Big Guns, Big Nights

 FRIDAY NIGHT-

The party began at Stoleys....and then continued at Aqua Bar...both Bars were packed..

Virginia Shaw hadn't been dancing in 8 years...but she was a quick study and learned all of the line dances and the new steps.

She partied for the first time with her new colleagues, Bee Bee, Myself, Sofia and Kahlil and her building mates, Jazzy, Dabnis, Kayla ,Ray, and her attorneys, Jessica and Chip.. She was a decade older than all of them, but you'd of never known it. The way she handled herself on the dance floor.

She got to party with Beverly, her husband, Nelson, Josie and her husband, Paris, New comer Bresha, the only one she didn't know previously and her husband, Tony ,who also workd in her building..

She really enjoyed herself..

Our last stop was  Josie's...

Equally crowded...

Tonight there was more dancing...Visiting D.J.'s were spinning..

Virginia was all danced out. She was glad to see her contemporaries ..

Olivia and her husband, Donnie Ray, who waved.. They were sitting in a corner, drinking and talking quietly.

Yvette and her husband, Gary were there too!

Kissing so passionately ,it seemed as if they might take their clothes off at any minute...

Jade and her husband, Danny Ho were in a corner,drinking and  talking quietly...

Bee Bee and me, Sofia and Kahlil, Jazzy, Ray, Kayla and Ray, Jessie and Chip. Beverly and Nelson, Josie and Paris and Bresha and Tony all were up and dancing.. 

We loved it when visiting D.J.'s were in the house spinning.

Gus, the owner and head bartender liked it too...Because people were buying drinks en masse...

Keeping Manager , Honey Brown and her staff on their toes.

She smiled, watching them dance.

as she sipped a Citris Martini.

''Damnnn girl you are wearing those pants." said Judge Jetty Dukes, who looked high.

''Are you following me?" Virginia  laughed.

"I was here before you were... I see you came in with the youngins, Where were you guys at,  Stoleys or Aqua Bar?" he asked.

"Both! I'm tired and a little drunk...Could you take me home? I don't have a car yet... I've been riding with them..They live closer to here than I do." she asked, knowing he was going to take her home and more than likely spend the night..

''Sure....I can't drink another thing...Can you drive?"he said and tossed her the keys.

"Come on." she said. He was too drunk to drive... He really was in bad shape..She was doing him a favor driving him home...Her new drivers license was days away from arriving in the mail.

We all saw her leaving with Judge Jetty Dukes. We all waved..

All of us was too tired anyway to drive any further than home..

 He drove her home and walked up to her apartment.. He was really drunk..

She pulled back the sheets of her bed.. She knew he was really drunk..She was going to sleep tonight.

She undressed...His eyes bulged out of their sockets , seeing her undress... She ignored him and got into bed..

He got under the covers with her ,with no protest from her.. It was nice not having to sleep alone after a great night tonight.

They kissed for a few minutes..  She felt his penis..It was rock hard.. he hadn't been THAT drunk , she thought. He slowly slipped her panties down and off....Smiling as they dangled on her toe...

He climbed on top of her and began humping away...The bed squeaked loudly...the headboard rattled..

II-

MONDAY MORNING!

Over the weekend we decided to work here on Monday and Wednesdays at our office

and remotely at Olivia and Beverly's on Tuesday and Thursdays. Friday was a free day, sort of.. Each of us would be at our own office working on this case and catching up on other cases.. One Saturday Only , We all met here at our office and worked until 12:00 noon. The next Saturday, we all had breakfast at Olivia and Beverly's house and worked until Noon.

We divided up the work this way..

Donnie Ray and Jade did breakdowns on the Federal Jury pool...

Olivia, Nelson, Yvette, Me, Kahlil and Alvin Davis examined the jury and had discussions on the type of juror they wanted, and the type of questions to ask during voir dire.while beginning to shape their argument..

Donnie Ray and Jade began an intensive investigation of the charges and Josie with her business training began to disect the case from a business and legal standpoint..

Last but certainly not least.

Beverly, Bee Bee, Sofia and Bresha did the research, Studying like cases, looking up predicates and actual laws and putting the case together..

Virginia watched all of the activity and heard all of the conversations avidly...How she wished she was still a practicing attorney and involved in this case.. It was a career making case.

TWO WEEKS LATER-

States Attorney Tanya Mosley called a big press conference.. 

"Good Morning. I said I was going to fight these charges aggressively in court and I have put together a team that is not only going to battle for me in court against these ergregious charges , but get to the bottom of and shed light on where they originated and take action against ....In addition to my long time attorney and friend, Alvin Davis.. I have hired Yvette Jones-Lockwood, Keith Jones, Bee Bee Evans-Jones, Sofia Garcia -Ahmed,Kahlil Ahmed, Jade Lee, Olivia Bennett-Alexander, Beverly West-East, Nelson East, Josie Boyd , Bresha Billips and Donnie Ray Alexander." she said. ''As you know these are some of the best defense attorneys ,money can buy...They're smart , they're aggressive and tenacious and they're just what I need to be vindicated and acquitted in court. I'm not playing with these people and now they'll see that I mean business. This is the work of a small minded man who can't win the election any other way than trying to smear me..." said Tanya Mosley.

She didn't call  Former D.A. Barnes by name...but she might as well have....Everybody knew who she was talking about.

She and her attorney, Alvin Davis appeared with her legal team..

 The 12 of us were making headlines quite a bit.. Yvette Jones-Lockwood, Myself ,Keith Jones, Bee Bee Evans-Jones, Sofia Garcia -Ahmed,Kahlil Ahmed, Jade Lee, Olivia Bennett-Alexander, Beverly West-East, Nelson East, Josie Boyd , Bresha Billips and Donnie Ray Alexander were always at the forefront of some major case and always in the winners circle.

This announcement was not met favorably in other quarters..

U.S. Attorney William "Bill"Strong was furious...

"OH FOR THE LOVE OF PETE...Olivia and Beverly and that gang again?  OH FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!! And now the attorneys THEY USED to defend them in that damn civil suit..WHY??? WHY?? WHY??? EVERYTIME I COME TO THIS GOD FORSAKEN CITY....I HAVE TO DEAL WITH THEM OR ONE OF THEIR DAMN CLONES? WHYYYY?" he screamed in his D.C. office,

Throwing law books at the wall in his office and kicking the desk and jumping up and down like a petulant child..

Attorney Brenda Jordan, who he unsuccessfully prosecuted for Bribery and Witness tampering , defended by Olivia and Beverly, who gave him his first defeat.. Twisted and bended him in circles in his prosecution of a family accused of Wire Fraud.. He actually convicted the Father and the Uncle, but she got them a deal in which they did no jail time , They serve five years probation and pay full restitution to their victim.. She got the daughter acquitted completely... A Manner of revenge for her on him for his aggressive prosecution of her that could have resulted in her imprisonment and disbarment if not for Olivia and Beverly.

And then the woman sued the goverment for false arrest and imprisonment.. a case that he should have won easily...Only the woman was represented by an Olivia and Beverly clone, Jasmine Coley, a former Assistant District Attorney and Public Defender , mentored by Olivia Bennett-Alexander and get this, a neighbor of hers who lives three doors away...

And Now..Now... He had to go to Philadelphia and face a courtroom with her and her team and another team of attorneys... DAMN IT!  DAMN IT DAMN IT!!! he screamed..

Former D.A. Royce Barnes was equally concerned.. he had tried to smear her before and Alvin Davis, her very capable attorney had fought them vigorously...He figured this big federal indictment would be too much for him...But she had surprised him , brought in Big Guns to defend her.. He planned to go on the offensive..

He appeared on HARD BOTTOM the very next night..

"I asked Ms. Gates a simple question about her using what she claims is her money in a 401k to finance her campaign and to travel to Cancun last summer with a male friend.. Now she has hired a slew of the best attorneys money can buy, BIG GUNS...Now ask yourself ...How is she paying for this?  These are questions, people want to know... The U.S. Government wants to know..I have nothing to do with that...I'm busy running my campaign...For fair and honest government.." said Royce Barnes.. 

"You're going to have some questions to answer mister. You don't know about me..but you 're gonna mess around and find out." said Tanya Mosley ,watching the broadcast from her loft.

CURLEY'S BAR-

"Wow...we better enjoy this while we can... Old Columbo comes off that boat in another week." said Sofia.

"I know, Imagine if he was here and we were trying to do this." said Bee Bee.

"You think he sees us?" I asked.

"He knows we're here...He has no idea what's about to go down." said Kahlil..

As our drinks arrived at our table.

Former District Attorney Royce Barnes  did indeed see the four of us sitting across the bar , drinking martinis...

"Hmmm Yvette's kids..But no Yvette.." he said.

At that moment, Beverly, Nelson, Kayla, Ray, Josie and Paris, Bresha and Tony all walked in.. They waved at us and took seats a few tables from us.

''It was nice of Virginia to do this for us..For once I may not have to run and risk tearing my pantyhose." said Beverly.

''And I don't have to risk tearing my suit jacket either with a football block..I happen to like this suit."laughed Nelson.

"You guys are crazy...Jazzy and I get Para-legals to serve our subpoenas..."laughed Kayla.

"Same Here." said Ray.

"Well Bev and I usually serve em and get runs in our pantyhose...They always see it coming and run."laughed Josie.

''This guy aint gonna run..He aint the type..Too cocky, too dignified.. Now he might get mad...but he aint a runner." said Paris.

"I sure hope you're right." said Bresha.

"Relax.. it aint even on you guys tonight.." said Tony..

Royce Barnes looked around..

"Olivia's people here, but no Olivia and no sign of Yvette., something is fishy." he said.

Virginia Shaw caught his eye...He knew her..

''Virginia Shaw....Well I'll be damned.. I never thought I'd see you again...You got paroled huh? How many years did you do?" asked Royce Barnes. She had been an Assistant District Attorney under him, when he was the D.A.

"Seven years...Seven years , Six months and 27 days to be exact...."laughed Virginia..

''Well you know what they say, you only do two days...The day you go in and the day you get out."laughed Royce Barnes.

"Ha ha...That's convict talk.."laughed Virginia.

''You still in the halfway house?  What are you doin for work now of days, since you can't practice law

anymore?" he asked.

"Oh I've got an apartment...and I'm working too.. I work at McClusky/Cozen/Connor & Pratt."said Virginia.

"McClusky/Cozen/Connor & Pratt, that's a law firm.. You're no longer an attorney...You've been disbarred.. How are you working there? " he asked.

"I work for one of the partners, Yvette Jones-Lockwood, I'm her office manager.. and one of my duties is to deliver subpoenas ,like this one I was told to deliver to you!" she said 

and dropped a subpoena in his lap..

"Nice talking to you Royce...See you around." said Virginia as she walked out of the bar.

He looked around..All he saw was tables with empty glasses and a few dollars on them.. We were all gone..

He opened up his subpoena.. He was being sued for both Libel and Slander by Tanya Mosley..

"WELL I"LL BE....WELL OF ALL THE LOWDOWN DIRTY....OUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" he screamed in anger..

And at Josie's a little while later- Olivia, Virginia and Yvette all shared a laugh about her surprising and passing a subpoena to Royce Barnes..

''Good Job, you did good..I wish I could have seen the look on Royce Barnes face when you plopped that subpoena in his lap."said Olivia

"He looked like he'd swallowed a lemon."laughed Virginia.

"God, I should have told one of the kids to film it with their phones." laughed Yvette. "Hey look,

it's Thursday Night.. Olivia and I gave our entire staff off tomorrow...That means you too..That means you're off tomorrow..enjoy yourself.. Good job." said Ms. Yvette.

"Thanks you guys...always a pleasure." laughed Virginia.

Another Big Night!

IV-

NIGHTFALL-

Virginia went to her apartment..She felt lonely.. All her co-workers lived six blocks away...They were all probably home..but they had spouses.. and they all lived next door or across the street from each others..They were together.  She was down here alone..

She made a phone call....

Judge Jetty Dukes showed up with a six pack of Corona and two joints...

She told him about her first week, the big case that involved both Yvette and Olivia's entire crews and her delivering a subpoena to old  Royce Barnes.  They laughed about that..

She and Judge Dukes actually killed the entire six pack, drinking three beers a piece and smoked two joints.. They were good and buzzed.. 

This led to a lot of kissing..

She finished her night having one of the most peaceful sleeps of her life, lying on his chest.

"OHHHH VIRGINIA!" he sighed....

Being out of prison was incredible...It was like a dream..She had a new apartment, a job...and new friends.. She might not be able to practice law anymore..but she was happier than she'd ever been when she did practice law..
