FRIDAY NIGHT BEFORE TRIAL ON MONDAY

We were all at the No I.D. Bar where Natalie was telling Jazzy about the notorious slap the day before.

"Sure Does...We don't expect it to last long."said Brooke.

"We'll be done by Thursday, if not sooner."said Natalie.

"Such confidence."laughed Josie's husband,Paris.

"They're both good lawyers as we all know."said Bresha.

"Good.... We 'll all be able to relax..." said Tony.

"We relax anyway, regardless."said Alfreda.

Rockland just laughed....He was glad he had friends and nice places to go.

"Ahhhh this is soooo relaxing....."laughed Nina.

"That was intense yesterday huh?"laughed Carlos.

"Yes, but you chilled things out well."said Nina.

"I heard our friend,Stryker got transferred out of town."said Yvette.

"Yeah to Anchorage Alaska."said Gary..

"Whatttttttt? For Real?" asked Keith Jones.

"Good,,,That ought to cool him off out there."said Bee Bee.

"If only all of our adversaries could be sent there."said Sofia.

"I've got nothing against Alaska, why do that?" said Kahlil, to which their entire table burst into laughter.

Jade laughed also.

"This Lily Taylor retrial starts again this week, Lt. Tragg has been on edge about it...He doesn't understand why it's being re-opened."said Danny Ho.

"Maybe if he had been more thorough the first time this wouldn't need to be brought up again...They'd of found a body at least."said Virginia, wjho had known Lily when they both were at Dolly Madison.

"I never thought that woman was guilty...but that butthead, Judge James Wilson kneecapped the defense like he always did and helped the prosecution usher that woman off to jail..she's been locked up for three years now." said Jetty,,,

Lee and Matthew sat in a corner by themselves talking quietly...

"I told him at least two times I was in a committed relationship...He wouldn't stop pawing all over me until I slapped him."said Lee.

"Better you than me...Anyway..I talked to the landlord about moving in with you...He gave me the papers because you weren't in... You uh sign them and we are officially room mates.. Carlos said he'd help me move my stuff into your place Monday Night after court...."said Matthew,.

"Ouuuuuuuuu that makes me the happiest girl in the world."said Lee.

"That makes me pretty happy too!"said Matthew..

"It's Okay, forget about it! Let's go in this courtroom and win this damn case." said Miles as we all cheered.

We entered the courtroom.....

To Our Surprise, Judge Kelly Ann Mercer was the judge...We were all surprised and happy...

Jumpshot Jim looked a little leery...

While Lt. Tragg sat looking like he was in a daze...With Judge Kelly Ann's lipstick smudges on the side of his face and his lapel...

"Good Morning, Good Morning, Good Morning Attorneys and Jurors...I am Judge Kelly Ann Mercer...We are going to start with introductions of the attorneys in this case..." she said.

"Assistant District Attorney James Taylor, representing the Commonwealth Your Honor."said Jumpshot Jim.

"Karen Page, Lead Attorney for the defense your Honor."said Karen.

"Miles Ellis, Co-Lead Attorney for the Defense your honor."said Miles.

"Mrs. Brooke Marks, Attorney for the Defense your Honor."said Brooke.

"Mrs. Natalie Charles , Attorney for the Defense."said Natalie.

"David Charles, Attorney for the Defense your honor." I said.

"Sean Marks, Attorney for the defense your honor."said Sean.

"Nina Rios, Attorney for the Defense your honor."said Nina.

"Carlos Diaz, Attorney for the Defense your honor." said Carlos..

"And Lee Phillips, Attorney for the Defense your honor...."said Lee.

"My My...Nine seasoned Attorneys....That's eight more than you had last time you were on trial young lady...I was a young ADA, just arriving here in Philadelphia when you went on trial....Your prospects have certainly improved..."said Judge Mercer.

Lily smiled weakly...

"Alright, we will now have Jury selection.." said Kelly Ann.

Natalie and Brooke had spent a few afternoons at Olivia and Beverly's house, working closely with Nelson on Jury selection....They had studied the jury pool and knew exactly which type of juror they wanted and targeted the jurors that fit their type.

Jumpshot Jim was totally unprepared for them and their questions and their caareful observation of the present jury pool.. They got an unheard of 12 for 12 jurors of the jury they wanted to pick and even got three of four alternates.

This was not the way the first jury went.

Lily could feel the difference...She felt a little better about her chances.

"Alright! We have a jury...Outstanding.....We'll begin Trial tomorrow at 10:00 AM....Attorneys be on time and be ready for trial.."said Judge Kelly Ann.

"Oh Thank Goodness.We have time to grab some breakfast." said Brooke.

"Let's go to that French Breakfast place Olivia told us about..."said Natalie.

TWO DAYS LATER-

Jumpshot Jim gave the same argument he gave in the first trial...He called the same witnesses...Had the same Police and Forensic Experts testify that testified in the first trial...

Natalie and Brooke showed once again while they were once the most feared young ADA's around and such a great team...They totally destroyed his witnesses....Proving that they witnessed nothing or got their information second hand....

With Sean and Carlos we made everything the Forensic "Experts" said obsolete....There was no forensic evidence and nothing to place our client anywhere near the scene of the crime.

Despite his objections...

Judge Kelly Ann allowed Miles, Karen and Nina to continue.

Miles, Karen and Nina presented witnesses who weren't allowed to testify in the first trial who stated where our client was during the time after she drove Skyler to his residence and before he vanished..

They even presented a witness who claimed to have seen him after Lily had driven off.. Judge Wilson kept this witness from testifying in the first trial.

Jumpshot Jim, afraid he'd lost the jury and with nothing else left practically used jury nullification in his closing argument.....

What happened next shocked everybody.....

Lee Phillips, the attorney with the least experience made a motion to the judge..

"Your Honor...I am making a motion that these murder charges be dropped before we go any further...

on account that the victim...Skyler Taylor is still alive!" she said.

The Jury gasped.

"When Skyler Taylor vanished.. There was no movement on his credit cards, debit cards nothing...No phone activity. From the time he vanished until after his wife Lily Taylor was convicted and sent off to prison...That was from 2020-2022...So look...In January 2023 there started being movement on his bank accounts in the Cayman Islands...and new credit cards in his name as well as debit cards... You see, no one was looking anymore.." she said.

"The camera on the ATM machine snapped this photo.One week to this day! " said Lee.

Everyone in the courtroom was stunned..

"Crimminy...He's still alive!" said an astonished Lt. Tragg.

''Yeah how about that? Another investigation you goofed up!"said an angry ADA James Taylor.

"Your Honor in light of this new evidence....I see no need for this woman to be charged with First Degree Murder....The real crime here was committed by her husband, who apparently has faked his own death."said Jumpshot Jim.

"The Defense concurs."said Karen.

"I concur...Bailiffs, take the handcuffs and shackles off of the defendent... Mrs. Taylor , you are a free woman and I am going to suggest strongly that the State of Pennsylvania compensate you for your two years of wrongful incarceration." said Judge Kelly Ann Mercer.

''What does this all mean?" asked a stunned Lili...

"It means you're a free woman!!!! You got your life back!!" said Natalie, hugging her...

"Oh My God, Thank you....Thank you all so much!"said Lily Taylor, crying profusely and hugging all of us....

Jumpshot Jim avoided an embarrassing loss by calling for her release first....

Lily appeared at the Press Conference with her legal team...Karen, Miles,Brooke, Natalie,myself, Sean, Nina, Carlos and Lee...

We were triumphant and had finished this case in two days...It was Thursday......

Jumpshot Jim appeared too...and of course he blamed the whole fiasco on a botched investigation by Lt. Tragg....Nothing was mentioned about the corruption of now incarcerated Judge James Wilson, who more than anyone , kneecapped the defense and kept certain witnesses from testifying.. He more than Lt. Tragg was responsible for this travesty...but he was of course on Death Row....for his own crimes...

The Police Commissioner and The Deputy of Operations Angry at the embarrassment, Lt. Tragg had once again brought the department...Sent him to the Marine Boat for a month!

Once again...he wound up on the Marine Boat.... Furious at Jumpshot Jim....He didn't have to mention his name to the press like that....If it was the last thing he did...he said.. He was going to get even with Jumpshot Jim.

EPILOUGE-

Skyler Taylor was arrested by local authorities and turned over to the FBI, who extradited him back to Pennsylvania where he was tried and convicted on a number of charges and sentenced to a total of 10 years in the Federal penitentary....

His estranged wife, Lili Taylor was granted a divorce and half of his holdings...Making her a very happy and very wealthy young lady.

The next weekend.. We all piled into two buses and with our catering van headed for the shore and Nelson's two Beachfront houses for more rest and relaxation...

There was once again, food on the grill....

Burgers and Dogs...

Steaks, Hot sausages, Corn on the cobb

Seafood.....

Pork and Beans

Creamy Pasta Salad

Cole Slaw.

Plenty of Beer and Soda....

Cards for those who wanted to play...

Nelson hugged her while he quaffed down a beer..

Josie sipped a cola while sitting on her husband, Paris's lap....

"I so look forward to these get togethers." said Bresha.

Keith ,Bee Bee, Sofia and Kahlil were engulfed in a game of Spades.

"This is just like some weekends in law school, up in you girls room."said Keith Jones.

"Only difference was we didn't have this many friends...It was just us four."said Bee Bee.

''We were truly in a world of our own."said Sofia.

"True, but I like this better...It's a warm cozy feeling." said Kahlil.

"You all are my family...I love it."said Jade.

Kayla sipped a cola while sitting on her husband, Ray's lap..

Ray smiled and hugged her....

"I'm not going to talk or even think about work the whole time we are here." said Jessica.

"Good! We've earned a reprieve." said Chip.

"I'm sure you have a lot to show on Hard Bottom...Our case and the Immigrant cases huh?" said Karen to her husband, B.L.

"Oh Yeah, there was a hotbead of legal activity going on the past month....."said B.L.

"And thank you for partying with us Lily...I told you we had an extra room for you."said Karen.

They stopped by our Beachfront Houses to Eat and Fellowship with us..
