TUESDAY NIGHT- 8:00 PM NIGHT COURT-

NIGHT COURT-

Brenda Cherry was in court with us tonight..four days after she was arrested.Charged with Murdering her former boss.

In Philadelphia, Night Court only operates two nights a week....Tuesday and Thursday, Tonight was Tuesday...and fortunately...We got an arraignment date of 8:00 pm.

The Judge in this case would not be the Judge in the actual case....

Lt. Tragg was not there... He was probably snuggled up with Judge Kelly Ann at her loft...Night court was too low profile for him anyway....No witnesses...No media..and a bunch of Judges and ADA's who were mostly older Judges and ADA's about to retire...It was lightweight. It was in session from 7:00 pm- 10:00 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays...We were quite fortunate to get a date.

"Wow! We are first on the dockett.." said Brenda.

"That's because I put in for an arraignment on Friday Morning, before I even came to see you." said Yvette.

"That was quick thinking..."I said.

"Yeah...it got us an early arraignment and plenty of time to present our case." said Bee Bee.

"Wow, we got an 8:00 pm appointment.." said Sofia.

"How Lucky were we?" said her husband, Kahlil.

"Very Lucky, Very Fortunate indeed!" said Jade.

The ADA that did show up was not going to be the ADA that tried the case...He had only the basic out line of the case at hand... He basically wanted to go home...So he didn't really put up much of a fight.

We presented 24 charactor witnesses .Which was better thsan the last time she was on trial, when we couldn't produce one.

We argued that Brenda Cherry, a licensced practical nurse and surgeon's assistant , had worked at local hospitals and that except for Dr. Bauer, had high Performance Evaluations from everyone she worked for or with as proven by the 24 charactor witnesses we presented. with no prior criminal record was not a flight risk and eagerly wanted her day in court to face these ridiculous and outrageous charges.

The Judge agreed and released her on her own recognizance.-

"WOWWW! Thanks Vettie, Thanks Guys....I thought he was at least going to make me put on one of those ankle thingys...So glad he didn't. You guys are the best." said Brenda.

"I know you're hungry...Let's go over to Sam Mother's Diner and get you some food...Then go back to your house..pack your things and get you to Liv's place."said Yvette.

We took Brenda to Sam Mother's Diner.. Sam was happy to see us.. He didn't see much of us now of days like he used to before we moved to the Bridge Building at Penns Landing.

We all had some good old fashioned comfort food...

"UMMMMMMMMMM VETTIE, THIS IS SOOOOO GOOD...SO MUCH BETTER THAN THAT JAILHOUSE SLUDGE!" said Brenda.

"Good , and hopefully you won't have to taste anymore of that Jailhouse sludge..." said Yvette.

"Lt. Tragg and others have been known to harrass people they've arrested ,once they make bail..Even to the point of charging them with something else or looking for a reason to jail them again." I said.

"What we are going to do is a way to keep you out of sight and out of trouble until your trial."said Bee Bee.

"You'll be at Liv's place...and out of sight..."said Sofia.

''And we won't tell..." said Kahlil.

"It'll buy us time to get working on your case." said Jade.

After we finished our meals...We drove to Brenda's house , where she packed some clothes and toiletries among other things and followed us to our part of town and Olivia and Beverly's house.

"We're all right across the street Bren...."said Yvette.

"My Niece is bringing you Clean Bed sheets and Pillowcases.....and that Television monitor has streaming and cable along with surround sound. There is the bathroom over there..It has a shower and here is a chest of drawers for your things." said Olivia.

"Wow! THANK YOUUUU...This is a great place you have here Liv...You and your husband and Your Niece and her husband live here too and your law practice is on the first floor.. Nice..."said Brenda.

"Here are clean bedsheets and pillowcases." said Beverly.

"Thank you darlin....It'll feel good sleeping in this comfortable bed....Anything is better than that hard bed I slept on in the jailhouse."laughed Brenda.

"Good Night Bren, I'll see you in the morning...and thanks again Olivia and Beverly..."said Yvette.

"No problem Vettie...Anything for you."said Olivia.

Brenda was a little envious of the bond Olivia and Yvette had...She and Yvette used to be close like that.. She wasn't that envious though...She loved Olivia too...She could certainly understand it.

She settled down and went to sleep in a very comfortable bed...It was good to be free.

We all were home after a long work day and a night in Night Court.

After we all got home that night..We were all settled down with our significant others.. What better way to end a long work day like we had than to be making love.?

My girls, Beatrice and Sofia are looking at the Autopsy Report, The Crime Scene Reports, Any witness statements or observations as well as studying any laws or predicates pertinent to your case and any cases like yours and the laws mentioned in those cases." said Yvette.

They walked next door to the media room where Kahlil and I were studying the jury pool.

"My young men, Keith and Kahlil are studying the jury pool...They are looking at the Age, Voting record, Education and Employment of potential juries and looking for the right juror for your case,"said Yvette. "It's called Trial Science."she continued.

"WOWWWWWW...You guys don't play...You don't miss a trick." said Brenda, observing the jurors that came up on our screens....Her mind was blown.

"My people usually do this, but they are busy... I want you to give me your phone...Disable your GPS and hand it over to me...I'll lock it in our safe for safe keeping.

Everyone was in the cafeteria having lunch when we all arrived,

It was so nice working in this building with so many people we knew...

Lt. Tragg was as angry and unhinged as he'd ever been learning that Brenda had been sprung from jail as quick as she had...

As usual, he headed to our old building...

No one had still moved into our old space, the office was dark and empty and locked.. He waited for an hour, but when we didn't show up...He left..

He then went to Brenda's house...It was locked tight, the lights were off and there was no mail...It was clear she was not home.

He drove to the Women's Law Center, right down the street from where ironically enough, Brenda actually was...but Nina, Carlos and Lee were not there...And no one knew where they'd gone to lunch./

He didn't think to come down to our building...He simply went back to the station.. Judge Kelly Ann was in Alabama..,.She'd been gone for two weeks to attend a funeral...and her absence showed.. Lt. Tragg was back to some of his old unhinged ways.

Up in our office. Brenda talked to Yvette.

"Vettie , thanks for everything....I'm gonna catch the train...I know the way back to Olivia's." said Brenda.

"Okay... be careful girlfriend." said Yvette.

We were in our conference room having a late afternoon meeting!

"I did some digging...In the weeks after the operation....Dr. Bauer made 124 phone calls to this number...The number belongs to a Susan Hyland." said Jade.

''Susan Hyland? Susan Hyland?? Oh yeah, that's the woman whose kidney he destroyed..."said Ms. Yvette.

"He was probably begging her not to sue..A Malpractice suity like that wouldn't look too good on his record.

"Plus Brenda had complained about his sexual harrassment to HR."said Bee Bee.

"Sounds like a desperate man."said Sofia.

"A Desperate and Frightened man....He could have lost his job! Wasn't that Lee's client?" laughed Kahlil

"Yes it was.and I thought that too and that would make sense...but look at this...After she won the 2.5 million dollar settlement.She called him 13 times and he called her 23 times , right up to the day before he was murdered." said Jade.

"There was obviously more to this than meets the eye."said Virginia..

Jade placed some photos on the table..

"The Police found a drawer filled with women's panties and bras... Used Panties and Bras... The DNA was traced to three women, three women his neighbors say were constant visitors... Two were Doctors at the hospital and one was a Nurse...The police checked them out..None of the women knew about the other and they all alibied out.

Our client was picked as Suspect Number one because he got her fired...and when she returned to get her personal effects from her drawer...She found that Dr. Bauer had already put them on the trash...

She kicked him in the shin and they had a loud yelling and screaming match in the hallway witnessed by several people. Security had to be called." said Jade.
