COURTROOM A- 9:30 AM- The Next Day....

Olivia and Beverly were there with our two clients , Detectives Dennis Ellis and Kelly Garrett, arrested for "Suspicion of Murder "and  now formally charged with murdering Janice Ellis, Dennis's estranged wife who was now missing for eight weeks. Josie,Nelson, Bresha and I were all there... Of the Prosecution "Dream Team" Jake "Lawyer Bae " Patais was missing and so was Jill Jones..

"We're here on time and we were out drinking last night." said Olivia, who was a little irritated at the two being tardy. She was ready to get started.

"They'll be here."said Beverly.

"Or they'll call the whole thing off right?" Dennis joked.

"In your dreams ." said Kelly....

Josie put her arms around Kelly and smiled.

"They'll be here." she assured her.

"Yeah and when they get here they might get a tongue lashing from the judge." said Nelson. He like Olivia was a bit perturbed they were late.

"We were out drinking last night and yet we are here on time." said Bresha.

Olivia had set her alarm clock and had woke up and called Beverly and Nelson, Josie and Bresha and made sure they were up and headed for the shower...

She bought hot steaming tumblers of coffee for all of us when we got to the courthouse at 8:30 AM...

I noticed that the Judge, Elise Cummings ,our friend was on time...

And so was ADA Lynne Hewitt, who like us had been out drinking last night.

She wasn't hung over either and she looked around for her two comrades...

"Lawyer Bae" Jake Patais came running in... His suit was wrinkled.. He looked harried.

"Sorry I'm late your honor.." he said...He looked around for Jill....

She came in 15 minutes later....

"Sorry I'm late Your Honor...I uh must have over slept." she said..

The way they looked at each other.... Beverly looked at Olivia..

"Hibbity Bibbity?" said Beverly...

"Oh definitely niecey poo!.... Diane is out of town at some conference... and you know what they say...When the cats away...The Mouse will play."said Olivia.

"Lt. Tragg is out on the boat.....Wowwwww...It 's perfect."said Nelson.

"Ouuuuuuuuuu you guys are badddd...I like yall though." said Kelly..

Dennis looked at them all and laughed..

''Counselors I like to start my arraignments on time.. In the future ,please be on time....I hope you're ready for trial."said Judge Cummings.

"Uh...Uh ruh...We are your honor.. We believe that Detectives Dennis Ellis and Kelly Garrett are responsible for the disappearance of his wife, Janice Ellis.. She had moved out and was living in a rental house in another part of time...We have several recent phone calls made between the two in the days leading up to her disappearence.. We believe Detective Ellis and Detective Garrett conspired to murder Mrs. Ellis so that they could be together."said ADA Patais.  "We believe they both should be held without bail because they represent a clear and present danger to society at large." he said.

"Your honor ,I am not going to argue the facts or lack of facts related to this case.. I am going to say that both of these people Dennis Ellis and Kelly Garrett are decorated police officers, Detectives with sterling records and have no prior offenses...They do not represent a threat either current or future to society and have ties to the community...They are not flight risks."said Olivia.

"Both Mr. Ellis and Ms. Garrett  are looking forward to their day in court to fight these outrageous charges that aren't based on a shred of evidence not a shred..."said Beverly...

The trio of Nelson, Josie and Bresha paraded close to 90 character witnesses for both Dennis and Kelly before the court....

Neither Jill nor Lynne Hewitt had much of or any rebuttals...They had been caught slipping...The very thing, ADA Garcetti hadn't wanted...

Judge Cummings was angry at the Prosecution for coming late and equally angry that none of them seemed prepared...

"I quite agree with the defense , and having known both Detective Ellis and Detective Garrett prior to this unfortunate situation I quite agree  that neither detective is a threat to the general public or a flight risk..There for, I am releasing both of them on their own recognizance." she said,   "Court Adjourned" she said and slammed down her gavel.. She was furious at the two ADA's for coming late and unprepared...This was payback!  They hadn't wanted this...They wanted both held without bail while they tried to build up a case...This was a major setback.

IN WASHINGTON, DC-

Watching the news in Washington D.C.  ADA Garcetti was livid!  Especially when he learned that two of his ADA's came to trial late..

"Released without Bail!!!!I hadn't wanted this...I wanted them both held without bail while we tried to build up a case...This was a major setback. A Major setback and they are going to hear from me!" he screamed at the Television set in his hotel room.

"Gilllllllll come back to bed." said Assistant District Attorney Diane Baronski, who was sharing a hotel room with D.A. Garcetti, across the street from the other participants...

She mounted him and began moving up and down on him....

"OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH DIANE.....DOES JAKE REALIZE WHAT HE HAS? OUUUUU!"moaned D.A. Garcetti.

"That boy is so whipped...He probably dreamed about me last night, that's why he overslept........Yes, he knows how good this is.."said Diane Baronski.. 

Gil Garcetti was the first guy she had slept with since she started seeing Jake Patais.  Her long line of suitors included  ADA Jim "Jumpshot  Jim" Taylor, Lt. Tragg, Private Investigator, Bert Vandenberg, and two other guys.... The other female ADA's nicknamed her Diane "Hot Panties" Brokowski...A name they giggled and called her behind her back.

"Well if he doesn't, I sure as hell do...OHHHHHHHH! AWWWWWW LAWD!"moaned Gil Garcetti.

As they returned to the bed and began making sweet love the rest of the morning.

MEANWHILE BACK IN PHILADELPHIA!

"WHAT? WHAT?? JUST LIKE THAT THEY CAN GO??  THIS TRASH GUY AND HIS  HOME WRECKING BED WENCH MURDERED MY SISTER AND THEY GET TO GO??? YOU GUYS CALL YOURSELVES CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEYS...THAT'S WHAT YOU ARE...CRIMINALS YOURSELVES!" yelled an irate Jackie Johnson...

"Watch it baby, your 15 minutes of fame are almost up!"said Olivia to her.

Olivia's stern warning seemed to spook Jackie...She didn't say anymore..She turned and stormed out! She clearly didn't want to spar with my wife...She was no match verbally or intellectually. I think she knew it!

The Press was eating it up!!

''She's as bad as Lt. Tragg, worse if that's possible."said Olivia.

''She was about to get decked, that's what she was about to get."said Beverly.

''Now Now Honeybun...You're too sexy for all that...forget about her...Your auntie can handle her."said Nelson, rubbing her back..

"Let's get out of here...There's the elevator." I said.

"Yeah, that's a good idea."said Kelly.

"Right behind you."said Dennis.

"Let's go."said Josie, racing towards it.

And Bresha following.

I held the door.

We quickly rushed inside the elevator..

We went to the basement parking lot.

We piled into the SUV and pulled off.

''We arrested them and just like that....They're scott free before the ink is dry on the warrants."observed Sgt. Brice of Homicide.

"Face it kid, this is political...We got next to nothing..Not a scrap of proof of a crime even being committed..We can't find the car..We have no body or even an idea of where a body might be..Hell this broad could still be alive...Either she or somebody used her debit card yesterday in Richmond, Virginia."said Sgt. Jones.

"I know..Donnie Ray told me."said Sgt. Brice.

"Donnie Ray told you?  Wow! He is good. Olivia is lucky to have him..Come on kid..let's do some digging."said Sgt. Jones as both detectives left.

II-

We took them to the Bridge Building.

To their cafeteria.  Our friends and neighbors, most of whom we were drinking with last night were all here. Jazzy and Dabnis, Cousin Kayla and Ray, ADA Karen Page, Jessica and Chip.

"Heyyy look who has graced our cafeteria...Olivia ,Beverly and the whole gang."said Jazzy.

"They got em out on arraignment...I know they bought em here because they're safe from the press, from the cops...Well, other cops."said Dabnis.

"Yeah...I feel sorry for them sometimes."said Cousin Kayla.

''Sorry, they get high profile cases...Next to Ms. Yvette, they are the highest profile lawyers in the city if not THE highest profile..That means money honey.. They gonna do a movie about them one day.. Your cousin kinda resembles Kerry Washington od "Scandal" fame." joked Ray..

"Liv does look like Kerry Washington a little bit." laughed ADA Karen Page of the Wrongful Conviction Unit.

Tony laughed. He was glad to see his wife, Bresha.

"Hey Liv, Beverly, guys!"said Jessica.

"Hey Guys." said Chip.

Yvette and her crew, Keith and Bee Bee Jones, Kahlil and Sofia Garcia- Ahmed., Jade and Virginia were seated not too far from where we were..They knew who are clients were...Everybody did.. This case was the new talk of the town.

"I gotta hand it to Liv and them, they get the highest profile cases."said Yvette.

"We are catching up with them." said Keith Jones..

"Yes we are...but sometimes...I like to work OUT of the spotlight."said Bee Bee, waving.

"Yeah I know what you mean....This was the only safe place they could eat."said Kahlil.

"You would think with Lt. Tragg out to sea, it wouldn't be like this."said Sofia.

''Depends on the case...and this case looks particularly weak..No body, no car, no proof the woman is even dead yet...She's just missing." said Jade.

"It has been eight weeks." said Virginia.

''Most of our neighbors and friends who we associate with work in this building.."said Olivia.

''And the food is good too!"I said.

"WOW THIS BUILDING IS AWESOME!" said Kelly.

"It is.."said Dennis."

"It's our home away from home when we aren't at our Office/Duplex." said Beverly.

"I've seen your Office /Duplex on Television...On the news when Lt. Tragg arrested one of your clients right at your office."said Kelly.

"Yeah, he does that quite a lot."said Nelson , who passed her a phone.

"Kelly, we gave Dennis a phone just like this. It's a burner phone.. It can't be traced.. In your line of work you are all too familliar with these.. Write this number down and memorize it.. don't call us on our personal line or business line..use this number... I advise you to find a hotel room for a few days and one with an indoor parking lot for your car Call us when you get situated.."said Nelson.

"Kelly , this is a Portal....Dennis also has one...We will keep you abreast of your case and you won't have to run up to our office." said Josie.

Bresha and her husband, Tony were busy kissing passionately...

"Her Husband!  He's one of the attorneys who works in this building." he explained.

''Are they newlyweds?" asked Kelly.

"Can't You Tell?" asked Beverly.

Dennis laughed.

So did Olivia and I and Josie.

Both Kelly and Dennis checked into a hotel near the airport.. In the same room!  We hadn't counted on that. They used their real names..

''Dennis , we really shouldn't be together like this..We broke up remember?" said Kelly.

"No. You left me..I didn't want you to go."said Dennis.

"Dennis..it's for the better. You know I've transferred to Robbery-Homicide don't you? Or I was about to before I got arrested." she said.

'Yeah I heard...Listen...Even if my wife turns out to be alive...I'm not staying with her...I plan to get a divorce..We aren't right and that sister of hers was never going to let us live in peace."said Dennis.

"You aren't doing this because of me are you?" asked Kelly.

"No....I'm doing it because with her or without her I've been blissfully unhappy for a long time.. I'm happy with you...I mean, I was happy with you... I always have been...You're a cop like me, we understand each other.. Look at Tyriq and Sirena

 or Angie and Jimmy

 over in Criminal Investigation Division...They're cops and in the same unit.. They just aren't partners." said Dennis.

"Are you saying...Are you saying you might want to marry me when you get free?" asked Kelly.

"Yes....That's EXACTLY WHAT I'M SAYING!" said Dennis.

"I think you know I'm emotional right now and you want some." said Kelly.

"I'm not manipulative like that....I mean...I DO WANT SOME...but I'm uh not like that." said Dennis..

They began kissing passionately....

"Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm girrrrrrrrrrl" Dennis moaned.

"OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU DENNIS!" she moaned softly.. in between kisses.

He slipped her dress off of her.....She unzippered his trousers and slipped his shirt and undershirt off..

They fell up against the wall kissing...

"OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" she cooed softly...

H slipped her panties down and off... He hadn't had any sex since she had moved out three months ago and he was very excited.. She could tell.

THE NEXT DAY-

We were sprawled out in our conference room.... Olivia and Beverly spoke to Dennis Ellis through the portal, giving him an update on the particulars of his case.

He was very attentive and weighed his options intelligently...He asked very good questions, which they liked.

Likewise, Nelson, Josie and Bresha  spoke to Kelly Garrett through the portal, giving her an update on the particulars of her case. The state had even less evidence against her.

Kelly like Dennis took this serious...She too weighed all of her options and asked intelligent questions..

Which Nelson, Josie and Bresha equally were impressed by.

"They think they're slick...I know they're in the same hotel room."said Bresha.

"I peeped that too." said Josie, giggling..

''Auntay and I peeped that too." said Beverly...

"It's not a good look...but at this point does it matter?  Who knows?  "said Olivia.

"It's kinda cute...It's obvious they care for each other...I could see it in court the way they looked at each other.."said Beverly..

''Well Nobody knows where they are and that's good...Maybe we can wrap this thing up quick." said Nelson.

In our kitchen...Our office manager Alfreda and her husband, Assistant District Attorney Rockland Cambridge were kissing passionately..

"Ummmmmmmmm years ago I used to daydream about kissing you like this." he said..

"I know you did...I used to see you staring at me...It was kinda creepy."said Alfreda.

He unzippered her jeans.. 

"OUUUUUUUUUU!" he exclaimned....marveling at her lacey panties...

''Rocklanddddd....I'm at work...We can do that when we get home!" cooed Alfreda.

"I love you Alfreda."said Rockland, softly..

Alfreda's caterer arrived with stuffed sandwiches and condiments and additional cold cuts...We could make sandwiches for days.

"YESSSSS!" said Nelson.

"I know you're happy."laughed Beverly...

"Dig in guys."said Olivia.

"Where is Donnie Ray?" asked Josie.

"He's out doing what he does...Investigating." said Olivia.

"Here he comes now." said Bresha.

"You are right on time....The food is here."said Beverly.

I smiled.. I had been in the media room most of the morning.

"And I've got something that may break this case wide open." I said.

"Well before you blow the case wide open Tall dark and southern, grab some of these sandwiches.."said Alfreda.

Olivia and Rockland laughed.

IV-

We sat around our conference room, enjoying our lunch..

Roast Beef, Ham, Turkey sandwiches....

with condiments.. Mustard, Mayo...

''Nelson, the food isn't going anywhere..Stop eating so fast before you get indigestion."said Beverly, smiling.

Nelson was paying her no mind..He was enjoying three sandwiches at a time..

"Yeah Nelson, stop eating so much and so fast..,"joked Josie.

"Both of you , stop acting like his mama."said Alfreda...laughing..

Rockland just shook his head and laughed.

"I love yall."said Bresha ,who had always loved the humor, the camraderie and togetherness all of us had.

''So I know if you don't share this, you'll burst...What is it?" asked Olivia.

"Glad you asked." I said.

 "I was curious about that debit card being used in Richmond, Virginia of all places so I did some digging.. It appears the Johnson girls have Aunts and Cousins in the Richmond, Virginia area and they often spent summers down there...

This is the gas station where the debit card was used....The pumps take a photo of you when you're pumping gas when you access it. See, this is who accessed it and pumped the gas."I said.

I showed them a photo of a man pumping the gas.

"Who is he?" asked Beverly...

"His name is Angelo Barksdale.. A Local... I know that because..

Jackie Johnson has made 27 calls to his mobile phone and 16 calls to his landline in the past seven weeks... All calls that have lasted from 30-45 minutes." I said.

"Her boyfriend?" asked Josie.

"I thought that... but then her debit card was used at the same gas station today for another car and the camera picked up this photo...I blew it up...Take a look!" I said.

Olivia's eyes got as large as saucers..."OH MY GOD!" she said.

So did Beverly's..."OH MY GOD!" she said.

"I DON'T BELIEVE IT!!!!" said Bresha.

"Well I'LL BE DAMNED!" said Josie..

"HELLO!" said Nelson.

Although kind of grainy...There was Angelo Barksdale and Janice Johnson-Ellis kissing passionately in the background...while another woman was pumping gas...

"Believe it!!!!! That's her car...The license plate matches...and that's her... Janice Johnson Ellis is alive and in Richmond , Virginia..   and her sister, Jackie Johnson knew it all along." I said,.

"UMMMMMMMMMMMMM....Ummmmph, this stew sure got thick!" said Alfreda.
