Housewarming Is Where the Heart Isn't

She looked at her new house....in the middle of the Block...
 

"Oh My god, I love it!" said Serendipity ,looking at the new townhouse that she had decided to buy..

It was a block away from where her friend, Natika and her mother were staying...

"OUUUUUUUUU BABY GIRRRRL!   I LOVE IT!!" said Natika.

"OUUUUUUU BABY...It's beautiful!" said her mother, Judge Thelma Harper... "And I'm just one block away if you need me.." she said.

"Thank you Mother...and thank you Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Foxworth.." said Serendipity...

"We are so glad you like it and are purchasing it..."said Sepia.

"This property was built last year...and it just sat....We were glad to finally find a buyer." said Bonita.

"I wanted a house...I was tired of living in apartments....This is new for me, but nice all the same..

Serendipity had had all of her things shipped up here in Philadelphia from Washington D.C. , a few days before she drove up here...

In the next few days she had three Uhaul trucks bring her things to her new house from storage.

She couldn't believe all of the help she got from the husbands and boyfriends of all of her friends....

Donnie Ray, Nelson, Gary Lockwood, Paris, Tony,Keith Jones, Kahlil, Rockland, Danny Ho, Dabnis, Chip, Ray, B.L., David, Sean, Lem, Tyrell, Matthew and Carlos all came and helped her unload her furniture and artwork as well as her two bedroom sets....and set her new house up on all three floors.

Her Mother's Boyfriend and her new Boss, Deke Richards stopped by to help as well as Natika's boyfriend, Deputy District Attorney, Lester Burke, Natika's boyfriend, who she finally met..

Her two new co-workers, Lester Sams and Keith Anderson even helped out..

Her house was completely set up in a few hours...a Task she thought was going to take a week or two weeks. She was so happy and so grateful.

She repaid them with Beers and Pizzas and told them to thank their wives for allowing them to come and help.

The one person missing was Bruce Greene... He hadn't called , nor had he showed up... She and Bruce had made love three times...and although she hadn't said he was her man...She thought there was some kind of connection....She was certain this would have been a way to impress her..or show her that he cared..but there was not a word from him. It had been two weeks since she'd seen him!

This worried her about him.

The Next Week...We gave Serendipity a Housewarming party as planned. Olivia and Alfreda catered it..

They gave her a fruit display...and Cold Cuts  as well as Ice Tea and Guava Punch...

"Oh My Godd, everything is beautiful   Thank you for everything!" said Serendipity... 

"We told you we'd take care of you once you found a place..."said Olivia.

 

"Nice looking spot." said Donnie Ray.

''Dip, your house looks beautiful " gushed Beverly.

"We told you our realtor would hook you up." said Nelson.

"I love this."said Josie.

"Yeah, it's very nice."said Paris.

"You're 13 blocks away from us, but hope to see you sometimes."said Bresha.

"Oh you know you will ,in Josie's, Aqua Bar...I might even join Reverend Struthers Church!" said Serendipity..

"Your mom would like that."laughed Tony.

"This is the place to live in Philadelphia."said Rockland.

"Glad you discovered that just in time for our wedding..."joked Alfreda.

Lee laughed.....

" I do admit...I do love this area..." said Matthew.

 

 "I love it because all of my friends live up here...but it does have it's conveniences. Shopping, Transportation, Clubs, Restaurants, etc."said Yvette.

"Not to mention new housing."said Gary.

"I heard years ago there was nothing but litter filled fields and empty warehouses that constantly caught on fire."said Keith Jones.

"Then they began building new houses..condos, apartments and lofts..."said Bee Bee.

"And Businesses began to open up...Three new shopping centers, a multiplex and a train that runs into town...Made it perfect."said Sofia.

"If it wasn't for the fact that we have to work, we might never have to leave this section. We've got everything."said Kahlil.

"Most people are glad to get out of their neighborhoods to go to work."said Jade.

"Yeah with us, it's the exact opposite."said Danny Ho..

"I guess we've sold you on your choice huh Serendipity.?"said Virginia.

"YESSSS, I LOVE THIS AREA!" said Serendipity!

"Sorry I didn't make it last week when you were moving in, but I did bring this housewarming gift.."said Jetty..

He produced a vintage brand of wine..

"This is an excellent port." he said.

"Ohhhhhhhhh thank you ,Judge Dukes.." said Serendipity...

"Jetty always had good tastes."said her mother Judge Thelma Harper..

''Well don't just look at that bottle Baby Girl, Crack it open."said Deke.

Everybody laughed and cheered..

Nina helped herself to some fried chicken wings that were spread out on another table..

"These are delish." she said.

"Yes they are." agreed her new husband, Carlos.

"Olivia and Ms. Alfreda really know how to lay out a spread...I remember the one they did for my wedding shower."said Jazzy...
 

"They really do know how to put together a nice spread."said Dabnis, munching on wings...

"This is lovely."said Kayla.

"Bennett Women do it again."laughed her husband, Ray.

"This is a beautiful house..."said Jessica.

"Yes it is.."said Chip...

"I'm happy for you Serendipity." said Karen..

"THANK YOU!!!"said Serendipity..

"Your show got high ratings.The Highest in awhile..."said Karen's husband, Attorney and TV show host, B.L. Benz..

Bruce Greene arrived...He had no housewarming gift and he seemed uncomfortable around many of the attorneys he had faced off in court against...

"Uh B.L.  you uh never gave me a fair shake when you interviewed me for your show when I was running for D.A.  You ambushed me with questions about my wife's death.." said Bruce Greene.

"Is that what you think?" said B.L.

"Yes it is.."said Bruce.

No one wanted to hear about this.... People were wondering why he even brought that up.

Serendipity was embarrassed by him....She looked like she could've gone through the floor.

"It's okay girl...Ignore him." said Natalie.

''Wow! What a jerk...He looks like he was drinking before he came here."I said.

"I wish he would've stayed whereever he was."said Brooke.

"The Only thing worse would be if Lt. Tragg showed up."laughed Sean.

"I think even he would be an improvement over Bruce."said Zoey...

"Easy.....Easy...."said Lem,laughing....

"Serendipity and I have had sex.....We've done it all night...I had her screaming ,climbing the walls...That could've been you." "BRUCE, I WANT YOU TO LEAVE MY HOUSE!  NOW!" said Serendipity...

Serendipity was so embarrassed that he had come to her housewarming party drunk and had told her girlfriends that she had had sex with him and had thoroughly embarrassed her and some of her guests..

The tenseness in the house eased and we all enjoyed the rest of the night.

"He still calls me around the clock.. 247 times since my housewarming party and he has sent flowers to my home and my office....but I have ignored him."said Serendipity.

"Hopefully you'll meet somebody and he'll fade away." said Jessica.

"That's how it happened for Renee." said Chip.

"I just don't understand him.... Was it necessary for him to brag about having sex with you?" asked Karen.

"Or to corner me about a month old interview at a time like that?" asked B.L.

"That's just him...but part of it was, he was drunk.." said Natalie.

"I smelled liquor on him the minute he walked in the door,"said Serendipity.

"I did too!" I said.

"He is so unpleasent to be around... Imagine working with him."said Brooke.

"Lester was so embarrassed...but there was nothing he could do...They weren't at work."said Sean.

"Bruce hasn't been the same since he lost that election." said Zoey.

"Yeah I know. It's as if a part of him has died..." said Lem.

"I think a part of him was dead all along." said Renee.

"He's such a spoiled brat.... Bragging to everybody... Serendipity and I had sex all night...That could have been you..." he said.

"I found him quite amusing."laughed Matthew. 

"I'm glad you did...I found him annoying as hell...And I felt so bad for Serendipity, with him prancing around bragging about. "Serendipity and I had sex all night...That could have been you..."That was so immature." said Olivia.

 

"He's not through...She hasn't seen him...Probably because he's been in court...but when his docket is clear he'll be back." said Donnie Ray.

"He knows where you live....You might want to look into a restraining order..."said Beverly.

"I've thought about that." said Serendipity.

"An Assistant District Attorney with a restraining order on him doesn't look good at all.. The Threat of that might back Bruce off a bit." said Nelson.

"He needs some psychiatric attention." said Josie.

Her husband Paris laughed...

"I kept my distance from him at the party." said Bresha.

"That was good for him."said Tony , who clearly didn't like the man.

''Well enough about Bruce Greene...let's make ourselves some plates."said Alfreda.

 "Yeah...I'm starving." said Rockland.

"You are going to Bayside with us today aren't you?" asked Nina.

"I am....and I look forward to Roller Skating tonight."said Serendipity..

"Forget about him. Let's Eat."laughed Carlos.

"I'm way ahead of you....I look forward to working with you next week Ms. Yvette.  The New Attorney that Deke hired will be coming along too!"said Serendipity. 

 "It'll be our pleasure..."said Ms. Yvette.

"Unfortunately my assignment with Karen and her crew is over, so I'll be back in city hall."said Gary.

''Wow you worked with Karen, now you'll be working with us."said Keith Jones.

"It'll be fun....Then you'll be working with Your Mom and Deke."said Bee Bee.

"I'll enjoy eating my meals in this cafeteria and working out in your gym and spa... You guys have it great here and you're all together....We don't have a cafeteria in my building, but there are a lot of great eateries in the area...and a Gym too that I might join."said Serendipity.

"That's how it was where we used to work, except no gym..."said Sofia.

"Now we have a Cafeteria, A Gym and friends..." said Kahlil.

"Can't beat that." said Jade.

"I envy you guys." said her husband, Danny...
