Eric and Charlotte arrived at the No I.D. Bar for Saturday Morning Brunch....They were there before we all arrived...At least an hour..

"Wowww! Yvette's kids, Keith, Bee Bee, Sofia and Kahlil told me about Saturday Morning Brunch here..This is fabulous...The City's best kept secret.."laughed Eric as he fixed himself a plate.

"The people that work down here like Vettie and her guys and others that live in the condos down here know about it." said Charlotte...'Olivia and Vettie hipped me to it.."said Charlotte..."Oh speak of the devil, here they all come now.." said Charlotte...

 

 "Well hello, Charlotte, Eric!" said Ms. Yvette with some surprise...Considering Eric had on the same suit he had worn the night before...Ms. Yvette correctly ascertained that he had spent the night with Charlotte....They were still here talking after all of us had left last night...

Gary smiled slyly...He knew the deal..

"Hmmmm looks like ole Eric did the Hibbity Bibbity as you girls say." I laughed.

"They were here after we all left,drinking laughing and talking." said Bee Bee.

"They did more than just drink,laugh and talk apparently.."laughed Sofia.

''Well good for them, Charlotte's been alone for awhile..That's nice for her." said Kahlil.

"They'd better keep that on the low...Especially with his fiance recently murdered...It's not a good look."said Jade.

''Ahhhh who's gonna know?" asked Danny.

''Charlotte lives in that building Judge Kelly Ann lives in and you know who is a constant guest.." said Virginia.

"Lt. Tragg."  said Jetty.

 

 "Hiiiii Charlotte, Eric!" said Olivia.. with some surprise...Considering Eric had on the same suit he had worn the night before...Olivia, like Yvette, correctly ascertained that he had spent the night with Charlotte....They were still here talking after all of us had left last night...

"Hi Olivia." said Charlotte, looking like a guilty teenager...She waved and then went back to her seat with Eric...

"Hmmmmmmmmmmm looks like ole boy got some... I thought it was building to that last night." said Donny Ray...

"I did too!  Charlotte was a little tipsy  and obviously star struck at the attention  she was getting."said Beverly...

"Yeah and he was horny..."laughed Nelson.

"Oh How do you know?" asked Josie,laughing.

"Well look , he's got on the same clothes he had on last night....and they're in here eating, He obviously spent the night with her....He didn't spend it sleeping on her couch.."said Paris.

Bresha cracked up laughing.... "He could have." she said, still laughing..and not believing a word she was saying.. She knew men..."If he had slept on the couch, he'd of gone home...Not be here eating and laughing and talking with her...No....HE HAD A GOOD NIGHT!" laughed Bresha.

"Yeahh, they were doin the Hibbity Bibbity after they left here..He's got that sheepish look on his face."said Alfreda..

"I love that term...Hibbity Bibbity...It sounds so funny....Only you girls say it...I never hear it anywhere else."laughed Rockland.

"It's another way of saying The Wild Thing....or the Horizontal Polka..." said Jazzy...
 

Her husband, Dabnis laughed and squeezed his wife tight as they ate their breakfast...

"Hibbity Bibbity is a cute way of saying sex that doesn't sound dirty." explained Kayla.

"Well Eric had better be careful...Charlotte lives in the same loft that Judge Kelly Ann lives in and you know what that means."said David.

"He could run into Lt. Tragg.."said Brooke.

"He's out on bail...He's breaking no law and he has a right not to be hassled." said Sean.

"Legally you're right...but you know how Lt. Tragg is..."said Zoey..

''How he was...Kelly Ann has him twisted like a Pretzel...Either he won't notice or if he does he won't care." said Lem.

"All he cares about now of days is getting into Kelly Ann's panties..and from what I hear he does that quite a bit.." said Renee.

"Awwww man, bed springs are Squeaking over there."laughed Tyrell...

A Tray of Mimosas arrived to go with our meals... as Carlos and Nina walked in...

"Hey everybody." said Carlos..

''After we finish here...We are going to your apartment...You're going to pack some things and you're going to stay with me...Everybody was real quiet and cagey the way they looked at me...They all know we were together last night." whispered Charlotte to Eric.

"That'll work.... I know they know....We are grown....and if I'm lucky we can get back together after we come back from my place." said Eric laughing slyly....

"OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!! YOU ARE FRESH!" laughed Charlotte..

Unlike last night, they left before us, smiling and waving...They drove to Eric's apartment, where he packed a few things and they drove back to the loft...Charlotte showed him where to place his things...

He could hear the bedsprings squeaking in another unit..

Charlotte was embarrassed at the noise they made...It was why she didn't invite anyone over to her loft...Seems like those two were always going at it..

"It's a little bit of both! That's Lt. Tragg and the other Judge who lives here, Judge Kelly Ann Mercer..." she said.

"WHATTTTTTTTTTTTT??? I know her....Nice lady...Her and him huh?   "laughed Eric...

"She's as sweet as pie....I don't know what she sees in Lt. Tragg.." said Charlotte..

It was nice that Charlotte and Eric had gotten together...She'd keep him out of trouble, out of the public spotlight...But we had a defense to mount...

Bee Bee and Sofia were already doing their research of Laws and Predicates around this particular case... They had their Laptops and Case Files out....

" I wonder why we are even doing this for this case....It's so slim." said Bee Bee.

"It's those cases where one could slip up and get surprised." said Sofia.

Kahlil and I were looking at the jury pool and picking potential jurors for his trial...

"I like this one, he's the same age , a professional...a doctor, votes Democratic in most elections."I said looking at a juror.

"I like this one here, a woman, votes independently a lot of times, educated, a year or two younger than Eric...She seems alright." said Kahlil.

and meanwhile Ms. Yvette was having a conversation with Jade.

"Jade...What do we know about Ray Studevan?" asked Yvette.

"He has no criminal record, no convictions...but he is a gambler...He was in to two people for a lot of money... I'm going to look into that...I'm going to pay our friend, Eddie Lee a visit in Chinatown....Then I'm going to talk to his estranged wife." said Jade.

"WIFE?  He was married?  Married and running around with an engaged woman?" said Yvette incredulously...

"Yes, he had a wife...They were seperated...She had a life insurance policy on him for 200 large...There goes a motive for you..."said Jade..

Yvette just shook her head....

"Vettie you have guests." said Virginia...

It was States Attorney Tanya Mosely and her right hand man, Attorney Al Davis...

"Hi Vettie...Is this a bad time?"asked Tanya,,,

"Hi Vettie." said Al...

"Hey, We can sit at the end of the table and talk, come on..." said Yvette...

"I'll see you in a few Yvette." said Jade, grabbing her purse and leaving...

III-

In Chinatown.....Jade met with Eddie Lee, Eddie Lee owned one of the most successful and talked about Asian Cuisine Restaurants in the city....Some of the very best cooks worked in his kitchen and several Philadelphians drank at his bar as well as ate his food.. Restaurant critics gave his restaurant five stars..

Known to only those in the know...Three floors above was a quasi legal casino...Also owned by Eddie Lee, where the city's high rolling Asian and Russian gamblers and a few high rolling Black gamblers  embarked on games of chance.

Because Eddie Lee kept the neighborhood quiet...The police turned their heads to his "other business"

"Hello Jade, Nice to see you." said Eddie Lee..  He had remembered Jade when she first came to Philly as a Homicide Detective from Tokyo on loan to the Philadelphia Police.. He had been very attracted to her sexually and romantically then.. He was elated when she quit the Tokyo Police department, Returned to Philadelphia and got her American Citizenship....Now she worked as an Investigator for the very attorneys who got her her citizenship...

"Hi Eddie...." she said...

"And what brings you to my Casino....You want to try your hand at a few hands of Poker?" he asked, knowing that she didn't..

"I'm here to ask some questions ....About Ray Studevan?" she said.

"I heard about him......He was killed a week or two ago in Center City....Shame.... Lt. Tragg was here a few days ago. I told him about Ray... He owed me about 100 large.... He was ducking me for a few weeks, then, two days before he died...He paid me in full and with interest....Can you believe that?? And No Jade....I wasn't going to have him killed... Murder is a dirty business and a dead man couldn't pay me my money back....Turns out , he paid me and we were square....You might want to talk to his wife... She wasn't too happy with Ray...Ray was a ladies man somewhat and he was always in here with a different lady, including the one he got killed with.."said Eddie Lee.

Jade knew that Eddie Lee didn't lie....Especially not to her....

"Thank you Eddie, as always....It's a pleasure." said Jade, smiling.....

Meanwhile back at the Bridge Building

Ms. Yvette was holding court with Tanya Mosley, the States Attorney...

"Vettie Girl, you know I love you and I trust your judgement...We checked out Eric Becker and he is solid....a great Attorney was once Assistant States Attorney under my predecessor and was so good he was considered for a Federal Judgeship....He would be an asset to my office... Butttttt he has a reputation of being loose with the zipper of his trousers... I can't have that in my office...Not after the controversy I had with Greg Garland....There are people out there looking to pin anything on me..."said Tanya.

"I assure you he's calmed down considerably as far as chasing the ladies is concerned...."said Ms. Yvette.

"These Murder charges!  Considering that jackass Lt. Tragg arrested him, I'm 100 percent certain he's innocent." said Al Davis, Tanya's friend..

They turned and saw the four of us...We were finished with our work and had joined them...

"Hello Ms. Mosley, Mr. Davis." I said.

"Hello Ms. Mosley, Mr. Davis." said Bee Bee.

"Hello Ms. Mosley, Mr. Davis." said Sofia.

"Hello Ms. Mosley, Mr. Davis." said Kahlil.

"Hiiiiiii guys and gals...Ouuuuu Vettie, I just love your staff....." said Tanya...

"Yes, they are gems...As far as Eric's defense...We are all over it and I have no doubt, he'll be cleared of these ridiculous charges....They are baseless....He was with us all day that day....So the theory is he hired someone, but there is no records of any payments made on any of his bank account, no wire transfers nothing.....He shouldn't have even of been charged." said Yvette.

"That's about average for a Lt. Tragg case." snarled Al Davis...

At a coffee shop in Northern Liberties...Jade was meeting with Beverly Studevan, the widow of Ray Studevan...

"You know you're the second person to interview me...Lt. Tragg interviewed me yesterday......" said Beverly Studevan.

"I'm surprised he got up out of Kelly Ann's bed long enough to actually do some police work." Jade thought to herself and smiled.

"I'll be candid... Ray, my late husband, never met a woman who he didn't feel he should liberate her from her bra and panties....That's how we met...I was a cashier at that Bar where he tended Bar....Even then, he couldn't keep it in his pants...Always flirting, Always trying to get someone in bed...He couldn't help himself.. I had a life insurance policy on him for one million dollars...he had one on me too for the same amount... I can't collect a penny until this business with Eric Becker is cleared up or until the real murderer is caught and convicted...  I didn't kill Ray or have him killed...I had no reason....but you might want to talk to a cop..... " said Beverly.

''A Cop?"asked Jade.

"Yes...I didn't even know about Ray and that woman who was killed with him...He was sleeping with a cop's wife... I don't know the cop's name...but I'd know him if I saw him again...He came in the bar and put a gun to Ray's head and told him he'd kill him if he caught him anywhere near his wife...Ask Lt. Tragg about that.." said Beverly Studevan.

Elsewhere that same night..

 "Tanya is nervous...This thing is in the papers about Eric being charged with conspiracy in a double homicide, but she is still willing to hire him once he is cleared....She gave me assurances...but understandably....She doesn't want it mentioned that he was considering a position in her office until this whole thing has blown over....Which I can understand....Someone is always trying to attach a scandal to her." said Ms. Yvette.  "You find anything about Ray Studevan?" asked Ms. Yvette.

"Yes, one..he was a degenarate gambler, into Eddie Lee for 100 large.." said Jade.

"Whoa! Eddie Lee keeps things pretty peaceful and cool in Chinatown, but owing that much dough could possibly get a man killed.." I said.

'That's not really Eddie Lee's style.." said Bee Bee.

"No it isn't.." said Sofia...

"But 100 Large is a good motive.." said Kahlil..

"Anyway Eddie Lee said that he paid him in full with interest two days before he died... Guess where he got the money?  A Loan from his lawyer friend and gal pal...the now deceased Valarie Robinson....I checked.. She is pretty well heeled...She clears over six figures annually from her clientele...She repped only South Jersey's most prestigious clients..and had some pretty heavy investments...She didn't even miss the money.....She apparently loved the man that much... I talked to his wife...She had a 1 million dollar life insurance policy on him and he had one on her....Because of the way he died....She can't collect a red cent until this Eric Becker business is settled and the police conclude the investigation into his death making sure she had nothing to do with it.....And get this, Lt. Tragg interviewed Eddie Lee, two days before I did and cleared him and interviewed the wife, the day before yesterday....imagine that."said Jade.

"You mean he got out of Kelly Ann's bed long enough to actually do some police work?" said Virginia..

Her husband Jetty cracked up laughing...

"Girlllllll you took the words out of my mouth." said Ms. Yvette, laughing...

"I thought the same thing myself, but didn't say it.."laughed Jade... "Anyway, the other thing is...

Mr. Ray Studevan was a womanizer...In addition to His wife and Valarie Robinson...He had another girl, a cops wife!" said Jade.

"A cops wife?" I asked..

"Who is the cop?" asked Bee Bee.

"I don't know...The wife didn't know the cop's name or his wife..all she knew was she hard stories...One in particular about this cop pulling a gun on Ray and threatening to kill him if he heard of him and his wife fooling around." said Jade.  "I'm going to have to visit that bar and get a name...Somebody saw it, somebody there knows about it." said Jade.

" A good investigator is worth their weight in gold." said Sofia...

"Yes indeed " said Kahlil, smiling.

Ms. Yvette smiled.

"Between you guys and Olivia and Beverly you get the best cases.."added Jazzy.
 

"Yeah your cases are always must see TV."laughed her husband Dabnis...

"By him staying with Charlotte, he's keeping a low profile and hiding in plain sight." laughed Kayla.

"We saw them together last night in the Shopping Center. Charlotte said they never see Lt. Tragg...They hear him and Kelly Ann, but they never see him." laughed Ray...

"Philadelphia's finest."laughed Jessica.

"he couldn't find a suspect if the suspect surrendered to him."laughed her husband, Chip..

"He loves him some Kelly Ann...but they are going to run into each other eventually."said Karen.

"And even if they do...So what? " said Natalie.

"He won't be knocking on their door demanding to see him....Kelly Ann will have him down in her apartment...making love."laughed her husband, David.

"You joke, but that's probably the way it is...And during the day, both are gone...To work and even Charlotte is at work until the afternoon..She is a Judge, she does oversee cases." said Brooke.

"Talk about playing it close to the vest.."laughed her husband, Sean...

"At any rate...He's in pretty good shape."said Zoey...

"I'm certain he thinks so."said her husband, Lem.

"They'd be better off staying at Olivia's house in their sub-basement." said Renee.

"Ummmmmmmm so many good memories down there." mused her husband, Tyrell.

"I imagine you're right Renee, but I think he's good where he is. Besides, Lt. Tragg isn't there every day..He has to work too!"said Paris.

Tony laughed... "Yeah and rest....That woman is wearing him out...Remember how immacuate he used to be?
