THE OFFICE OF ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY MATTHEW MULDOON-

ADA Matt Muldoon was looking us up on his laptop and preparing for a battle royale against us in court...

He had heard about the Judge being called up before the Board of Legal Ethics and almost getting booted off the case, which he didn't care about one way or the other... but he knew that Olivia Bennett-Alexander and her niece, Beverly West were two very good attorneys with lots of trial experience and the three other attorneys with them, Nelson East, Josie Boyd and Bresha Billips were no slouches either.
You had to bring your A game when you dealt with them...Plus..they had a cracker jack investigator..namely me...who gave them an extra edge...

He called Assistant District Attorney Mellissa Wharton.....

It had been a week and he hadn't seen or heard from her...She hadn't returned his calls or texts....He wondered if he'd said or done something wrong?

Meanwhile at our home ,our meetings with our client, Ronnie Shanahan continued.
She and her attorney, Dexter Braxton met with us in our conference room...

"Do I have this wear this Ankle Bracelet?" she asked.

She found it uncomfortable and embarrassing to wear in public...It was like a scarlet letter , telling everybody she was on house arrest.

"Unfortunately. you do...The Judge agrees with the ADA that you're a flight risk.. I know that's ridiculous, but that's how it is.."said Olivia.

"I thought you were going to rush that Judge and cut him Beverly."laughed Ronnie, turning  to Beverly....

"It nearly came to that!" said Beverly dryly....She was still frosty at how that Judge had spoken to her.

"You probably don't want to have to come over here everyday.....So this is a Portal...This way, we can communicate with you up until trial time about the progress of your case...You can see what we are doing and answer any questions you may have." said Josie.

"And this is a burner phone." said Bresha.

"It's untraceable.....We change the sim card every three days...Write this number down...You are only to contact us at this number...It can't be traced...Don't call our personal phones or our business phones."said Bresha.

"WOWWWW! You guys cover all of your bases huh?" said Ronnie.

"That's why we win cases." said Nelson...

"Refreshments anyone?" said Alfreda,

who brought out a pitcher of Ice Tea and  glasses for everyone.

II-

While Olivia , Nelson, Beverly,Josie and Bresha were entertaining Ronnie....Dexter and I were at the crime scene.. Their luxurious townhouse.

I was in Homicide Detective mode today....Looking at the crime scene the way a homicide detective would.

I usually had Beverly along with me...but today ,I had Dexter Braxton with me... He was an attorney and he had a written court order from a judge, allowing me to search the premises... The Judge was not
James Wilson who probably would have denied me the right to observe the crime scene..
The first thing I noticed was the point of entry....

"For once, Lt. Tragg got it right....Any first year Homicide Detective can see this crime scene was staged... Look at the broken glass... A professional thief would not have broken the glasss...Broken glass makes too much noise,,,and the fact that according to these crime scene photos...the lights were on..
A professional, even a first time thief would have seen that someone was in this place and they would have found another place to rob.... and finally , after going through all that...They only stole four of his expensive watches...leaving behind jewelry and some cash...Nah...this was staged....now my question is
by who and why?" I said.

"My you are good...but Ronnie had nothing to do with this. She was at Gazpachos Restaurant like she said."said Dexter Braxton...

"I've got a question...Where is the Butler?, Where is the Maid? Where is The Valet?  "I asked.

"I-I-I uh suppose it's their day off?" said Dexter..

"I suppose it's their YEAR off....Nobody has worked here in quite sometime...and this place is cold...
Where's the heat baby?   The Gas has been cut off....I saw the cut off notice....The Electric and Water are soon to be cut off too...and where are the cars? Why did she come over to our house in an Uber...
THEY WERE BROKE WEREN'T THEY?  " I said.

Dexter smiled nervously...I could sense his uneasiness.....

"Uh close to it!" he said.

"And I checked out her alibi...She was not at Gazspachos...They were booked solid that night.  I watched hours of videos from the restaurant...She's not on it... Now if my wife and niece are going to defend her, they have to know the truth...because if I know this...Lt. Tragg knows this and Assistant
District Attorney Muldoon knows it...Now where was she?" I asked.

"She was with me....Earlier in the day she had gone to see an attorney about a divorce...Then she and I had a quiet little dinner at a Cantina." he said.

"How long have you two been kickin it?" I asked.

"You knew didn't you?" sighed Dexter..

"I know body language....I could see it." I said.

"We've been together about six months......We've been real low key about it.....Damn you're good..No wonder Olivia and Beverly are never caught off guard,,,By the way , Do they know?" he asked.

"Yes they do...In order for them to conduct a decent defense they have to know the truth.." I said.

At home in our law library , Beverly, Josie and Bresha were in the law library looking at crime scene photos, studying the autopsy report and looking at predicates, laws in like cases and general laws pertaining to this case..They were working hard.

Nelson was right next door in our Media Room, looking at Jurors and compiling information, age, race, education and how they vote, etc.. And trying to decide which type of juror we would want for our trial..

He was working hard.

In the conference room, Olivia was having a heart to heart with Ronnie.

"Listen Ronnie in order for us to defend you you need to be honest with us and you haven't been...here is what we know...You were not in Gazspachos that night like you said. They were booked solid that night.  My husband watched hours of videos from the restaurant...You're not on it.. You were at an attorney's house seeing about a divorce... Your husband was a degenerate gambler....He gambled away his fortune and was deeply in debt...Your electric, your gas and your water was on the verge of being cut off, Your Maid, Your Butler and Your Valet left months ago...because they weren't being paid...And All of your husband's cars had been reposessed....It was cold in your house.. So cold you weren't staying there any longer...Where's the heat baby? You were staying with Dex, who was who you were with on the night of the murder."said Olivia.

"You know everything."said Ronnie...

"Yes Dear and if I know this much....You can bet Assistant District Attorney Muldoon and Lt. Tragg know this too!...If I didn't know this and went into that courtroom with what you told me, We'd look like fools..And I don't like looking like a fool.. Now, you were at this Cantina....Your credit cards tell me you were and your smartphone GPS tracker place you there... How long have you and Dex been kicking it?" asked Olivia.

"Oh My God! You know everything!" said Veronica..  "I feel naked." she said.

"You'd feel worse if this came out at trial and we weren't able to control the narrative. "said Olivia.

"We've been together for about six months....He was always attracted to me...but I was married..When my marriage began to fall apart...He was there...he was more than just my attorney, he was my friend , a listening ear and eventually, my lover.." she said.

III-

At our sub-basement apartment in our office duplex-

Dexter and Ronnie got ready for the night..

"Olivia, Beverly, thank you for uh letting us crash here for a few days...." said Dexter contritely...

"I guess it's cool since you uh know about us now!~" said Ronnie.

"This is the safest place for you...Free from police harassment and the press as well."said Olivia.

"I brought down new bedsheets and pillowcases for you." said Beverly. There is a closet over there and a chest of drawers and a bathroom and shower right there....And that Television has cable and streaming channels and a sound bar." said Beverly..

"You two have made the most of this building...You and your husbands live on the two top floors...You have an office and a downstairs kitchen, a law library and a media room....wowwwww, you've got it made." gushed Ronnie...

"It's comfortable, but we call it home."said Olivia with a smile.

"Nice!  Thank you again , both of you." said Ronnie.

"You're welcome...See you in the morning." said Beverly.

Alone, Dexter and Ronnie stared at each other...

"Ronnie, these are the only people who know about us...We don't have to sneak around anymore.."said Dexter.

"No we don't....My husband is dead...No more guilt." said Ronnie.

"Come here.....I've been wanting to kiss you all day." he said softly...

"And I've wanted you to." she said , giving him a slow soft kiss

a kiss that grew more passionate and hot by the seconds...

They slowly undressed each other, continuing to kiss...

"Ohhhhh baby..." he moaned..

"Sweetie.." she cooed..
He slowly unsnapped her bra....

and slipped her panties down...

"OH MY GOD! YOU HAVE THE BEST PANTIES!" he remarked..

"Thank you...but you're so busy slipping them off I didn't think you noticed.." she said.

"Well I Noticed." he said.

They lie across the bed, kissing, practically slobbering over each other..

"Ohhhhh baby..." he moaned..

"Sweetie.." she cooed..

"OUUUUUUU YOU ARE HARDDDD!" she exclaimed...

He turned her over and entered her warm wet center....She smelled good, had soft baby like skin and
moved with his body almost perfectly.....

He remembered the very first time he had sex with her...how wet she was..how he didn't know if he was coming or going...

He came so hard and so fast, he was nearly embarrassed...He got himself together and resumed making love to her that time...he was so enamored with her...He couldn't bring himself to stop...

They made sweet love for EIGHT TO NINE HOURS, with her having up to four orgasms....

She was insatiable tonight....She spread her legs and crawled on top of him , moving up and down on him...

"MMMMMMMMMMMMMM LET ME RIDE THAT MONSTER!" she cooed..

"OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" he moaned.

"MMMMMMMMMMM  YOU ARE SO DAMN BIG!! SO DAMN HARD!! OUUUUUU!" she cooed..

"AWWWWWWWWWWWW YOU ARE SO SOFT , SO WET!" he exclaimed..

ANOTHER TWO HOURS WENT BY!

He came so hard, he thought he was dying...

She lie comfortably on top of him...Her left leg still trembling...

"Ouuuuuuuuu I'm still cumming..that was awesome....Ouuuuuuuuuu" she whispered as they both drifted off into their most comfortable sleep in days.

Blocks away....

Dressed in all black ,Judge James Wilson stared in Brooke's window at her..

She was kissing her husband, Sean, which was driving him insane..

and Sean was taking her clothes off...

unsnapping her bra

slipping down her panties...It was too much to bare....

He couldn't take much more...He stumbled back to his car and pulled off!

IV-

A Normal day of trial preparation-

Nelson and I were explaining to Dexter, the intricacies of trial science and jury selection.

"We have on the screens here, photos of the present jury pool....We have their age, race, education, employment records, school records, how they vote....the whole book on them..."explained Nelson.

"Based on our client and the type of case it is, we pick the type of juror most favorable to our client." I explained.
"Isn't having this information uh slightly illegal?" asked Dexter...

"Not at all, The Jury Pool is public record...Any attorney can look at it and write up questions for these perspective jurors and decide who they want or definitely don't want before the trial just like we do....The thing is...Most attorneys don't take advantage of this." said Nelson...

"Wow!" said Dexter.

"It's not an exact science....but it's as close as we can come to one." I said.

As Dexter marveled at our screens in our media room.

And Next door in our law library, Josie, Beverly and Bresha were hard at work, still looking at autopsy reports, witness statements, and studying laws, predicates and like cases...

"We are really going to have to bring our A. Game and have all of our ducks in a row on this one."said  Josie.

"This Judge is capable of either dismissing our facts or telling us to shut up and move on, like he did in that bail hearing....Don't think he's going to go easy on us....Our attempt to have him removed was unsuccessful....He was just shocked that we brought him up on charges in the first place."said Beverly.

"Yeah , he may be even nastier this time than he was before....I can't wait for this trial to be over to be rid of him for good..."said Bresha.

And in our conference room,

Veronica lay her head down on the table and dozed off...

Olivia was looking at Witness Statements  and the Police Crime Scene report. while drawing up a trial strategy.....

Alfreda poured her some coffee....

"Thank You Freda.." said Olivia.

The doorbell rang...

"Who could that be?   Sure hope it's not Lt. Tragg and if it is...He'd better have a warrant...." said Alfreda as she headed for the door.

It wasn't Lt. Tragg.

It was Bonnie Shay, Insurance Investigator and Attorney....

"Hi Olivia....Happy New Year...I need to discuss something with you about this case." she said.
