MONDAY MORNING-

A Quaint little coffee shop a few blocks from our building...MOCHA JOE'S ,Ms. Yvette and I were picking up a coffee and pastries order for our office meeting...

"Mmmmmmmm smell that aroma Keith...Doesn't it smell great in here? I love Mocha Joe's " gushed Ms. Yvette.

I had to admit...It did smell good."Yes it does." I said.

"Vettie, you here again? Aren't you a long way from work?" came the surprising voice of Lt. Tragg. He was in jeans and rain boots...Not his usual immaculate attire.

Ms. Yvette was just as surprised...Lt. Tragg still had no idea that we worked just blocks from here, she played it off

"When you're a Partner, Nobody clocks your time. " she said. "This is the best coffee shop in the city I'm told and they have the best pastries... Just thought we'd stop in here and place an order before we went to work.What are YOU doing here?" she asked with a smile, even though she knew.

He was embarrassed.."Yeah that's right....You are a big mahoff now! Uh ruh...I'm still on the uh Marine Boat for I don't know how long...That Jack Ass Prosecutor, Joshua Hoffman,who your buddies, Olivia and Beverly defended ,complained to the brass that I screwed up his last case and thus I'm on Marine Boat Duty Indefinitely. said Lt. Tragg.

"Oh wow.....Sorry to hear that! " said Yvette...Glad he was off of what she was doing here.

"Hoffman really did a number on me." said Lt. Tragg..

"I understand Special Prosecutor, Peppers did a job on your cousin too...He's also on the Marine Boat." I said ,noticing that his girlfriend, Judge Kelly Anne Mercer had entered the coffee shop followed by ADA Dan Giorgio...

Lt. Tragg hit the ceiling!

"WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!!" he blurted out angrilly..

"Relax...I don't live too far from here... I'm trying a case in Judge Mercer's court tomorrow and I thought I would treat her to what I've been told is the best coffee in Philly,,We've been here before.," said ADA Diorgio with a smirk...

''Yes Arthur ,Dan offered to drive me down here to get some coffee and bagels."said Kelly Ann.

"I'm grabbing some coffees and doughnuts and bagels for the Captain and the guys on the ship."said Lt. Tragg.

"That's a switch for you isn't it? You're used to some patrolman fetching coffee for you and now you're fetching coffee for the guys on the boat again huh? You just can't stay out of trouble can you?" said ADA Diorgio with a smirk.

"YOU THINK YOU'RE FUNNY EH? I'LL KNOCK THAT SMIRK OFF YOUR FACE PAL!" said Lt. Tragg..

"OH YEAH? TRY IT PAL?" said ADA Diorgio...

"BOYS! BOYS PLEASE!" said Judge Kelly Ann, coming between them...

By now Ms. Yvette and I had our orders filled ,had paid for it and had left...heading safely back to our building and our conference room..

Back at our building...

We hurriedly got on the elevator-

"Gee Ms. Yvette, that was close....Running into him again." I said smiling..

"Ouuuuu I know...I forgot he's on that damn boat...Didn't want him to figure out that we work in this building."said Ms. Yvette.

OUR CONFERENCE ROOM-

"We'll send somebody else next time." I said.

"Yeah,Good idea."said Ms. Yvette.

We had warm Bagels with Cream cheese and Jelly....

and hot freshly baked doughnuts.

"You're right about this coffee Ms. Yvette...It is good."said Bee Bee

''As are these warm Bagels."said Sofia.

''Are the doughnuts and bagels  baked on the premises Ms. Yvette?" asked Kahlil.

"Yes I believe they are  and you can smell the doughnuts and bagels being baked as you walk up on the shoppe...I love that place...They roast the coffee right there too!" said Yvette.

''Apparently Lt. Tragg likes the place too!"laughed Jade.

''Whoever he's on that boat with apparently likes the place...They always send him to get a dozen bagels and doughnuts and coffees...His order this morning.. He came with a cart."said Ms. Yvette.

"I'd of loved to have seen that...He's the type that had patrolmen fetching him coffee." said Virginia..

"How the worm has turned." she said.

While we were enjoying breakfast, one of our favorite partners walked in with a guest...

"Hi Vettie, Hi Guys....Enjoying a mid morning snack eh?" said Mike Pratt...

"After three years we finally have someone to fill your old office....This is Alexa Pratt, no relation..heh heh..Alexa, this isYvette Jones-Lockwood, our managing partner...Senior Associates, Keith Jones, his wife, Beatrice "Bee Bee" Jones, Sofia Garcia-Ahmed and her husband, Kahlil Ahmed...their investigator, Jade Lee Ho and Office Manager and Legal Consultant, Virginia Shaw Dukes."  said Mike Pratt.

She was very pretty...Had nice legs...and a magnetic smile.

"Oh how nice to meet you all.. I'm certain I'll be visiting you all in this building a lot.. I like this building. "said Alexa...

 

 ''We love it too!"said Yvette.

"You from Philly?" I asked.. She didn't sound like she was.

"Actually, I'm from Chicago...born and raised....but I went to college here and law school, University of Pennsylvania." said Alexa.

"HEYYYYYY WE ARE ALL PENN GRADUATES, ME, My Husband, Sofia, Kahlil and Ms. Yvette." said Bee Bee.

"Yes, Mr. Pratt told me that....Wowwwww!" said Alexa....

"Nicee!" said Sofia.

"We all have that in common."said Kahlil.

"I graduated and passed the bar three years ago. This is the biggest law firm I've worked for."said Alexa.

"Hope you like it here."said Jade.

"We've got Chicago in common Alexa!!...I was born and raised there too....West Side..."said Virginia.

"South Side here.."laughed Alexa.. "You go to PENN too?" asked Alexa.

"No I went to Northwestern. Then I moved here....Been here ever since." said Virginia...

"Ohhhhh I thought about going there....but the thought of coming to Philly seemed to appeal to me more." said Alexa.

We all got along famously......

We took Alexa down to our Ultra Modern Cafeteria.

"This is where we have most of our meals...This cafeteria serves Breakfast,Lunch and Dinner." said Yvette.

"No Mid Day Snack?" Alexa joked.

"Yeah , we used to joke about that when we first started working here."said Bee Bee.

"Hey Everybody...This is Alexa.  She's new to our firm...She's going to be working in our old building

in Ms. Yvette's old office...She's visiting us today."said Sofia.

"Hi Alexa...I'm Jasmine Coley ,Attorney at Law...My friends call me "Jazzy" said Jazzy.
 

"I'm her husband, Dabnis Coley, Attorney at Law, pleased to make your acquaintance Alexa."said Dabnis.

"I'm Kayla Bennett-St.Jacques, Attorney at law, Pleased to meet you Alexa." said Kayla.

"I'm her husband, Ray St. Jacques, Attorney at Law...Pleased to meet you Alexa."said Ray.

"Hola Mami...I am Jessica Sanchez-Burrows, Attorney at Law and Director of the Innocence Project, Pleased to make your acquaintence."said Jessica.

"And I'm her husband, Charles Burrows, Attorney at law...Hello Alexa."said Chip.

"I see a number of you work with your husbands....That's so nice..."said Alexa.

"Not all of us.  I'm Karen Page, Attorney at law, Director of The Wrongful Conviction, Conviction Integrity Unit and these are my staff attorneys, Natalie Charles, her husband, David Charles and Brooke Marks"said Karen.

"Hello Alexa."said Natalie.

"Hello Alexa."said David.

"Hello Alexa."said Brooke.

"I'm Brooke's husband, Federal Public Defender, Sean Marks... I work a few blocks from here, but I come here to eat with my wife and friends."said Sean.

"Hi Alexa, I'm Zoey Easter-Anderson, Attorney at law.."said Zoey..

''And I'm her husband, Lem Anderson, I'm also an Attorney."said Lem.

"I'm Renee Cantrell Jones, Attorney at law...Hello Alexa."said Renee..

"And I'm her husband, Tyrell Jones, Attorney at Law."said Tyrell.

"Hello Alexa...I'm Paris Boyd, Attorney at law..."said Paris.

"I'm Tony Billips, Attorney at law...Hello Alexa." said Tony.

"Hi, I'm Lee Phillips-Akes, Attorney at law...I work at the Women's Law Center down the street, but I come here to eat.with my friends."said Lee.

"Hi Alexa...I'm her husband, Matthew Akes, Attorney at law...I work here at the Innocence Project with Jessica and Chip."said Matthew.

"Hello Alexa. I'm Nina Rios -Alvarez, I work at the Women's Law Center down the street ,along with my husband, Carlos Alvarez, also an Attorney."said Nina.

"And I'm her husband Carlos, pleased to meet you." said Carlos.

"You're all very beautiful people...I know I'll jump at the chance to come down here and visit."said Alexa.

 

 ''When it gets warmer...it'll be easier.  Do you drive to work?" asked Yvette.

"I do...but you know how it is with our parking lots...I'll take the train."said Alexa.

''Well so glad everybody got acquainted...What's good for lunch?" asked Mike Pratt.

"Take your pick, walk on up to the buffet with me." I said.

"Yes Alexa, let's get you some food. I know you're hungry."said Bee Bee.

"Famished." said Alexa.

"Well let's go then."said Sofia.

Kahlil followed them.

"She's getting along quite well with everyone."said Jade.

"Yeah, she's a nice girl."said Virginia.

"Very Nice." said Jetty, smiling as he admired her shapely legs and nice hips..and nice sized breasts.

"Oh thank you Ms. Yvette. oh and...My office mate told me to tell you hi... Her name is Cassidy Skyler...

She said you repped her a few years ago before she graduated from law school.. We graduated in the same class. She's in the Office right next to me...The Guys love her." said Alexa.

"Yes I remember Cassidy...Glad to hear she graduated from law school and passed the bar....She's working at McCluskey/Cozen /Connor & Pratt now...How nice...I may drop down and visit her."said Yvette.

Halfway Across town the Office Building that houses our old office and the floors that house our law firm, McCluskey/Cozen/Connor & Pratt

Unlock Alexa in the office next to hers... Cassidy Skyler, Attorney at law hadn't finished setting her office up...She hadn't even opened up all of her boxes...

She probably could get a lot more work done if she wasn't busy fighting off the advances of her male admirers..

He had been asking her out on dates since before she began working at McCluskey/Cozen/Connor & Pratt and she had been turning him down...She feared all he wanted was to get her in bed and she was beginning to be more selective in her choice of lovers..

''Son ,Don't you have some work to do? This young lady is trying to get her office set up." came the Voice of his estranged Father, Franklin Cooper, A Senior Associate with the firm...And unknown to him had been trying even harder to go out on a date with Cassidy and get her in bed.  The firm doesn't pay you to chat up females...You do that on your own time...Get to work." he said,.

"I'll see you Cassidy.."said  Ryan as he angrilly left her office.. His Father was always trying to one up him in everything.  He was seriously considering leaving the law firm just to get away from him.

Once he was gone , Frank turned his attention to Cassidy. The door was closed and there was no one else on the floor.

""Now he's gone ...Cassidy we can talk about me and you..." said Frank.

"Frannnnnk, I told you...There is no me and you....You're old enough to be my father....come on now.."said Cassidy.

"But I'm not your daddy..."he said.

"Not for me." sighed Cassidy as both women cracked up laughing.

An extremely rainy night in the city....

We were all happy to be in our warm homes after a days work.

And at Ms. Yvette's house...

"You work for McCluskey/Cozen/Connor and Pratt, She was killed in your suite...Take a look at her...She's wearing a dress exactly like yours." she said pointing to Cassidy.

They opened the body bag...

"OH MY GODD IT's LORNA!!!" exclaimed Alexa.

"You two ladies know this girl?  Come with me....I'm Lt. Arthur Clark, Homicide..I won't keep you long.." said Lt. Tragg, who directed them to get in their cars and follow him..

A Gruesome Murder!  A Rainy Night!!  Philadelphia.

THE NEXT MORNING- AT OUR CONFERENCE ROOM

 

 "Oh My God!! A Murder!! In the Suite!!" said Ms. Yvette.

"She hadn't been working there a month...She was a Para-legal.....She was so young."said Alexa, still in tears.

"Ms. Yvette, She had on the exact same dress I was wearing yesterday..We are the same height and same build and we are both blondes...Oh My God!" said Cassidy...

"Cassidy ,do you think you were the target." I asked.

"Oh I don't know...A lot of us work late sometimes... The Partners and most of the Senior Associates have left for the day... I worked until 3:00 in the morning one night last week."said Cassidy.

"I've never done that...Whatever I didn't finish at 5:00 pm waited until the next day."said Bee Bee.

"Same here...but then we were never alone..The four of us always hung together."said Sofia.

"Yeah...We came in together and left together."said Kahlil.

"Yes..We lived in apartments then...We all traveled in each other's cars back then."said Jade.

"I've worked until Midnight at my other offices...but I always had a man willing to drive me home."said Virginia.

"A lot of the young guys there willing to take you home or to your car want to come over your apartment and spend the night."said Cassidy.

"Unfortunately...That's true."said Alexa.

"Not much has changed." said Yvette.
