Daybreak.....

In her new home...

her beautiful new home.. Assistant District Attorney Natalie Tennison was discovering something about her new live in boyfriend, Attorney David Charles..  He loved her...He was madly in love with her and he was the horniest man alive..

Natalie Tennison and David Charles were no strangers here...They had stayed here for two weeks when Charles was trying a big case...The Case that put him on the map, with Olivia and Beverly's help...Brooke had been successfully defended by Olivia in another case...She had had dinner here..

Hard to believe she and Natalie had battled them fiercely in four trials..Three that led to three hung juries, and a fourth one that led to an acquittal... ADA's who lost to Olivia and Beverly didn't wind up being their friends and eating with them.. but now they were all on the same side..working together...on a Wrongfully Convicted Case.. Their first big case..

"Come and get it people, breakfast is served..."said Beverly's mother and the team's Office Manager, Alfreda Cambridge, who was married to ADA Rockland Cambridge, a colleague of theirs.

"There are no guests here..We are all family..." said Olivia's husband, Donnie Ray...

"Yes, welcome." she said.  She and her husband, and Ms. Alfreda prepared breakfast everyday before they started work.. They were all very good cooks ,so this was a treat.

They had Pancakes, Eggs to order, Hash Browns and Hot Coffee...

''We are soooo glad to have you guys here with us, working this case." said Beverly.

"Yes, I guess you can tell , We like company." said Nelson..

"This is a beautiful place you guys have here...It's so comfortable...So warm..."said Brooke.

''Even though we are at work.. It doesn't feel like it.. It's like we have a day off." said Natalie 

"This place is like a law university...A Post Law school...You'll see ." said David Charles, who had lived with them for two weeks, soaking in everything he had learned.

"It truly is and we try to make it as comfortable as possible." said Josie Boyd, who lived across the street.

"It truly is... I interned with Olivia and Beverly and fell in love with them, their whole operation...I was overjoyed  when they asked me to join their staff full time." said Bresha, the newest and youngest member of the team.

After Breakfast...It was downstairs and into the adjacent building, which had been turned into a law library...

"THIS IS INCREDIBLE...UNBELIEVABLE!!!" said Brooke, just marveling at everything.,

"It's Like their Batcave." joked Natalie..

Beverly laughed.. "That is a way of thinking about it." she said.

Bresha chuckled.

So Did Josie.

Charles was in Heaven.. He remembered being around all of these good looking women, who smelled great and dressed to the nines, this was a far cry from his old crowded and sloppy office at the Public Defender's Office... Everybody here had been a Public Defender except Josie and Bresha.. They knew how to grind just the same.

Armed with Laptops, they did the neccesary research, Looking at the case of a man, Eugene Wilder , who had been imprisoned for 16 years for a murder he swears he did not committ.. They looked at trial transcripts, studied all laws pertaining to the case, predicates and simular cases for references...

It was hard painstaking work, but it was the kind of work that led to courtroom wins..

They went next door with Nelson, Olivia and Donnie Ray..where they were again looking at trial transcripts, witness statements from the original crime and crime scene photos on the screens in front of them...

Donnie Ray had ordered some additional DNA tests and was awaiting them....

Nelson explained Trial Science to them and how picking the right juror could make the difference between a win and a loss....

''Although it didn't work with you two...You two hung us up three times...It took a fourth jury to finally get an acquittal.."said Nelson..

Everybody laughed....While looking at profiles of the possible jury pool with work ups done by Donnie Ray...

"We can evaluate, which juror we want for which case...It's not exact science, but more times than not..It's what gives us and edge."said Olivia.

"Having these talented people around you, Your husband, Your niece, Nelson, Josie and Bresha must make life so much easier for you."said Brooke.

"Oh it does...I dreamed about running my own practice the whole time I was a Public defender and how I'd like to have a good investigator, smart young attorneys around me and an Office manager to file my briefs away..To make life easier, you know ?"chuckled Olivia.

''And you got it girl...Think of us...the only investigator we had was Lt. Tragg... "said Natalie.

The whole room burst into laughter.

"He was the worst..Does a half assed investigation if you want to call it that...won't recanvass and won't take any advice from a woman at all...All he wanted to do was slip his hands up under her skirt."said David Charles.

"Like you're doing to me right now."whispered  Natalie in his ear..... David removed his hand...Natalie put it back...

"I didn't say I didn't like it." she whispered and smiled.

David Blushed something crazy...

Everybody ordered their lunches in....and they were delivered to them...

At Night after work..

They all along with the spouses of Olivia's staff and Brooke's husband, Sean Marks had dinner upstairs..

"Like we always say, fix yourself a plate...There are no guests here...Just family."said Alfreda.

"You've all worked hard, you deserve it."said Donnie Ray...

"You'll be happy to know...I've been giving your boss glowing reviews on all of you, you're fast learners."said Olivia.

"But of course."said Beverly, who was happy to be reunited with her old school yard friend, Natalie.

She and Natalie and Jazzy and Kayla 

bought their first bras together as they grew into woman hood..That's how far back they went..

Nelson enjoyed having David Charles around, 

another male lawyer...They had become pretty close. In a way they were just alike..both with the girl of their dreams, who they didn't think they had a shot at...both had met their future loves at the Public Defender's Office.

Josie made a plate for her husband, Paris...

Paris smiled.. He wished he worked closer to all of his new friends...He sometimes felt isolated from them during the day.

Bresha was sitting in her husband's lap...

Tony was squeezing her tight. She was giggling like a school girl..

Rockland, formerly a very uptight man , very hard to get a read on had lightened up in years and was casually talking to Brooke.

Brooke reasoned, that being married to Alfreda had mellowed him,calmed him down and actually having friends had loosened him up, made him more human...

Sean Marks was impressed...It was his first time here..

"This is a great place you have Olivia." he said. They had taken him on the complete tour, Both domiciles, the law library, the media room...He was blown away.

Natalie actually sat on  David's lap...He was naturally as erect and as hard as a board.. She put her arms around his neck and laid her head on his shoulders after they finished dinner.. They made a cute couple.

David was in hog heaven...You could see it on his face.

This was their routine for the next two weeks.. and the last two afternoons.. Jazzy, Dabnis, Kayla and Ray joined everybody for dinner.

"Hey Nat.. I'm gonna give you some time to get yourself situated in your new place...Then we gotta hang out.. Go shopping one Saturday." said Jazzy...

"Oh Lord, David...Don't let em do it." said Dabnis, howling with laughter..

"Oh Stop it.. Me and Bev and Jazzy and Josie go shopping together all the time."laughed Kayla.

"Yeah we know...That's why he said what he said."joked Ray...

As everybody burst into laughter.

It was all very nice and cozy....

We took the case to court..

with Jetty Dukes serving as Judge... Brooke, Natalie, David , Olivia, Beverly, Nelson, Josie, Bresha and Donnie Ray won an acquittal for the man who had spent 16 years in Prison for a crime he didn't commit . Unfortunately..The actual killer, the most likely killer due to DNA evidence had been dead for 8 years.

"I like to win and this team as they have proven are winners."said an exuberantly happy Brooke.

''Yes they Are." laughed Natalie.

When it came to law...David Charles was as zeroed in and as focused as could be...completely immersed in it... Other than that...he was completely immersed in Natalie.

"I like to win too Brooke...That's why we prepare so hard for it."said Olivia.

"It's so rewarding seeing people freed from an unjust sentence or not going to jail at all." said Beverly.

"Yes....that's why I got into this law thing...to help people."said Nelson..

''Same here"said Josie.

"Ditto." said Bresha.

"All that said.. Let's eat." said Donnie Ray, laughing...  Everybody clapped in agreement.

They celebrated by having Breakfast at Sam Mother's paid for by a vey happy 

Karen Page, who oversaw the entire process, 

Communicating daily with Olivia on the progress of the case and her new associates via Portal... Olivia assured her that they were earning their paychecks.... This case proved it..

They were seated at a long table which seated 12....

Lt. Tragg walked in...He saw all 11 people seated at the table.. Naturally he walked over and seeing Karen sitting there he attempted to invite himself over..

"I'm afraid that seat is reserved." said Karen diplomatically. Placing her hand over the one empty seat left...between her and Josie.

"Reserved for who?" asked Lt. Tragg.

"Him!!!....Josie's husband...He agreed to meet us here this morning after trial."said Karen. Relieved that Paris walked in just then and took the last remaining seat.

Paris walked in and sat down next to his wife, Josie.

Josie was relieved...She did not want to be sitting next to Lt. Tragg.

Beverly looked at her and smiled.

"Paris, we've  already ordered, So just signal a waitress to come over." said Nelson breaking the tension.

Bresha and Olivia looked at each other and smiled.

Donnie Ray and David sat stoically as the waitress arrived with their orders..

Natalie and Brooke did the same.. Their orders came and they began to eat..

"Why don't you go to the counter and order your breakfast.?" said Jetty Dukes to Lt. Tragg who he had thrashed  royally a few months ago for bothering his now wife, Virginia.

"WHY DON'T YOU BUTT OUT?......er Your Honor..." said Lt. Tragg snidely...

"Was there something you wanted Lieutenant?" asked Karen meekly.

"I want to know...why three great Assistant District Attorneys lost their edge, lost their desire to prosecute and lock up dangerous criminals and decided to take a dead end and thankless job helping long convicted losers get OUT of jail...and work in a building that's west of hell and away from everything."he snarled.

"To get away from you Lieutenant....To get away from you...You took the joy out of prosecuting , always arresting the wrong person...never fully investigating a case.... My partner and I had a near perfect record until we ran into you...Lost our first case largely because of your faulty investigation..and our second case.....but thanks to you...I met my boyfriend, who won his case and might have been our third loss, if we had tried it... Thank you for getting us kicked off the case.. I hate to lose...So does my partner..Now..We're on the winning team...Does that answer your question? Now run along." said Natalie.

He would have preferred one of Beverly's smart alecky barbs!

He was left speechless... "Don't blame me for your loss of spirit of conviction....You, You and that Pussy whipped boyfriend of yours...Couldn't win a case on his own...So he ran and got Olivia and Beverly." he snarled.

"I managed to win 50 cases on my own before I met them and before I was dating Natalie...Check the records...Oh yeah that's right..You don't read." said David Charles...

The entire table burst into laughter...

He stomped his foot and stormed out of the diner, which was met by claps and cheers....

Their First Victory!  Everyone was happy.

II-

Less than a week later...Their second big case... They were in their building this time.. Still feeling good from their  time with Olivia and Beverly.

They were in the suite belonging to Yvette Jones Lockwood.. She and her team were the first team to beat Brooke and Natalie.

''Welcome.... Everybody is waiting on you "said Virginia , smiling..

"I see why your husband gets so dreamy eyed when he speaks of you... You are a beautiful woman." said Brooke.

"Awww thank you." said Virginia.

"Pleased to meet you."said Natalie.

"Pleased to meet you." said David Charles.

"I remember you...You were in all the newspapers.." said Yvette to David...She then looked at Brooke and Natalie.. "And How could I forget you two... Toughest case we ever had to fight..I'm glad we are on the same side now.

In the conference room ,Yvette's staff, Attorneys Keith Jones, His wife, Beatrice Evans-Jones, Sofia Garcia-Ahmed, her husband, Kahlil Ahmed and investigator, Jade Lee Ho...

"Hey Brooke, Natalie, David." said Keith

"Hi Brooke, Natalie, David. Welcome" said Bee Bee.

"Hola  Brooke, Natalie, David.we have Bagels, Cream Cheese, Doughnuts and Pastries and Churros...I heard you like them too Natalie..So I ordered them when I heard you were coming."said Sofia.

"OUUUUUUUUUUU SOFIA GIRL, I LOVE YOU!" said Natalie.

"Hi Brooke, Natalie, David. Welcome" said Kahlil...

"Welcome" said Jade..

All of them had their laptops out.

As they ate , they filled them in on the case... A young woman who had been in prison for a year for supposedly masterminding two armed robberies.. It was clearly a case of mistaken identity, her former attorney alleged.  He had brought the case to the Wrongful Conviction Unit..

Yvette had been intrigued by the details of the case.

She and Karen had discussed the case at Lunch and Yvette and her team signed on to take the case.. Those nice checks they were getting from the city helped too!

Karen felt very fortunate that her two girlfriends from Law School, Olivia and Yvette were on her speed dial to help out when she got a big case..Those two teams were largely responsible for her success with the WRONGFUL CONVICTION UNIT... They hadn't lost a case yet..

Karen decided to give her young charges this case also, due to their success in the last case.

Yvette and her team worked exactly like Olivia and Beverly..

Natalie, Brooke, Bee Bee and Sofia did research,  Looking at the case of a woman ,Naomi  who had been imprisoned for a year for masterminding two armed robberies. The robberies netted close to 2 million dollars . She claimed her estranged husband masterminded the robberies and framed her.They looked at trial transcripts, studied all laws pertaining to the case, predicates and simular cases for references...

It was hard painstaking work, but it was the kind of work that led to courtroom wins just as Olivia had explained.

Charles, Natalie and Brooke joined Yvette, Keith Jones and Kahlil Ahmed in their media room, along with Investigator Jade and Karen Page.

Like with Olivia, Donnie Ray and Nelson,  they were again looking at trial transcripts, witness statements from the original crime and crime scene photos on the screens in front of them..

Jade had been gathering additional witness and eyewitness statements and looking over the original arrest records.

.Karen was overseeing the entire thing.

Most days they had Breakfast,Lunch and Dinner in their cafeteria with their friends, Jazzy, Dabnis, Kayla, Ray, Jessica, Chip and Tony...

Other days, they were working so hard on this case..(with Keith, Bee Bee, Sofia, Kahlil ,Jade and even Ms.Virginia, who even though a disbarred attorney, was now a consultant and gave them much needed sage advice.) They ordered their lunch in or they brought it. 

Olivia and Beverly had hipped them to a Hoagie Shop in the neighborhood they used and they ordered Hoagies to go the night before that they took with them for lunch.

They had learned of Chinese Bob's and had Chinese Take Out delivered often.

"I know you miss being downtown and all the shopping and the people and being down here is so quiet and out of the way...I miss it too...We all used to be in town, but I like the closeness of all of us down here..The fact that I'm in a building with all of my good friends and I have peace. When it gets warmer in the summer you'll have days you can go into town." said Ms. Yvette to Natalie and Brooke.

"Ms. Yvette, I don't miss it at all.. Like you said.. I'm here with friends...It's quiet and I can eat all of my meals without Lt. Tragg all up in my grill.. I'm sorry he knows we work here.. At least he doesn't know about you guys..."said Natalie.

"He knows Karen works here too, but he never comes down here.. This is a graveyard to him...If he only knew." laughed Brooke.

Once again.. it was a case we had to try in a courtroom.. With Jetty Dukes sitting in as Judge, once again.. The team of Brooke , Natalie, Yvette, Keith, Bee Bee, Sofia,Kahlil and Jade won an acquital for the woman, accused of being the mastermind of the two robberies.. Her now divorced husband, who refused to testify on her behalf, remains in prison serving a 22 year sentence.

It felt good to win...

Karen once again sprung for breakfast for the entire team..

Plus they had a special on Buttermilk Biscuits and Gravy that was to die for..

"If this is what winning feels like...I like it." said David Charles..

"It does feel good... A whole lotta things feel good.!" said Natalie.

"You aint never lied girlfriend." said Brooke.

"I'm so proud of you three...Gil told me you were superstars...and for once..He didn't lie.. "said Karen.

"I knew they were good.. Natalie and Brooke were two of the toughest prosecutors we ever faced...I'm glad we are all working on the same side now."said Ms. Yvette, smiling.

"Ditto that." said Keith Jones.

"Now we can be girlfriends and go shoe shopping after a big case."said Bee Bee.

"Yeah!" said Sofia.

"Another one down."said Kahlil.

"Yes sirrrr!" said Jade.

Jetty was enjoying his hot biscuits and gravy....

"This is some good eatin...They must have a Black cook and he or she must be from down south." he said "Lawwwd today." he said.

They all were enjoying their meals when HE CAME IN.

Lt. Tragg had seen the aftermath of their case in court.. He was shaking his head...

"I don't even know how you get in contact with Yvette and her gang...They're never in their office..." he snarled.

"They're where I need them to be when I need them...That's all that matters."said Karen, wishing she could come here one time without running into hm.

He stared at David Charles.

"Look at you!  The Golden Boy, won the big case...Now you're with your girlfriends here and you're alligning yourself with Big time Attorneys and winning cases.eh?" he said.

"Nothing wrong with winning..."said David Charles.

"Why don't you try hooking up with some good detectives...You might bring in a suspect who is actually guilty.." said Natalie..

This brought Keith , Bee Bee, Sofia, Kahlil and especially Jade to raucous loud laughter...

He angrilly turned to Natalie.

"You know I never liked you...and that's why I strongly suggested that Jumpshot Jim throw you off of the team in that last case..." snarled Lt. Tragg..

"The one you guys lost right? Actually I thank you for that...Me and my girl were saved from another humiliating defeat." said Natalie.

He was beginning to despise her as much as he despised Beverly and Jade.

They had all at least finished their meals...

"I just paid the bill... We can all leave now....Yvette, guys, thanks again....for everything...Happy New Year to you all and if you see Olivia, tell her I said the same." said Karen.

"Thank you Karen, anytime." said Yvette ,hugging Karen ..She turned towards her staff...

"You guys can go home...You're off...I already told Virginia to lock up the office." she whispered..

"Thanks Boss Lady."said Keith Jones.

"Best Boss Lady EVERRRRRRRRRRR!"said Bee Bee.

"Gracias." said Sofia.

"Thanks Ms. Yvette." said Kahlil.

"Thanks!" said Jade.

"Guess I'll be heading home too, my job here is done."said Jetty...

Karen gave them cover, so they could get on the train and be gone. They wasted no time catching the train and heading home.

"You guys are free to go home too!  Great job!  I am so proud of you guys." said Karen.

"Why thank you.." said David Charles..

"Thank youuuuuuuuuuu!" said an exuberant Natalie..

"Ohhhhh thank you...I'm going to catch up on some sleep." said Brooke.

The three of them happily walked off ...They too caught the train and headed home. It had been a good day!

"Heyyy Karen, it's been awhile since we've seen each other...Why don't you and I go to Curley's and have a couple of cold ones and some quiet conversation....huh?" he whispered in her ear, while palming her behind and pulling her close..

She removed his hand and eased out of his embrace...

"No...I don't think so... I don't like the way you talked to my friends....First Olivia and her group and Then Yvette and her kids and my new staffers...You were mean and crass and rude... Brooke may have gone home to sleep... It would be hours before her husband, Sean got home.

Their Third and final case of the year involved Jessica Sanchez-Burrows and her husband, Charles "Chip "Burrows.

Jessica worked with Natalie, Brooke and David Charles in the Public Defender's Office... They all knew each other and were cordial. Natalie and Jessica had worked a few cases together... At another time, Brooke and Jessica worked a case together... David had done some research on a case for Jessica.

Charles "Chip" Burrows had been a Corporate Litigator... He had come from the same firm that Jasmine Coley and Kayla Bennett-St. Jacques work at presently..

He had decided he wanted to do defense ,criminal defense....and he studied intensely under Jessica..

They all thought that he had a thing for her. He really did!

Chip and David had been tight...He was the only one who David confided his feelings for Natalie to.

He told him he'd better shoot his shot before it was too late...

And then it was too Late.. Brooke left first to be an Assistant District Attorney, 

Jessica left to join the Innocence Project less than a week later..

Within a month, Chip was saying his goodbyes and following Jessica to the Innocence Project also and eventually  they became a couple and got married.

A Few months later-Natalie was gone too!...Brooke had got her a spot at the District Attorney's Office.

How Ironic that after all this time , Here they all were working in the same building down the hall from each other , He ,Natalie and Brooke reunited at the WRONGFUL CONVICTION UNIT and Jessica and Chip at the Innocence Project....

They were all working on a big case.....

A Man accused of a murder he says he didn't commit... He had been in prison for 10 years...

Yvette's husband, Gary, An Investigator for the D.A.'s office and a former Homicide Detective, was doing the investigation for us..

Our cases were usually settled in our building in our building's Ultra Modern Conference room, but this case ,like the previous two wound up in court...

With Jetty sitting in as Judge..

David Charles, Natalie Tennison, Brooke Kennedy-Marks and Jessica Sanchez-Burrows and Charles "Chip" Burrows won an acquittal and immediate release of the client.... making this, The 300th victory for the Wrongful Conviction Unit.

Karen once again treated everyone to breakfast on her..

Jetty declined.

"I can't take Lt. Tragg....Thanks anyway Karen.....I'm going back to the building." he said.

They all ordered Pancakes, Hash Browns, sausage ,Orange Juice and Coffee...

The waitress was just bringing in their orders when Lt. Tragg walked in..

He really didn't know or have any personal animosity toward Jessica and Chip..

But he did know that they lived next door to Yvette and Gary and were close friends and Associates of Both Yvette and her team and Olivia, Beverly and their team..

He invited himself to their table...sitting next to Karen and glaring at Natalie, Charles and Brooke.

"I guess if you can't beat em join em huh? Yvette and her snot nosed youngins and Olivia, Beverly and company cleaned your clocks and so now you work with them on cases huh?..." he laughed.. That was aimed at Natalie and Brooke. He was furious that Brooke had quit their team after Natalie had been dismissed and furious that Natalie, whether he could prove it or not had steered David Charles toward Olivia and Beverly and their team and they had won a case, a case that would have given him a higher profile.

"Why are you here? We didn't invite you to our table... Get up please!" said Karen..

"GET AWAY FROM OUR TABLE!" snarled David, who was getting angry...

''Do you just live to annoy and irritate people? This is why so many people refuse to eat here..They say anywhere is better than being in your company." said Natalie.

"Forget it Nat, talking to him is a waste of time..." said Brooke derisively...

Brooke's vehemence toward him stung him....He was hurt that she had now turned against him!

"Take your hands off my legs..." said Karen.....

They had all finished their meals...They all stood up and filed out...heading toward the train...

Karen paid for their meals...

"Nice seeing you again Sam..."said Karen , who walked out, leaving Lt. Tragg sitting alone at the table. She didn't bother to address him at all.

while the bus boys cleaned it off!!!! 

"I don't get a goodbye?" he jokingly asked Karen.

She didn't look his way or even acknowledge him....She kept on walking right out the door.

And as for Brooke, Natalie and Charles-

They loved their new building...Their new jobs and their friends, old and new....Their great cafeteria and their building's modern gym....

They were happy there.... They wouldn't be out this way in a long time if they were lucky...

They liked their new building , their new jobs, their new lives...Just as they were.

EPILOUGE-

A Few days later.....Brooke, Sean, Natalie and David were invited to dinner at Zoey and Lem Anderson's house... They lived in the next block..

They had them over for dinner.

''It's nice to finally not feel so alone up this end..seems like everybody lives six blocks away on Olivia's block."said Lem.

''We can't wait for you guys to join us on Laundry Day."said Zoey... "It doesn't sound like much fun, but it is.. "she explained.

"Oh Natalie told me about it...She and David went while Sean and I were on our honeymoon."said Brooke.

Sean was excited... He liked all of the new friends that lived on Olivia's block, Some he knew like Ray and Nelson , and their wives ..He couldn't wait to go to this "Laundry Day" and this Roller Skating Ring with all of them..

"Looks like our social lives just took an upswing."said Natalie..

"Oh Most definitely." said David, softly squeezing her butt..

"Ummmmmmmmmmm.." he silently moaned..

Natalie smiled and gently rubbed his knuckles softly...

She rewarded him with a soft, slow kiss.

Yes, things were looking up for all of them.
