails." said Kahlil.

"They're right of course." said Jade.

"The past few months his cases have been sloppier and sloppier." said Virginia.

"How that man keeps a job is a mystery to me." said Jetty.

We assembled in our conference room.

"He snatched him last night at closing time...I had repped him the past two times he was picked up and got him released...but I believe he purposely arrested him when he knew I wasn't going to be there."said B.L.

"I watched your show on T.V. and your Podcast for awhile now and I never realized that are actually an Attorney...Wowww..."said Kevin Collins.. "Collins is the name, Kevin Collins....I'm going to be working with Yvette and company on this case." he said with a smile.

"Pleased to meet you...Yes I am an Attorney, Got my J.D. from Northwestern...Many years ago.." said B.L.

"B.L. does entertainment law and contract negotiations...For something like this...He needs Trial Attorneys, Criminal Defense Attorneys...This is where we come in."said Ms. Yvette.

"Got'cha." said Kevin Collins... Who slyly slid his hand on Serendipity's legs...he rubbed them. but stopped short of slinking them up her dress.

charactor witnesses, Addresses, Phone Numbers, Email Addresses, the works... Kevin, you'll come with me to the station."said Yvette.

"We're on it... Keith, Kahlil...I'll call an UBER."said Jade.

''We're on it!" I said.

"Lead the way Jade."said Kahlil.

''Serendipity, We are going to ride with B.L."said Bee Bee.

"I'm certain he drove here." said Sofia.

"You guys are like a well oiled machine." said Serendipity, impressed with how fast we swung into action.

"They are aren't they?" laughed Virginia.

''Well Boss Lady, it's your show."said Kevin..

"I'm calling an UBER!" said Yvette..

Meanwhile at the "Fishbowl" , the nickname the detectives gave to their interrogation room..

Lt. Tragg stared down George Barry.

He had arrested him last night and had been grilling him for the past eight hours...

George kept saying one thing...

"I didn't do it...I didn't kill her...I've told you that....I had no reason to kill her." he said.

''Sure you did...She broke off your engagement..She was with that other fellow...You were pissed."said Lt. Tragg.

"Why isn't he here?" asked George.

"That's not your concern...what is your concern is this." he said.

He tossed a nine millimeter Baretta on the table.. It was empty.....

"We found this in your trash can yesterday." he said. It's been tested...It's the murder gun."said Lt. Tragg.

"Oh Come on....You've gotta be kidding..I'm going to kill someone and then toss the murder weapon in my trash can in front of my house?? A week after he fact...Come onnnnnnnn."said George.

"George don't say anything else... I'm your attorney, Yvette Jones-Lockwood." said Yvette.

"I know who you are...from when you were on the show...B.L. sent you.."said George.

"Hi, I'm Attorney Kevin Collins....I'll be working with Ms. Yvette and her team."said Kevin.

"COLLINS! I remember you!" said Lt. Tragg... He remembered that he didn't like Kevin Collins, in the way that he didn't like Jade or Olivia's niece Beverly... They all had one thing in common, they could out talk and out think him....

"Yes, I remember you too Lieutenant."said Kevin Collins.

''What is HE doing with you Yvette? And where are your four snot nosed kids?" asked Lt. Tragg.

"They'll be around....I'll tell them you asked about them...Mr. Collins will be working with us on this case."said Yvette.

"PEEEEEEEEEE YOUUUUUUUUU! This room smells worse than it did the last time I was here...You guys need an air freshner..."said Kevin Collins..

George laughed...

"WHYYYYYYYYYYYY YOUUUUU!" snarled Lt. Tragg lunging at Kevin Collins..

"Play nice guys....Play Nice."said Yvette ,stepping in between the two...."George just sit tight...Don't talk to anyone, not cops, detectives and especially not other inmates...everybody is looking to make a deal..Say nothing...You only talk to me and my team, who you'll meet later...got it?"

"Got'cha Ms. Yvette." said George.

''Alright..We'll see you soon...Let's go Kevin." said Ms. Yvette.

"Hang tough dude!" said Kevin as he and Ms. Yvette left..

Lt. Tragg was livid as they left.

"We got everything you asked for Ms. Yvette."said Bee Bee

"15 charactor witnesses...All from the TV station." said Serendipity....

"Home Addresses, Email addresses and Phone numbers and affadavits saying they'd stand for him."said Sofia.

"Outstanding ladies." said Ms. Yvette.

"Here is The Full Autopsy Report Ms. Yvette." I said.

''And here are the Crime Scene Photos and the full crime scene report."said Kahlil.

"We got no resistance at all." said Jade.

"Lt. Tragg has found the murder weapon, a 9 millimeter Baretta in the trash can outside of George's house." said Ms. Yvette.

"An Obvious plant and if I know right ,he got an anonymous tip..... A few years ago ,I was second chair on a case he brought in...Same thing happened.. I eviscerated him on cross about his method of gathering information. He's never forgiven me...We won the case...The Judge threw it out...He was livid...The Prosecutor was a guy named Bruce Greene....He acted like a park ape..Tossed his suit jacket up in the air, kicked the table, fell on the floor and spun around like a four year old...It was a mess." said Kevin Collins.

Bee Bee and Sofia snickered....

"You know this Bruce Greene fellow?" asked Kevin Collins.

"You could say our paths have crossed a time or two ." I said.

"And we've uh witnessed the behavior you've talked about."said Kahlil.

"How about you Serendipity? Do you know him?" asked Kevin Collins.

"Yes I know him....I wish I didn't. I'll tell you about it sometime."said Serendipity.

Virginia laughed....

"Your home is beautiful! I didn't think I'd get to see it this soon.."said Attorney Kevin Collins..

"I didn't think so either..." said Serendipity.....
