Jury Duty

 PROLOUGE- AQUA BAR-

It was any given Saturday Night in Aqua Bar,

The place was packed and the drinks were flowing...

The Pretty Little Barmaid, Della Avenue w had been the object of one man's attention all night...He had asked her what she was doing when she got off, if she would come home with her ,if she would consider dating him...

Her answer was no to all of the questions...She didn't date or go home with any of the customers...

The man ordered ten drinks....He was pretty soused..

Near the end of the night..He followed her into the restroom...

"What are you doing in here?  I'm changing my clothes, stop...STOPPPPP!!!" came her screams..

He ripped her panties completely off!

"WOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!! What are you doing? Stopppp!" she screamed..

Sometime later, The Police were on hand....

"We have a report of a sexual assault.. The victim, Della Avenue, a barmaid at the Aqua Bar...Yes..We are taking her to the nearest emergency ward for a rape kit test...She gave us a description of the man,

Black male..about six four, muscular...All she knows is his name is Daniel...He's got a goatee and short haircut....we might get him off of the camera inside of the club...We are interviewing people who were in the club now.." said a policeman..

MONDAY-TWO DAYS LATER-

"Ohhhhhh Daniellllllll?" came the voice of Della ..

The man who had rape her turned around...He smiled raffishly....

"Heyyyyyy girl...you want some more huh?" he laughed..

"Oh No...I brought something for you!" she said.

She pulled a gun out o f her pocketbook and fired Six times..Hitting him in his chest and killing him instantly...

"Well the cause of death is obvious...he was shot six times...in the chest..His name was uh Daniel Ballinger and he's got a sheet Lieutenant... He did a nickel for sexual assault...He is on the sex offenders list..." said one of the crime scene investigators..

''Well he aint now." said Lt. Tragg.

"The young lady who shot him is over there in the corner, crying....

She said he raped her Saturday Night passed." said Hazel...

"Geeez." said Lt. Tragg.. "Alright...Cuff her, read her her rights...and get this body out of here."said Lt. Tragg.

He watched as once again the body was put in a body bag on a gurney and moved out.....

II-

TUESDAY MORNING-

We were all in a Festive Mood today...

"WE ARE THE GREATEST..WE ALL WON OUR INDIVIDUAL CASES" said a Happy Beatrice "Bee Bee" Jones, My wife..

"Man, I thought My Jury was gonna deadlock, but it didn't..."I said..

"I thought mine was too, but I guess I got lucky.."said Sofia..

"Well I was never in doubt about my jury.." said Kahlil..

We had all been involved in four individual cases recently and had been victorious..We felt very festive as we filed our cases away...Today looked like it was going to be an easy day, the way it always was after a series of big cases...

Ms. Jade came in with breakfast...

Bagels and Cream Cheese and Jelly..

Coffee and Doughnuts...

and Orange Juice..

Ms. Yvette came in...She was reading the mail....

''Well Good Morning.." she said and spread some cream cheese on a bagel and began to munch, while reading her mail...

"I don't believe this...I've been picked for Jury Duty...I've got to report the day after tomorrow." she said.

"You're an Attorney , you can't do jury duty!" said Bee Bee.

''Sure I can ..Any one of you could too!  You're American Citizens....The thing is...I don't want to do jury duty right now.." said Yvette, laughing.

"Can you get out of it?" said Kahlil..

"Welll depending on who the Judge is....I mean if it's somebody I know and we know a lot of judges..I'll be able to get out of this...Plus..What ADA would want ME on a jury?"laughed Yvette...

"Yeah for real, as many of them as we have beaten in court...It would be crazy to have any one of us on a jury.." I said..

"You'll get out of it.."said Sofia..

"Yeah I'm sure.." said Ms. Jade..

Attorney and Former Judge Patricia Reynolds walked into our office...

"Yvette ,guys...I-I need your help...My niece, Della Avenue was locked up for murder....She worked as a Br Maid at Aqua Bar..She was raped over the weekend and apparently traumatized...She shot and killed the guy who raped her..She needs legal representation.." said Patricia..

"Patty not only were you a Judge, but I remember, before that you were an incredible trial attorney..You don't want to represent her?" asked Yvette...

"It would be better if I didn't...It's a long story..."said Patricia.

"Della Avenue...I know her....The Barmaid at Aqua Bar. She was raped?" I asked in shot..

''Wow..I just saw her a few nights before when we were there for Salsa Night."said Kahlil..

"I remember...Oh my god...raped." said Bee Bee.

"Poor girl and she killed the guy?" asked Sofia.

"Two days after the fact...She was traumatized.....They know this is the guy that raped her..They lifted his prints and DNA off of her panties.. and she took a rape kit...The semen was a 100 percent DNA match for the rapist..but..she hunted him down and shot him in cold blood and then turned herself in...She needs the best legal representation she can get...." said Patricia.

"Don't worry Patricia...Tomorrow we'll go and talk to your niece..."said Yvette..

"Ohhhh thank you Yvette.."said Patty...

In the Fishbowl...Della Avenue sat silently, saying nothing..

In boots, leggins and the top she was wearing the day of the shooting..

"Look, we have your registered firearm, with your print on it and you at the scene...We know you killed this guy and we know he's the guy who raped you.." said Lt. Tragg..

"Interview Over Lieutenant..."said a smiling Ms. Yvette.

"Hiii Della." said Bee Bee..

"Heyyyy girl..how you doing?" I said..

"Heyyy Della.."said Sofia.

"Heyy Baby!" said Kahlil...

"Talk about a lost cause"laughed Lt. Tragg as he walked out of the "Fishbowl", the nickname the detectives gave to the interrogation room..

Della looked up...She didn't know Ms. Yvette, but she recognized Bee, Me, Sofia and Kahlil..We were regular customers of Aqua Bar, especially on Salsa night.. 

"Somebody told me you guys were lawyers...Look I don't have any money to pay your fee and plus this is kinda an -" before she could say anymore, Ms. Yvette shushed her..

"Don't say anything....We've got you an arraignment hearing in two hours..We are going to try and get you out on bail...Don't worry about your legal fees..they've been taken care of...and any possible bail too." said Yvette..

She signaled Lt. Tragg , who came back, handcuffed her and re-read her her rights as a female matron escorted her to the holding center upstairs.

THREE HOURS LATER-

We met in court for the Bail hearing..

Judge Michael King was presiding...We would have much preffered my father or Judge Percy Reynolds, even Judge Wong..Judges more inclined to be friendly towards us... He was okay as Judges go, but not likely to rule on a cheap bail..

ADA McCafferty was the prosecutor....

He argued that this woman had indeed committed a murder , a cold blooded pre-meditated murder..and was a danger to the general public..

We argued that our client had no prior criminal record, was severly traumatized by being sexually assaulted and would probably not harm another soul..

We brought the entire staff of Aqua Bar , who knew her, as charactor witnesses.. This was usually enough to get bail or an ankle bracelet to monitor the client..We got neither.

"Normally under certain circumstances I would grant bail, but because of the severity of this crime..I am hearby revoking bail.. The suspect, Ms. Della Avenue is to be remanded to the Women's Correctional Facility at Valhalla until the time of her trial.." said Judge Micheal King..

"Awww Mannn, I can't believe it." said Bee Bee.

"We are up against it on this one."said Sofia..

"I told you guys this was a lost cause.." said Della.

"No it's not Della...We are going to come to see you...Tomorrow...Don't say anything...Don't talk to anyone..Don't trust anyone...Except us...You talk only to us..Okay."said Ms. Yvette..."Oh and my name is Yvette Jones-Lockwood.." she said.

"Pleased to meet you...I know your associates...They frequent my uh former place of employment quite a bit.."said Della with a smile..

''We are going to get you back at the bar.." I said.

"Yeah...Don't you worry." said Kahlil..

"You just hang on.."said Sofia..

"Yes hang on.."said Bee Bee..rubbing Della's hands..

"I wish I had you guys faith.."sighed Della as she was led away in handcuffs...

"You shouldn't have taken this case Yvette...This one is a real loser." said Lt. Tragg.

III-

THAT NIGHT-

Ms. Yvette and Gary were Home..

"I've got Jury Duty tomorrow, I can't go with the kids to Valhalla to visit our new client..I'll go next week when we go to see her." said Yvette..

"Provided you don't get picked for a jury..."laughed Gary..

''Oh it's no way I'll get picked for Jury Duty.."laughed Yvette.

Gary passed her a cup of Orange Organic Tea.

Yvette sipped it...It was good..she let the aroma go up her nostrils....She smiled from ear to ear...

"Mmmmm.. this gets me in the mood. "said Yvette.

"Well Alrightttt!."said Gary...just staring at Yvette...

"You are such a horn dog....but you're my horn dog...and I love you Gary...." she laughed..

She kissed him softly.....

"I love you tooo!" he moaned..

"Ummmmm I love you Vettie." he moaned softly...

"I love you too!" she whispered...

"Do you really?" he asked..

''You don't even understand how much at this point." she said..

"Show me." he said softly...

"Gladly.. Come Here...." she whispered....

He had her in the corner, running his hands down into her panties..kissing her passionately and she fondling him softly...They both were driving each other crazy.....

''Ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu girl....." he moaned..


"OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH GARYYYYY!" she sighed..

In no time they were on his big couch making sweet love..

to only the light of the stars....

The  soft couch heaved under their weight, but was so soft...

"Ohhhhhhhhhhh my god...baby..you are so soft, so wet." Gary cried out!

"Garyyyyyyyyyyried Ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu" Yvette moaned.

"Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm  Vettie! You are my sweet sweet girrrrl"  Gary moaned.

"ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh  Garyouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu..I love you soo much...

Ouuuuu you don't even know.."she cooed.. 

"Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh girrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrl...my sweet sweet girllllll" Gary moaned

Ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.."she moaned... 

"Yvette   sooo soft, sooo wet baby...I'm going crazyyyy.."Gary moaned..

 "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh  Gary ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu" Yvette cooed..

"OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" he moaned loudly.

"OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MY godddddddddddddd  Gary

OHHHHHHHHHHHHH MY godddddddddddddd!!"she cried out!!! 

EIGHT TO NINE HOURS smoothly passed by as they made love under the moonlight...

Tears and sweat ran down the sides of both of their faces...Yvette's legs began to shake furiously and she began to move her head from side to side and cry like a little girl...

"OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD GARY!" she cried out..

"Ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu Yvette...MS. YVETTE!  OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" he moaned..

Yvette laughed...

Gary enjoyed making love to her so much....

With only the city skyline and the light of the Moon and stars to witness...She would be so relieved at jury duty tomorrow.

IV-

The next day..Yvette was back in court in the jury pool...

Judge Wong was the judge...

Jake Patais was the ADA....The young Assistant District Attorney known as "Lawyer Bae", the heart throb of all of the female attorneys, defense and prosecutors..

The Defense Attorney was Stewart James

an Old Attorney who had been around for years...

Yvette had seen him around over the years...She had thought he had retired..

Jake Patais saw her in the jury pool and he smiled..he asked her a few questions...She answered honestly.. He smiled and said to her surprise..

"This juror is acceptable to the prosecution..."

Yvette looked at him in pure shock...He knew who she was...He KNEW she was a defense attorney...Was he out of his mind?? Where was his girlfriend? ADA Diane Baronski..???

Old Stewart James asked her a barage of questions..

She knew as a Defense Attorney herself, she wouldn't have any type of Attorney on any jury of hers..No way...

To her utter shock, He said. "Your Honor, this juror is acceptable to the defense.."

"Alright...A Jury has been picked. Trial will begin on Tuesday at 10:00 AM..Be on time and be ready for trial.." said Judge Wong..

Yvette stood there in shock... She couldn't believe she had been picked for jury duty...The last time she had been picked...Three years ago..The minute they discovered she was an Attorney, she was dismissed from the jury pool and told she could go home...She couldn't believe she got picked...She wondered what kind of case this was..
