A Little Fun Before...

THE NEXT MORNING!
 

 We all met in our conference room right after breakfast...

 "Guys, it's Friday and as I promised...I'm cutting everybody loose at 12:00 noon... I should tell you...My good friend , Brenda Cherry was arrested last night after we all left Curley's and charged with the first degree murder of Dr. Arthur Bauer....the Surgeon who fired her and blackballed her..  As if that's not motive enough...They found a bloody surgical knife in her kitchen on the floor with Bauer's Blood and DNA....but no prints at all." said Yvette.

"Whattttttt? Oh My God!" I said.

"She was with us all last night." said Bee Bee.

"He was murdered Monday Night!"said Yvette...They had three other suspects...Two Female Doctors and a Nurse who he had been carrying on with....They all had alibi's...Then there is Brenda, who he fired and blackballed and blamed for his accident during surgery...They had a loud argument last week when she went back to get her things from her desk...which he had thrown out on the trash.It was witnessed by many. Lt. Tragg got an anonymous call ,which lead him to her house where they found the bloody surgical scapel.."said Ms. Yvette.

"You sure got a lot of information real fast."said Sofia.

"She texted me last night...This morning...while we were riding in on the train..I called Danny and he secretly faxed me the Crime Scene Report....It was here when I got to work this morning." said Ms. Yvette.

"Boss Lady ,I gotta hand it to ya...You stay one step ahead at all times." said Kahlil, smiling.

"I want you guys to go home...We are going to have a good weekend....We can't arraign her before Tuesday anyway....Nina, Lee and I are going down to Central Booking.this morning.... Jade...I want you to go on home too...Monday, we'll get to work!"said Ms. Yvette.

"Thank you Ms. Yvette...Monday, first thing in the morning."said Jade.

"Thanks Vettie."said Virginia, who was tired and wanted to go home , get some sleep and be ready for tonight!

Meanwhile at the "Fishbowl", the nickname the detectives had for the interrogation room...a defiant Brenda Cherry sat.

"PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE YOUUUUUUUUUU! This room smells like Vomit, Urine and underarm odor..Do you ever mop these floors or empty those waste baskets?  My Godddddd!! How do you stand it in here? was all she'd say...

"You beat one murder rap last year, but you won't beat this..We found the murder weapon in your kitchen on the floor with Bauer's Blood and DNA on it..You cut him from ear to ear and then you sliced his johnson off...We got you cold...We know he fired you and we know you two had a loud argument last week in which you called him a number of un pronounceable names....And Monday afternoon, you killed him!!!" said Lt. Tragg.

"Rightttttttttttttt and I left the murder weapon on my kitchen floor all week for you to find it...Didn't wash the blood off , even though my prints are not on it...Rigghtttttt you've got to be the stupidest detective in Philadelphia." said Brenda Cherry.

"WHYYYYYYYY YOUUUUUU!" snarled Lt. Tragg.

"Hold it, Hold it..Hold it!!!! Brenda don't say another word..."said Yvette.

Nina and Lee stood silently in the doorway...

"I figured you'd be down here Vettie...She's uh your friend isn't she?" said Lt. Tragg,.

"Yes..She is my friend and now my client."said Yvette.

"Where are your uh snot nosed kids?" he asked.

"If you mean my associate attorneys and investigator...It's Friday...I let them all go home early today."said Yvette.

"Well Lahhh DEE DAHHH!!!How nice of you. Nina ,what are you doin here? You her attorney also?" he asked.

"No..Ms. Cherry works for me at Women's Law Center." said Nina.

"Can we have the room?" asked Yvette.

"Sure!" smirked Lt. Tragg ,leaving the room...

"Oh My God, this room stinks...This room smells like Vomit, Urine and underarm odor." said Lee.

"I know right? Whoooooooooo!  Yvette, I didn't do this...You know me... You know I'm no killer. They found that surgical scalpel in my kitchen, but I didn't put it there...It wasn't there Thursday Morning when I left to go to work...I cooked myself breakfast and washed the dishes...It wasn't there...Somebody put it there...Somebody is trying to frame me.. I didn't kill him...I'm not sad that he's dead, the creep..but I didn't kill him..I swear!" said Brenda.

"Bren, you're a lot of things...A Killer ,you are not......I can't arraign you before Tuesday...so hang tough...I know it's a bummer being locked up over the weekend...but I'm gonna get you out..I swear I am..."said Yvette.

''We are all pulling for you Ms. Brenda."said Lee politely.

Brenda smiled.."I like her!" she said,looking at Lee.

"Hang in there Brenda.."said Nina. "You still have a job when this is over." said Nina.

"Brenda, listen to me...Don't talk about your case to anybody...Not Cops, Not Guards, Not other inmates...Not a word to anybody else...You only talk to me , you got it?" said Yvette.

"You're the boss Yvette." said Brenda, smiling.

She looked on as Yvette, Nina and Lee left....

She was handcuffed and transferred by elevator to the holding cells upstairs Nicknamed "The Cooler."

II-

FRIDAY NIGHT- We were all at the NO I.D. BAR, across the street from our building.

The Drinks were flowing as usual. 

 "What a day....Brenda was supposed to hang out with us...and instead, she's locked up..Once again..Lt. Tragg jumps to a conclusion and brings a case based on gossip and an anonymous tip."said Yvette.

"Yeah the Anonymous Tip....You know this has fsailed him in so many investigations you would think that he would at least look into some of them a little deeper."laughed Gary.

''He likes the quick arrest. The quick conviction." I said.

"You know...He's got to be the worst detective on the force."said Bee Bee.

"His failure rate has got to grab the attention of his superiors."said Sofia.

"It's that old boys network...His Uncle and his dad were detectives...They all overlook his failures and screw ups." said Kahlil..

"He would have been booted off the force or at least demoted in Tokyo."said Jade.

"That would be a good idea." said Danny, laughing.

"I still despise that man for how he treated me when I was released from prison." said Virginia.

"Yeah I remember...I gave him a good thrashing." said Jetty.

"I wish Brenda all the luck in the world.. She's a very good worker..Very thorough..Always on time...I liked her."said Nina,.

"She reorganized my files." said Carlos.

"You guys will get her out." said Lee.

Matthew rubbed her legs softly,,,, 

Lee smiled sweetly at him...

"I've got a surprise for you when we get home!" she whispered to him..

Matthew's eyes lit up...

"You are sooo horny! Look at you, already aroused" she laughed....

"I'm so sorry Brenda is not here with us tonight. She had me rolling last year with her funny stories."said Olivia.

 

"She'll be with us soon enough...Yvette and the gang are on the case."said Donnie Ray.

"I'm looking forward to tomorrow...Brunch and then a bus ride to the Baltimore Harbor."said Beverly.

"It'll be fun."said Nelson..

"We'll get a nice sleep on the ride down." said Josie.

"I can't wait to eat those Baltimore Crabs." said Paris.

"Shout out to Rollie for finding us a hotel with the floors we could all rent rooms on." said Tony.

''Rollie loves Olivia and my daughter Beverly...He always comes through for us." said Alfreda.

"He's a good friend to have."laughed Rollie.

"I'm thinking about our trip to the Baltimore Harbour tomorrow." said Jazzy.
 

"You bought some new outfits didn't you?" laughed Dabnis.

"Sure did...Me, Beverly, Kayla, Natalie, Brooke, Josie, Bresha and Renee went shopping all this week in preparation for this.  Sofia and Bee Bee joined us yesterday at lunch." said Jazzy.

"You know we are gonna shop." said Kayla.

"You're making money, you might as well." said Ray.

"I went Shopping with Sofia, Bee Bee,Renee  and Lee yesterday." said Jessica.

"Ought to be a fun weekend." said Chip.

"I'm looking forward to it."said Karen.

"Me too!" said B.L.

''Mannn Brenda was looking forward to it too!" said Natalie.

"It's a real bummer being locked up on a weekend like this." said David.

"It's a Bummer being locked up at anytime, period." said Brooke.

"Damn sure is."said Brooke.

"Well let's try to have a good time tomorrow and Sunday." said Zoey.

"Yeah really!" said Lem.

" I want my staff to have the best time this weekend..because Monday..We are going to work." said Yvette.

''Yeah, I know what you mean Yvette.."said Renee.

"We are going to have a great time." said her husband, Tyrell.

That night after we left the No I.D. Bar and went home...

At Lee's apartment..

"I told you ,I've got a surprise for you." said Lee.

"Yeah??? What?" asked Matthew..

"Take my clothes off! You'll see." she said.

"Rollie found us a nice hotel...He's on the board of directors....It's opening this weekend..He wants a good showing...That's how he was able to get us all booked on the same floor."said Olivia.

"Rollie has always hooked you up...You've been representing him for years now...Nothing ever went down between you and him?" whispered Yvette to her closest friend.

"He wanted to...but I told him I couldn't be his lawyer and his lover too!  So nothing ever happened. We have remained the best of friends over the years...I've kept him on Retainer. Rollie would do anything for me if I asked."said Olivia.

"I know...It's good to have a client like that." said Yvette.

Who was thinking about her present client and friend Brenda, who she only saw when she was in trouble or needed something...The exact opposite.

The Hotel was beautiful and not too far from the Inner Harbor.....We all had nice rooms on the next to top floor...with a nice view....We booked Twenty rooms...Ten rooms on one side of the hall and Ten rooms across the hall.. It was so cool all of us together....So rare all of us on the same floor...

 

 "This is sooooo nice...Look at these rooms." said Yvette.

"Yeah and unlike when we went to Miami..We are all on the same floor..No one to complain about the noise." said Gary.

"Yeah, remember that guy that kept sayin "Quiet the noise."I said.

''We were pretty loud... Beds squeaking in several rooms, moaning and cooing...I guess it did make him feel like an outsider, whoever he was."said Bee Bee remembering when we all booked rooms in that hotel in Miami.

''We were all newlyweds..What did he expect?" said Sofia.

"Well we brought cards and games...and Beer and Soda...We can go in and out of each others rooms like we did in college and law school."said Kahlil.

Jade looked on and smiled.. She had never experienced comradeship such as this...This was beautiful..She truly loved all of these people.

Danny smiled.. He hadn't experienced this since he was in the Academy.

Virginia smiled.  When she was in prison, She and the girls on the row used to talk and play cards and go in and out of each others cells sometimes...But this was different and better..She was free ,back amongst respectable people and she was married.

Jetty certainly loved being around his wife and all of these beautiful women.

Nina smiled and began unpacking...She felt funny about being one of two unmarried couples on this trip..But no one was judging...

Carlos loved the rooms...He hurriedly unpacked.

 

"Let's hurry up and unpack...I know everybody is famished..Rollie has a list of places we can all eat."said Olivia.

 

"Yes...that is first and foremost on my mind."said Donnie Ray...

"Mine too! and I know it's on yours."laughed Beverly ,playfully nudging her husband.

Nelson laughed. "Well I am a little hungry." he said.

"You're never a little Hungry Nelson." said Josie,playfully nudging him.

"I'm starving...I aint gonna lie."said her husband, Paris.

Bresha laughed..."Ditto"

"I hope the place isn't too far."said Tony...

"If I remember...We were here before ..there are a few nice places around here." said Alfreda.

"Yeah, I remember."said Rockland. 

This was a first for Lee, but she loved being around these people....She didn't care where they ate..

And Matthew was just happy to be with Lee..He couldn't stop thinking about last night and the good lovemaking they had...She sat on his lap and he held her tightly....

Jazzy observed them...She smiled.

"Lee has got Matthew twisted...He is in a daze....What is she doing to him?" she giggled to her husband.
 

"You know what she's doing to him...Come on..Help me unpack." Dabnis laughed.

"I'm hungry...I hope the place is close." said Kayla.

"Where ever it is...If Rollie reccomended it..It's good. I trust his tastes." said Ray.

"So do I."laughed Jessica , who had been here before.

"Yeah well let's get going...My stomach is growling." said Chip.

"It's nice to have a whole weekend with nothing to do isn't it?" said Karen to her husband.

"Yes it is..."said B.L.

"I'll race you to the elevator." said Natalie to her husband.

"Yeah, they serve Brunch in the dining room until 2:00..It's 10:00 am right now."said her husband, David.

"Ouuuuuuuuuuu and they have a heated pool on the rooftop...I'm going in for some swimming after we eat." said Brooke.

"Now there is a photo of you I might take to send to Judge Wilson." Sean joked.

"Wow...Brunch, then the indoor pool...Can't beat that huh?" said Zoey.

"The kind of break we needed." said Lem.

"They serve Brunch in the dining room until 2:00..It's 10:00 am right now."said Renee.

"I'll race you to the elevator." said her husband, Tyrell.

The Hotel had a dining room that served Brunch....Everything, Eggs to order, Pancakes, French Toast, Waffles ,Orange Juice and Coffee...We loved it!

It had an indoor swimming pool... The girls had all brought new bathing suits and all of us got in the heated pool, Even Gary and Jetty.

That afternoon, we all crowded into the restaurant Rollie suggested for us...He was on the Board of Directors of this establishment also.

It was a great place, walking distance from our hotel...and had several dishes we all enjoyed...

Pit Beef Sandwiches with Onion Rings...

Crabcakes and Shrimps....

Steaks and Shrimps.. There was something for everyone..

and lots of Crabs, which Baltimore is famous for.

And good Beer.

A live band performed while we ate....

That night after we returned from the restaurant... We kept all of our rooms open and went in and out of each others rooms..

Several Card games ensued...

as well as Backgammon

and chess...

All and All we had a great weekend..

Yvette sat by herself thinking about her girlfriend, Brenda Cherry...Sitting in a sweaty jail cell in Philadelphia.

There is nothing she could do for her right now.

IV-

MONDAY MORNING!

We were back on the grind..

"This weekend was the bomb wasn't it?" gushed Bee Bee.

"It sure was, so much fun." said Sofia.

"It was relaxing....A heated pool....Brunch in the morning....That cool ass restaurant." said Kahlil.

"We all work in the same building but in different offices...It's nice to interact with all of the folks we ride to work with daily and live with."I said.

We were beginning to work on the case at hand..Looking at Autopsy reports, looking at Crime Scene Photos and beginning to look at potential jurors.

Jade gave us a list of charactor witnesses to use in the arraignment tomorrow.

Yvette was downtown at the city jail ,talking to her client,

''So you all had a good time this weekend huh?"asked Brenda.

"Yes...and this time...We are going to arraign you tomorrow night in Night Court...When We get you out...We are going to your house and you are going to pack a bag and you are going to stay in Olivia's house...She has a beautiful Sub-basement apartment with a nice new bed, a huge TV Monitor, 75 inches with surround sound...A Chest of drawers and a bathroom and shower...You'll be safe there until after your trial. Lt. Tragg doesn't know where my office is...So he can't find me and harrass me into revealing your whereabouts...You'll be safe."said Yvette.

"Thanks Vettie....You've always looked after me... Did you take any pictures down in Baltimore? Let me see them?" she asked.

''Sure take a look." she said.

Yvette pulled out her phone...

"This is the Inner Harbour...."she said.

"And this was our hotel." said Yvette..

"OHHHH WOWWWWWWWWWWWW!" said Brenda, smiling...

The Hotel had a dining room that served Brunch Saturday and Sunday from 8:00- 2:00.  We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves...and here is everybody in the heated indoor pool..

"OUUUUUU AND YOU SAY ONE OF OLIVIA'S WELL HEELED CLIENTS HOOKED YOU ALL UP LIKE THIS?   OLIVIA MUST HAVE GIVEN HIM SOME GOOD STUFF BACK IN THE DAY HUH?" asked Brenda.

"I asked her...She said he wanted to,,but she didn't and she wouldn't...She told him she couldn't be his lawyer and his lover at the same time...He really needed a good lawyer at the time, so nothing happened..but they remained good friends...Anyway...He's married now and so is Olivia. I believe Olivia. She's Never lied to me!"said Yvette.

"Ummmmmmmm hmmmmmmmmm, Married or Not if Olivia was down...He'd be down...I know Men!" said Brenda.

"Maybe...Look at this...This is the restaurant we went to...It was right there on the Harbour."said Yvette.

"Look at the view. All that pretty water...and the food....

 

 

 

 

 

"The food looks delish and everybody looks like they had a good time...Wowww.I wish I could have gone...Even though I had no plus one..."said Brenda.

"I wish you could have gone too Bren...You'd of loved it...The Pool, The Restaurant....

They had a live band too that was pretty good."said Yvette.

"OUUUUUUUU THAT MAKES ME DESPISE THAT BONEHEAD Lieutenant Tragg for arresting me and holding me hostage all weekend...Now watch next weekend it rains..." said Brenda.

She and her good friend, Yvette sat and laughed...and laughed for the rest of the afternoon...
