A Saturday in Bayside....At their shopping centers..

"It sure is nice Besty, you and me, shopping together..."siad Brooke..

"I know... Everybody is at home, chilling or whatever...It's nice just the two of us, winding down and relaxing.." said Natalie..

This wasn't a Saturday when the entire crew was out here shopping...Brooke and Natalie got in their car and drove out here after Brunch, even leaving their husbands at home.

This was so different from their recent weekend with everybody at the beach....

Recently...They had all been reunited with the crew they worked with at the Public Defender's Office, Jessica Sanchez-Burrows, Charles "Chip" Burrows, and newcomer, Matthew Akes..Working a Big Case...Recently...They had all been reunited with the crew they worked with at the Public Defender's Office, Jessica Sanchez-Burrows, Charles "Chip" Burrows, and newcomer, Matthew Akes..Working a Big Case...The case of Lionel Bailey, A Black Autistic man falsely accused of Rape and Murder...We used DNA evidence to prove that he was not the culprit and that he had been railroaded into prison by a false confession , strong armed out of him by overzealous detectives, led by one Lt. Arthur Clarke

Then no sooner than that case was resolved... They teamed up with both Olivia Bennett-Alexander and Beverly West's Team and Yvette Jones Alexander's Team on a mutual Wrongful Conviction case..

The Case involved Gerald Thompkins and Wadell Jones. Two men accused of a double murder in North Philadelphia. There was little information or evidence linking the two men to the crime and in fact the two men had never crossed paths before the night of the double shooting..Once again they had been railroaded into prison by a false confessions , strong armed out of them both by overzealous detectives, led by one Lt. Arthur Clarke.

Clarke was dead now...A Suicide...

They drove up to Greene State Correctional Institution where both men were being held. in one of Olivia's Buses..

They set up a base of operations in a Motel on the edge of town...for two days...

They enjoyed a mini cookout in the back of the hotel...

We argued before Three Appellate Courts before we got our clients released...

Back in Philly, a successful retrial lead to acquittals.... The original prosecutor in both of those cases, the one we worked with the Innocence Project and the one we worked on with Olivia and Yvette's team was a man named Alex Rackley....and he was incensed...

"These were three men who had to have Public Defenders....They couldn't afford legal counsel and now all of a sudden they've become cause celebre's and have in one case had eight attorneys, eight bleeding heart liberal attorneys helping them... 16 Attorneys and 2 investigators... This is all for show...All for show and something should be done about it" he said to a press conference.

But for now, with both of those cases resolved on a balmy Saturday Afternoon... Two good friends were walking and relaxing at the Bayside Mall.

"Look at us Bestie....Remember many a Saturday Night in Singles Bars, fending off the advances of sooo many losers...."laughed Brooke..

"Now we are married, homeowners and have a pretty decent jobs...We are like suburban housewives.."said Natalie..

"I know...Imagine that?"laughed Brooke....

They both got in Natalie's car and pulled off, headed home to Philadelphia...

"You and David going out tonight?" asked Brooke...

"Nahhh, we are staying in...probably going to order some take out.." said Natalie..

"Wow! We are some old married Ladies."laughed Brooke..

"For Sure"laughed Natalie.

SUNDAY-

SUPER BRUNCH-

Every Sunday After church, practically everybody attended the Super Brunch at Josie's Bar and Grill

In addition to Breakfast treats...There was a soul food buffet.

and a live band, playing soft music as we all ate our food.

"Yesterday after Brunch, Beverly, Kayla,Josie, Bresha, Renee and Jessica all went to the Shopping Center and did a little shopping." said Jazzy as she fixed a plate of food..

"I was home watching sports on TV."said Dabnis.

"I imagine you were too huh?" asked Kayla.

"Baby I was asleep most of the afternoon." laughed Ray.

''We had a nice time shopping...Me, Jazzy, Kayla,Beverly, Josie, Bresha and Renee." said Jessica.

"Me and Nelson and David were over his and Beverly's place watching sports." said Chip..

"Me and Hubby were home, eating popcorn and watching movie after movie.." said Karen.

''Among other things." said her husband, B.L.

"Well Brookie and I went to Bayside...We had a beautiful day together, just the two of us." said Natalie.

"I was over Nelson's place with Chip, watching sports." said David.

"I'm glad you guys found something to do...My husband was dead to the world..Asleep when I got home."said Brooke.

"Well I came awake as soon as you were in the house.."laughed Sean..

"You certainly were." said Brooke.

"Lem and I went on a date date...Dinner and a movie.." said Zoey..

"We saw "Micheal" said Lem...

"I want to see that...Maybe next week." said Renee.

"That's a good idea." said Tyrell.

"We went on a date date too...To that restaurant we all went to a few weeks ago." said Lee.

"Yeah it was fun..." said Matthew.

"We went on a Date date too....It was nice." said Nina..

"Yeah, a nice weekend getaway..." said Carlos..

"I was at Josie's....My husband sat in with the House Band...I couldn't miss it."said Olivia.

"I was so glad you were there baby!" said Donnie Ray.

"Where else would I be?" swooned Olivia.

"Me and the girls ,Kayla, Jazzy, Josie, Bresha ,Renee and Jessie had a great time in the mall." said Beverly.

'After all the work we put in...We needed a break, huh?" said Nelson.

"Sure did..."laughed Josie.

Her husband, Paris made a plate of food for them both and carried it over to our three tables.

"Well Baby maybe next week you and I will go on a date date."said Bresha.

"I'm all for it.." said her husband, Tony.

"I felt like a porn star." said Alfreda...

"Oh My God, I was all for it.." laughed her husband, Rockland.

"I know you were."laughed Alfreda.

"We had a nice night at the Mermaid Club..."said Yvette.

"Yeah, it felt kind of weird ,us being apart this weekend, all doing our own thing."said Gary.

"We need to do things like that every now and then." said Keith Jones.

"Yeah ,we are all always together so much..."said Bee Bee.

" Yeah...this weekend was nice...We all were doing different things...but I felt kind of lonely.."said Sofia.

"Yeah. not quite the same."said Kahlil.

"It was nice, hanging out with Sissy and her guys." said Jade.

"Yeah...We had a ball, playing cards and telling war stories."laughed Danny.

"We spent the entire weekend in bed....I can barely walk you horny dog.."laughed Virginia..

"Awwwwww my god..."moaned Jetty.

"Ummm this is good food...I was famished." said Sissy.

"So am I." said her husband, Eddie C. as he prepared a plate.

"Are you hungry papi?" said Carlotta as she made plates for she and her husband, ADA Keith Wallace.

"Yes, I am famished...Thanks for making my plate."said Keith Wallace.

"It was nice hanging out with Danny and Jade this weekend."said Tyriq.

''Sure was...He helped us out a lot with that last case." said Serena.

"He sure did....Hopefully we will have a few days to relax."said Jimmy.

"I hope so...We've been so busy since we came back from the beach weekend.." said Angie Belton-Barlow.

"It's our punishment for having such a good time that weekend."laughed Hop.

"Awwwwwwww...I'd do it again...That weekend was the bomb." said Sharon.

"You go back to work tomorrow."said Duke.

"Don't remind me.." said Hazel.

The band continued as everyone enjoyed their food and quiet conversation....

Unseen in the crowd was Assistant District Attorney Alan Rackley....

He was curious about all of these attorneys....where they lived , where they hung out...

MONDAY- THE OFFICE OF DISTRICT ATTORNEY GIL GARCETTI

It is not often we are called into the District Attorney's Office for a secret meeting.

"Good Morning....It's not often I call you guys down here to my office...In fact I've never called you down here since the day I gave you your assignments...Let me start by saying...You've down a wonderful job...all of you...600 wrongful convictions overturned...Great work guys..." said The District Attorney.

"So why are we here this morning?" asked Brooke.

"I happen to have a case for you...A Case I'm certain we got wrong....And a Prosecutor in THIS VERY OFFICE , I need you to watch out for....His name is Alan Rackley...What I'm about to tell you all doesn't go past this office..." he said.

"Ouuuuu real cloak and dagger stuff." said Natalie, who removed my hand from under her skirt and smiled at me... "Stop it.." she whispered to me..

I smiled at her...

"Rackley was the Prosecutor in the case we worked with the Innocence Project a few weeks ago...and the prosecutor in the big case we worked with Olivia, Beverly and their team and Yvette and her team also...that we got overturned..." said Yvette.

"Yeah, he's very ambitious....and he's made no secret that he wants my job or higher....He's piled up a series of 65 convicitions...and I have reason to suspect he's played fast and loose with evidence...This case in particular..Henry Luce..Convicted last summer for killing his wife...He swears he's innocent...His Attorney, asked for DNA evidence....It was never taken and the DNA from the case somehow turned up missing...I suspect other evidence that might have cleared this man turned up missing also...He was convicted and sentenced to Life... The late Lt. Arthur Clarke was the arresting officer in both cases....He too was known to be fast and loose with evidence. Thank God he's not here to hassle you guys. Henry Luce is at Phoenixville... I want you guys to go up there this week and talk to him and try to get him a new trial...I want my office clean....I want truly guilty people behind bars and innocent people set free."said Gil Garcetti.

"Sounds like a campaign speech." said Karen, smiling..

"I know right?" he said, and we all busted out laughing....

A Little while later we were back at the Bridge Building...in our conference room..

"I've pulled this guy, Alan Rackley up on my laptop if you guys want to see .." said Karen..

Brooke , Natalie and I circled around her...

"He's prosecuted 56 cases...All wins for him...We've overturned two of his convictions...Two big ones...I heard he wasn't happy about it...He was on Television talking about how the attorneys attached themselves to those two cases merely for publicity and to advertise for new clients." said Karen.

"Yeah like Olivia and Beverly or Yvette need new clients....They appear to have a lot of clients, paying clients...He's nuts."said Brooke.

"He was at Penn While Olivia ,Yvette and I were there...He graduated with us..We just didn't know him."said Karen..

"Funny how you can have so many people in your graduating class and not know them.."I said.

"You knew everybody in yours didn't you?" asked Natalie.

"I didn't know you, Beverly, Jazzy or Kayla...We all graduated from Temple Undergrad at the same time....But I knew my law school classmates at Temple's Beasley School of Law..." I said.

"WOWW! You five were all at Temple at the same time huh?" said Brooke.

"Yeah , after graduation...Beverly, Kayla and Jazzy all went to University of Pennsylvania and I went to Georgetown School of Law...Your husband, Sean was in my class... I remember seeing him around a few times, but I didn't know him..."said Natalie.

"Small World.."said Brooke.

"Where did you go to school Brooke?" asked Karen.

"I went to Lasalle and then Middleton School Of Law." said Brooke.. "After Graduation and passing the bar, I took a job in D.C. I met Natalie there, my husband, Sean and Renee Cantrell..Who knew we'd all be back in Philly and in each others lives?" said Brooke.

"Life is funny like that." said Karen.

That night at Home...

"I'm glad we are just driving to Phoenixville and not riding to Greene or Stanga." said Sean who was riding shot gun.

"I was reading up on this case....Our old friend, Lt. Arthur Clarke was the arresting officer in this case too and his favorite prosecutor, Alex Rackley tried the case..

They are suspected of withholding evidence....not just DNA and fingerprints, but other exculpatory evidence.. They bullied his original attorney into an early retirement... He couldn't be reached for comment...He moved to Florida." said Brooke.

"Well Lt. Clarke is dead. ADA Rackley is going to try everything in the book to get us off this case...From going to the D.A. ,which will fail because he put us on this case to confronting us and trying to intimidate us..."said Natalie.
