DDA Katie Beck was studying the case files of Jack Stanton, who she had won two convictions over and the attorneys she would be facing. They were younger , smarter and less battle weary than original attorney John Ivey

She had never liked John Stanton....His smirk...His smugness....She just knew he was a murderer...

She had won two murder one convictions on him...It helped that the Judge, James Wilson

had the hots for her and practically helped her win death penalties in both the original trial and the retrial..

Now these attorneys from Wrongful Conviction/Conviction Integrity were re-opening his case for yet a third time..

She wouldn't have the help of the Judge this time..That old horny toad was on Death Row himself for killing his wife, her lover and some other man...Imagine that... she laughed ,thinking about the irony of the situation.

We were across town in a popular deli having lunch with private investigator, Milt Lewis..

"Heyyy Karen...Thanks for meeting me here." said Milt Lewis.

"Thanks for coming...I love this deli...My daddy used to bring me here when I was a little girl...Let me introduce you to the attorneys....This is John Ivey Jr. son of the original attorney on the case." said Karen.

"Pleased to meet you sir." said John.

"I remember your dad when I was a cop...Good Guy..had a lot of integrity..."said Milt..

"And these are my attorneys....Mrs. Brooke Marks and Mrs. Natalie Charles..

"We know Milt..."said Brooke.

'Was once a Homicide Detective." said Natalie.

"I remember when both of you girls were Public Defenders and Later, ADA's."laughed Milt.

"And this is Natalie's husband, David Charles...and Brooke's husband, U.S. Attorney Sean Marks...he's a Federal Public Defender.He'll also be helping us." said Karen.

"Pleased to meet you." I said.Unlike Natalie and Brooke, I didn't know him previously.

"Pleased to meet you." said Sean.

"And last, but never least....This little lady right here just graduated from Law School...Drexel University..a few days ago....She's been helping us...Ms. Lee Phillips.."said Karen.

"Hello." said Lee...

"Pleased to meet you....Here comes our food." said Milt Lewis.

Corn Beef Specials, Roast Beef Specials, Chips and Coffees arrived and we began eating..

"I always loved this place..."gushed Karen.

"I researched your case heavily.....There was another set of unidentified fingerprints at the Monoham house that night...Unidentified DNA too.....It showed up a year later at yet another murder scene and strangulation of an old lady...She too had a safe that had been rifled of close to one million dollars in cash. That case was from four years ago...John Stanton was tucked away in prison by then...so he couldn't have done it,....Never solved, still open.The prints on this hand appear to belong to a man with only three fingers..A thumb, an index finger and a pinky... But no such man is on any files , Not local, not State , Not FBI or federal. They searched Interpol..Nothing.. He couldn't have served in the military ,not with a hand like that...So he's basically invisible...

I told Arthur Tragg

about the prints at the Monohan site and how they matched the prints at the other murder site...He wasn't interested and he said not to "muddy the waters "of the John Stratton case...As far as he was concerned.."Johnny Stratton is a career criminal...he's been down two times...Even if he was innocent of this crime, he's probably done something else."and that was that...Case closed.. You know how it is trying to talk to him." said Milt.

"Yes, we know."sighed Brooke.

"Sounds just like him." said Natalie.

"Don't I know it." I said..

We had all had our share of run ins with Lt. Tragg.

"DNA science and detection has improved by a lot, even in five years....What we need to do is try hard to put a face and a name to that three fingered man and see if his prints and DNA have showed up at any other crime scenes."said Milt.

"You said he got a haul of one million dollars from that last murder....That's enough to retire on...Talk to some of the high line fences around town...See if they moved any merch like that...Follow the money..See who is living fat now...and missing three fingers."said Sean..

"Ouuuuu husband, you sound like a cop."laughed Brooke.

We all laughed..

The Next Day we went to the Headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Division of The Philadelphia Police department...Elite Detectives that go after elite criminals...

"We've been aware of this three fingered phantom for about two years now...."said Lt. Sissy Van Buren.

"We didn't want to interfere with Lt. Tragg's case...but since he convicted the same man twice for the first Murder ...The Monoham Murder...We decided to look into the second murder-robbery with the help of Lt. Danny Ho." said Detective Carlotta Rodriguez-Wallace,

"Danny, Duke and I investigated the second murder hard for three months and got goose eggs...Nothing.. The Fingerprints and The DNA were not a match for anybody in the system/." said Detective Tyriq Pile.

"We went through Local and State criminal files and then National with the FBI and found nothing."said Detective Jimmy Barlow.

"We went through Military and Civil Service files....Nothing...This guy has never been arrested and never been in the military or worked for the government."said Detective Sirena Pile.

"We did have a little luck....There has been talk on the street about a guy...A guy with Three fingers, a master safe cracker or box man....Nobody has a name for him and his prints and DNA haven't shown up at another crime scene in two years..." said Detective Tony Hopkins.

"For the Record...I never thought Jack Stanton was the right guy in the Monoham Murder...It didn't fit his style. He was a Burglar and a Box man, but he wasn't violent...His M.O. was not to stick around and to avoid confrontations... He went up two times sure, but he was probably guilty of a lot more heists than what he got caught for."said Detective Duke Baylor.

"We tried talking to Lt. Tragg about it...but he wouldn't hear anything we had to say...All he wanted was a quick conviction of what he called a career criminal, even if it was the wrong man."said Detective Angie Belton.

"He's an asshole..How he's remained on the force and a Lieutenant at that is a mystery to me."said FBI/ATF Special Agent in Charge, Sharon Hopkins, who totally despised the man.

"I believe your guy is innocent too, of this...He's no murderer, but you guys are going to have a hard time blaming his supposed crime on a three fingered phantom, who nobody seems to know." said Assistant District Attorney Keith Wallace.

"We have a sample of this three fingered guy's DNA....Take it to an independent lab...DNA technology has advanced a lot in even five years...See what you find...We already have a sample in the works ."said Dr. Hazel Baylor.

"Thanks Sissy, guys..."said Karen.

"We are working against the clock here, but we'll get on it." said Natalie.

"Winning our case hedges on it." said Brooke.

"If only someone could have made Lt. Tragg listen to them." I said.

"Mission Impossible." laughed Sean...

Lee laughed too!

And THE OFFICE OF DEPUTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY KATIE BECK-

"Lieutenant did you know about a second set of prints found at the Monoham murder site and two years later at another murder and robbery site..A set no one has been able to identify?" asked Deputy D.A. Kathy Beck.

"I was told about it...by some other detectives in Robbery-Homicide and the C.I.D. but they never got a make on this guy...They said he only has three fingers...A Thumb, an Index finger and a pinky on one hand..He's not in Local or State files or federal files..Not even in Interpol...He's a phantom...Why waste time looking for a phantom when we had career criminal Jack Stanton, a two time loser, who probably has done more of these home invasions than we know right here...I like him for this Monoham Murder.."said Lt. Tragg.... "Put this guy away once and hopefully for all." said Lt. Tragg, getting up and leaving.

Katie Beck sighed as she watched him leave her office..."What a rockhead."she thought.

Tonight we were back at our building for dinner.

in our great cafeteria.

"Nice having you guys back here."said Jazzy.

"Yeah, I missed all of you guys too!" said Lee.

"You're stopping by our house Saturday after Brunch to begin studying for the Bar aren't you?" said Dabnis.

"Oh Yes...I can't wait."said Lee.

"You want to try and take it as soon as it's offered so that the information is still freshin your mind."said Kayla.

"As much legal work as you've been doing lately, I'm sure a lot of information is still in your head."said Ray...

"But Danbis will show her how to take it...That's what is important." said Jessica.

"She's so sharp...She catches on fast...She'll do well." said Chip.

"I was so nervous when I took the Bar...But so relieved when I passed and my two closest girlfriends, Olivia and Yvette passed too!"said Karen..

"All of you guys will be pulling for me...I won't be nervous." said Lee.

"Of course not...Now let's go eat.."said Natalie...

I squeezed Natalie's butt and smiled.

Tyrell smiled, but ate his food quietly...He was tired...Today was a busy day for him and his colleagues.

Tony was equally exhausted and glad today was over... He felt he'd catch his second wind once he saw his wife, Bresha.

Paris felt the same way...

Yvette and her team had been in court most of the morning.

"It feels good to finally sit down and eat..." she sighed.

"I think we all had quite a day today."said Keith Jones.

"At least we won our case.."said Bee Bee.

"Yeah...and so nice it was in Federal Court...We didn't have to walk that far." said Sofia.

"Yeah how about that?" said her husband, Kahlil.

"Tomorrow we can relax." said Jade.

"It'll be nice having you all back all day." said Virginia.

"My people worked around the clock...

"DNA testing kits such as 23andMe can tell you all about your family's ancestry … but they can also potentially catch a serial killer. The notorious "Golden State Killer," known for a series of rapes and murders in California in the 1970s and 1980s, evaded capture for decades, but his genes finally caught up to him. Armed with DNA that the killer left behind at various crime scenes, investigators used a shot-in-the-dark method to track him down: They painstakingly searched through numerous genetic profiles on popular genealogy websites to see if they could find DNA that matched that of the murderer — and they just about did, according to the Sacramento Bee. In fact, the investigators homed in on the genetic profile of someone who appeared to be related to the killer. The bulk of the search was done on GEDmatch, an open-source genealogy website that makes users' genetic information available for anyone to see without needing a court order, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Well we did the same with the "Three Fingered man" We found several family members of his with the same DNA...

We discard our DNA everywhere: We leave behind dead skin cells on our keyboards, shed strands of hair or eyelashes, and leave bits of saliva on the rims of glasses. For forensic scientists, this "discarded DNA" is often the key to pinning a crime to a suspect.

Anyway....we found three family members....We talked to them and found they have a cousin, a man named..Chester Dresden, who lost two of his fingers on his left hand in a high school accident...playing with explosives... He's never been arrested, never been in the military or worked a civil service job, which is why he was so hard to pin down, but he has been suspected of getting his money in strange unknown ways to his family..." said Dr. Goggins.

THE NEXT DAY-

"Now we have a name and a face...He's suspected of being a theif..a High level heist guy who can beat safes and break into homes... How he's stayed off of the radar all this time is a mystery to me."said Private investigator, Milt Lewis to us the next day in our conference room.

"We finally made some real progress...We have a name and a photo to match..."said Karen.

"This is great...We have to take this to John, see if he knows him or has heard of him."said Natalie.

"We are this close to exoneration." said Brooke.

"The wonder of Science."I said.

"Lt. Tragg just wouldn't have had the patience to wait this long....For science to turn up the suspect." said Sean..

John Ivey was feeling frisky this morning, rubbing Lee's legs and trying to run his hand up her skirt....and smiling at her.

Lee removed his hands and blurted out-

"STOP IT PLEASE" and moved her seat next to Natalie..

Natalie stared daggers at John Ivey...

We traveled to the Men's Correctional Center-

We met with our client in the visiting room...We showed him the photo and the name.

"I don't know this guy... but I have heard of a guy from my fence...Who was a rival safe cracker...said to be as good as me..Maybe this was the guy." said Jack Stanton.

"You never heard any rumors on the street about a guy with three fingers operating around the same time you were?" asked Brooke.

"Come to think about it....I did....They used to call him "Three Fingered Jack." but I never met him.

Just heard about him." said John Stanton.

"That's your guy....Now as for your Fence...He went up a year ago...Our Investigator is talking to him now at Stanga State Prison...He makes a positive ID...We've got a case."said Natalie.

"And you're out of here." I said.

"Welll that's good news...Very Good News." said Jack Stanton, smiling.

"We are already working on our defense right now..."said Sean....

"That's right...." said John Ivey Jr. , who was with us today..

"Hey somebody is missing..."asked Jack Stanton...

"If you mean Lee...She's at this moment...learning how to pick jurors for your case..."said Karen..

She didn't come with us today...but she'll be there for the trial." she said.

At this very moment -

Lee was at Olivia and Beverly's house

Nelson and Olivia were giving a masterclass in Jury selection to both Lee and Kayla, who also had a big trial coming up.

Lee didn't want to be anywhere near John Ivey Jr. today.

Later that afternoon at her apartment...

"You guys had a good day today.....You found out the identity of this three fingered phantom and you got a great lesson in jury selection....Something I could use myself..Remind me to talk to Nelson." said Matthew.
